I bought one 2 years ago.. the bottom has already lost its shaped and 'stretched' so that's it's not holding form. Disappointed considering it's price.
Mine pilled a bit after the first few months, but I clipped it all off with a pill trimmer and it never did it again. It's actually amazing how little it pills because I almost always have a backpack on swaying around
Great question! Maybe a little bit, but not a noticeable amount, and I think I've only really noticed it when I had a fabric backpack on moving back and forth across the material. I get more from my jeans!

I'm astonished at the quality of mine, but I have had it for some years. It looks just like the new ones, but maybe something has changed! Sorry you had a bad experience! My wife just bought a brand new one for the first time. I'll keep an eye on how it wears!
lol.... yup....not washing it is gross. just because you dont see stains or smell bad, doesn't mean it's clean. don't be a typical guy and only do the sniff test.

I've had this particular one for about 9 years now and while it did pill at one point, I just trimmed them off and cleaned it and it looked like new. This is the coat I wear every time I fly or travel (often it's the only coat I bring because sometimes I use it as a pillow when I stay somewhere cheap) so it's gotten a lot of wear and miles on it. It's definitely possible they've changed the recipe on this thing in recent years, but I'm still impressed with how mine has held up.
Very nice review. I got mine today but i was disapointed. I was really windy today , i feel all the wind in my arms, i was expecting to be more protective. Do i need to use a specific undeware to not feel the wind? Thanks
Yes you are correct! It is not windproof at all. It's actually sort of amazing how much wind goes through it. But I've found that just a long sleeve shirt, or a flannel, under it makes it completely different. When I know it's cold and I'm wearing just that sweater out, I'll usually throw something under it with long sleeves. Hope you enjoy it!
Me, wearing outside gear, to go to my cushy office job... pretending rugged durability is what I really need it for

It's "overpriced" because Patagonia fairly sources their materials and pays the manufacturers a fair wage.
