Festool Duo Working Light

- The Festool Duo working light is a rugged, mains operated 180 degree LED working light that is protected to IP55 making it an ideal tool on the job site. The is an optional heavy duty tripod that can be adjusted to raise the Duo to 2m in height. The Duo produces a near daylight light at 8000 lumens.
In this video I demonstrate its capabilities and give some comparisons for the 8000 lumen light output.

Great vid Peter, merry christmas to you and yours. Been reading about daffodils in december in the UK, my grandparents would not have believed it was possible. Not even way south on the Isle of Wight.

Hi Pete, I know nothing about US electricity regulations but in the UK I am content that my residual current devices will protect me with all types of electrical kit. Just do not try what you saw me do with the water in the video. Peter

Peter, do you have any speculation as to why Festool chose not to include an on-off switch on the light?
I do not but guess it might be their concept of how the light might be used...turned on at the start of a job and off at the end (or end of a day) which only needs a plug going in or out of a socket. If the light were to be used for brief periods of time then an on/off switch might be handy but most people set it up and use it for extended periods. That is just my guess of course. Peter

+BOBTHEFIXER My tool videos often involve the loan of equipment but every piece of kit that I show in my videos has to pass the "Golden Rule" - I have to be able to recommend it to my very best friend otherwise no video gets made. Naturally the Festool kit passes this test every time and sometimes, like the Duo Work Light, it is something that I would love to have. Maybe Festool know this and are being very kind to me ! Peter

Great video, as always Peter; humorous start is particularly good! Maybe I am looking at it incorrectly but if you remove and mount the light's base to a horizontal piece of wood or a ceiing, say, and then attach the light how do you remove the light from the base afterwards, should you need to? The clips to release the light from the base appeared to be covered up.
+Itz MeAgain I must confess that I spotted this before I uploaded it and expected it to cause a stir a little sooner.... The tabs that I said I pushed to release the base do not need to be touched at all. As you know, I have rather arthritic hands and wrists and so I found it quite tricky to release the base. I seemed to manage it when I played with the tabs but it was just chance. The base is just a friction fit and can be removed very easily by any normal human being especially if they are 2m tall like me ! Cheers. Peter

Thanks for the quick response Peter! My workshop never seems to have enough light in the right place at the right time so this seems to be a useful piece of kit, especially with the various mounting options available.
+Itz MeAgain Festool have been very kind lending this (and other) kit to me so that I can make videos. The colour temperature is almost perfect for video work and I have now convinced myself that I need one too. Peter

carlb401 Just like the Domino XL, BIG thumbs down Festool, make a domino XL in 110 volt for us site users.
It has been asked for by one of the uk dealers, who got them to make some of the sanders in 110v. But Festool flatly refused to make an XL in 110v.

Another great video. But i cannot see the point of this light in the uk for site use as there is no 110v option, so will not be allowed on most if not all uk building sites. :(
Excellent demo as usual, Peter. I haven't seen this product for sale in the U.S. yet, but all their other corded products sold here are 110V 60Hz as far as I know. My TS 55 track saw and OF 1400 router certainly are. Not sure why they wouldn't provide 110V for UK. Your mains current is 50Hz though, right? And a slightly different plug/socket configuration?
+Michael Anderson I can't see a problem producing a 110v version. Yes, we are 50Hz and our plugs and sockets are different from the US and Europe. Peter

+MusicSmith I think you will find most Festool users are hobbyists. It's more expensive initially, but considering you won't have to replace it several times over, its actually a better value.
