      Mine would not prime the passanger side untill I put the msd distributor in then it instantly got oil on passanger side

  • @richardsmith-qy6vl

    If you rotate the motor as you prime it should help get oil all through the motor.

    • @blindguysgarage
      @blindguysgarage  Год назад

      Yes I know I did not notice untill editing that there is no futtage of priming and bumping/sling the engine over but even rotating with a stander HEI it would not prime the passanger side I changed to the MSD with o rings after measuring the distributor hole in the block and found it to be slightly oversized from standard for some reason assuming somebody owned it for some reason not sure but got all pressure to passenger side with MSD almost immediately on fire up it was just bypassing to much oil around the distributor with the HEI and priming tool

    Once had an '89 Olds V6 with an oil leak at the distributer shaft. I pulled the distributor and found the O ring to be hard as a rock and square in cross section. Surprisingly, it came off the shaft without breaking. Took it to the parts store and handed it to the very young kid at the counter, told him I needed one just like it. He looked at it for a minute and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but all of the O rings we have are round." A split second later he realized his mistake, but too late to keep everybody at the counter from collapsing in laughter. A hard lesson.

      Lol that’s great my Favorite parts store story I was standing talking to the manager. A guy walks in and is asking one of the counter guys for parts for a 2006 mustang. The kid looks up and says who makes mustang the manager on speaking with walks over to him and says you don’t know who makes mustang guys reply was no he walks away laughing and says you won’t make it here long will you and never told him who made mustang it was great

      @@jb-ik8sj you’re welcome and most cases with a small block I have not had this issue. I’ve only really had it on two big blocks where they would not push oil on the passenger side even running. I fired this engine up and ran it for a short time and it would not push oil on passenger side, who really knows these days we’re working with old engines that have been played with by everyone

    Bubba you need to take another look at those retainers they are definitely not the proper ones for those springs. Almost half the diameter of the spring is out side the retainer and that is not going to end well as that much stress on the outer most portion of the retainer is going to wear like hell and will more than likely end up breaking the retainer and dropping a valve.

      Ran a primer tool for more than a few minutes wile spinning the engine over by hand.
      Cranked it and let it run multiple times
      Then changed the dizzy and used the msd with orings and had oil to top passanger immediately
