I eventually found the answer on their website, although I had to click through an image slideshow. This library is just the condenser and the room mix mics. As the room mix is already a blend of all the other non-surround mic positions, this is truly a great starting point and may be good enough for a lot of users. You get mid and decca room mics in the standard version and additional close mics and surround mics in the full version. I'm intrigued to see the presets as they must have done quite a bit with EQ and delays to produce the different options, seeing as they normally rely on different mic perspectives to achieve effects. Initially, these presets seem to have fixed some of the issues that were prevalent with the original set. It would be great if VSL could update those down the road. Guy Bacos makes everything sound good. I love these demos.
I agree with you! I've tried the Standard version of the D274, and while I appreciate its tonal character and decent playability, I did notice some issues. Specifically, some of the notes above the 5th octave sounded overly thin, and the overall sound lacked the upfront and depth authentic quality of a real piano. After tweaking some parameters, I managed to achieve a decent sound, but it still falls short of the rich, full-bodied sound I'm accustomed to from my own upright pianos and experiences playing various grands. One feature I missed was the ability to adjust voicing parameters, which would have allowed for more nuanced customization. Thanks! ❤
i got vsl d full and it's quite good but can't wait for your next steinway piano guys, hope it's a very different type of steinway, a warmer and older, a more vintage one god I'm in my "stfu and take my money" era😂❤
I have a question what is the difference between the standard version of D274 & D274 Essential? Also you have mentioned that free Imperial user can update to D274 Essential. Can you please explain me about this. I am buying a Standard version of D274 and CFX.
Hi, there are no upgrade paths from free instruments. The difference between Concert D-274 Essentials and Concert D-274 Standard is the number of available channels and the number of velocity levels (like I wrote in your reply to your question to support@vsl.co.at). - Paul
Thank you very much! Just to confirm, this offer is valid until March 3rd, correct? I'll explore other piano options and then proceed with my purchase. I'm actually considering buying more than two piano libraries. I will take the advantage of the offer.
I have a question so what’s the difference between that and normal full d274
