I hope in reality they don’t take those answers seriously that method of lie detecting is extremely flawed and has been proven to be plus there is a lot of external factors which is effecting the reading such as multiple people surrounding him in the same room making noise and moving items around plus hitting the table.
That and you could tell Nick was answering the questions honestly anyway so any "lie" reading was obviously incorrect

I feel like the fact that lie detector tests aren’t accurate enough you set yourself up to get nervous when you know you’re telling the truth you just don’t want it to be wrong because then you know it would sew doubt in your honesty
thats why they got banned from actual interrogations because you can be nervous while still telling the truth

An experienced polygraph expert would see that, and record it as a nervous reaction. Polygraph experts are actually 98% accurate. The reason it's banned for many things is because you can't just hope that 2% never happens. Also, they tend to ask the same question multiple times, and in different ways, then compare the answers to eachothers, it's why they do that.
Also keep in mind this random guy is not a polygraph expert. He's just a dude looking at random spiking lines, and being like. "Well... Uhhh.. They're going up?"
Learned this in my psychology class but you can just bypass lie detectors by causing pain in some areas like biting your tongue or something when they ask you a control question like what year is it. Altering your breathing during questions you know is a control question can also create confusing signals. Theres no way you lie on what year it is unless you’ve been in a coma for a few years.

Something as small as moving a part of your body can throw off the Polygraph, as well as changing how you view the test going in, and that's not going into everything else that can throw it off.

these tests aren't completely accurate, just being anxious can throw it off. They don't use them in court for that reason. Also if you can keep your cool you can make it seem like you're not lying
