As much as I hate to admit this, I have nostalgia for the annoying orange mobile games and their lets play videos from the early 2010s. Do I feel proud to admit it, no. But I'd take the annoying orange over all the deviant kids stuff we have today.

Zardy's maze is actually good, but it sits both on the edge of 'RUclipsr is sufficiently popular' and 'RUclipsr and channel was not directly involved in development (the guy does mostly N64 secret investigation and modding, but he did make videos about making the game)'

Swanky literally makes Investigations and Zardy’s Maze feels like an old N64 Horror Game your child would have fun playing and getting scared, so it fits with his content when you think of the undiscovered lore.
Also, Zardy isn’t in this video.
Fun fact: there is a RUclipsr called MasterOogway, who became popular for his impressions of Oogway, and he has merch. Can you guess what merch was it?

The Soviet Jump Game one still makes me angry when I think about it because they went through this absurd amount of effort to try and convince people that it was this unknown, long-lost bootleg game that they couldn't get working only for it to be revealed to be the game they were publishing.
As someone who is heavily invested in ACTUAL bootleg games and the often deep rabbit holes one can go trying to research them it felt like a slap in the face.

I'm bi so I feel like I have say about the dream daddy thing. Its not taking advantage of the lgbtq community at all, its a game supporting the community. Some people just want to be mad and want an excuse

More Dream Daddy Drama: On the initial release date, fans waited several hours with no option to buy the game on the Steam page. All the while, vague updates on the situation were given out on Twitter. After some time, they announced ON THE DAY IT WAS TO BE RELEASED that the game was to be delayed. The project was clearly and grossly mismanaged.
A grossly mismanaged visual novel is such a joke.
also, it's a horrible representative on gay people, and that was pointed out by DingDong and Julian, a gay couple working for Game Grumps at the time, of which were shunned from the office slowly and overall fucked over by certain office members. the rabbit hole goes deep for the dream daddy crew and game grumps, look into it if you haven't or if you have the time
I don't care how much Dream Daddy is apparently meant to or not meant to pander to people like me, a game with the name "Dream Daddy" is a must-buy no matter what anyone thinks.

in most of the cases youtubers probably were not even behind those games - there are tons of companies, who mass-produce crappy games, they prepared the game already, changed the assets to look like it is linked to particular youtuber and asked them for permission to sell for a cut in incomes

And im pretty sure it was the first youtube video i had ever watched, well that and zackscott games. It was really god damn good back in 2014, and thats why im glad i watched it back then.

Game grumps are openly huge allies for the LGBT and as an openly pan woman, dream daddy is definitely not pandering to the LGBT community, and while I don’t really like the style of visual novel games, the characters and storyline in dream daddy are pretty great

wasn't there a lot of horrendous things aimed towards Ding Dong and his sexuality being gay, don't think it was Arin nor Danny. I remember Ding Dong went on to say the people in game grumps joked about his near suicide would have been good publicity (I think for Dream Daddy) when he was still involved there, and the reason why he nearly committed suicide was because people told his homophobic family that he was homosexual.

hello! gay trans guy here. i love Dream Daddy and i can 100% say (in my humble opinion) that is NOT a pandering game or anything along those lines. it's just a gay dating sim and it's almost never even mentioned that it's gay at all. each of the characters are well fleshed out and have great storylines you can follow, including the character you play as. it's a great game i have no idea how anyone could think that

Sadly, I've seen that a lot myself, where if something is mostly based around gay pairings (ie: certain shows, comics, dating sims, etc.), there'll always be a small group that accuses it of pandering

As a queer person who has played a good amount of dream daddy (ive romanced like 4 of the dads, and i've watched letsplayers romance a few others, so i know a good amount of the routes and content involved), it really isnt "pandering to queer men" anymore than lego games "pander" to children. Its a reallly good game though, and i recommend it, even if youre not a man or attracted to men

As a member of the LGBT community (I'm a trans guy), I personally thought Dream Daddy was a great representation. None of the characters were over the top stereotypes, and they were all unique and memorable. I also loved that you could have your Dadsona be a trans guy, if you wanted, as well. The only thing I wish they'd have done differently is be more up front about Damien being trans. I like that it wasn't his main character trait, but I do wish it had been more than a single passing line if you happened to pick the right option. Other than that, it was a super cute game, and I love it.

I am a member of the LGBT community and I don't see the problem with dream daddy. I've watched Mark's playthrough twice by the way. The game is very genuine and light hearted. There's no malace here.

Yeah I agree. I think there was HUGE backlash for not great reasons. Idk it just doesn’t feel pandering to me. A lot of customization options and content felt like nice rep instead of pandering. At least to me. I feel like a lot of queer media is held to ridiculously high standards sometimes and if it’s not perfect it gets bashed so hard.
Plus there was backlash cause….it was men…dating men??? Like people from our own community saying it should be women instead cause men were, like, gross if I recall correctly?? Idk the backlash seems. Extremely confusing to me in retrospect.

There are some oversensitive people out there that make LGBTQ people look bad. I saw nothing wrong with dream daddy and I'm in the LGBTQ crowd, in fact I loved it.

Theres an application called flashpoint that allows you to play thousands of old flash games, I found an additional 2 fred games, one of which im pretty sure isnt official though, and I also found a smosh flash game. There is another one called boxmans escape, but its not on flashpoint

Dream daddy was fantastic anyone that complained was just whining. It has great representation and is one of the only games that let's you play as a trans man and date a trans man, people just complained that it wasn't 10000% perfect. Choosing beggars is what they are

as a member of the lgbtq+ community - dream daddy fucking rocks. it’s an engaging and thoughtful story with both great humor and great emotional moments. the team was full of queer ppl, n it shows in the writing - mainly that dream daddy is abt *people*, who have lives and personalities outside of being gay. it’s a good romance game bc every character is tangibly different. also you can be trans (+ one of the love interests is trans as well) n this was REVOLUTIONARY at the time. a lot of dream daddy was, actually, bc it had so much depth and care put into it. anyone who says it’s pandering clearly hasn’t actually played the game imo

I actually really liked the pineapple pen game . It was a fun, easy game to play on road trips and since i played on an ipod, i didnt have an internet connection so didnt have to worry about adds. For the voice, I didnt remember cuz i had the game on mute while i listened to downloaded music. The gripe was the way to get skins for the pens was rng since you didnt know what skin you were going to unlock, only the theme. I did like the way you had to earn points to get currency, the different gamemodes were challenging to me, and i liked the bosses/daily challenges

One game I was surprised to not see here was a game involving Pewdiepie and I think had Jacksepticeye and it was called Poopdie, it was a game made by the same people who made bulb boy with 1 chapter available, I have heard of a chapter 2 but idk what happened to it. From seeing some gameplay I think pewdiepie also voiced some lines as well

Tbh I haven't watched PewDiePie in a long time, yet i still play Tuber Simulator and Legend of The Brofist very frequently
AO Carnage is a big nostalgia trip for me. I'm pretty fond of the game, but you are right about the hardness of throwing the fruit. It takes forever to try and master throwing the fruit with enough force to get it into the blender, and throwing the fruit at the stove top is even harder. Besides that, it's a pretty fun game to pass with time with. However, constantly getting the same fruit over and over again and having to listen to the little dialogue every time, AND having to constantly shake your phone to open the cabines is quite annoying. Makes sense since it is a game by the Annoying Orange. It's definitely one of those games you play with no sound on.
In all honesty, back in the day the annoying orange games were HYPE, and I still think they are some of the better RUclipsr games. Also the Keemstar game is super weird and obscure haha

i actually played dude perfect 2 on old phones and it works so much better than the runner and the game just lags when your phone cant handle the ball physics

There's nothing wrong with being biased on your own channel. But I feel like you overlooked a lot of qualities some of these games had that where very good. Im not saying the things you said where wrong or anything. I mostly agree with you. But there was a lot to be enjoyed about a handful of these.
Ngl the annoying orange games were very cool especially at a time where most mobile games had microtransactions, horrible updates, ir just downright bootlegs all over the place.

There was actually one Fred game I was hoping you'd mention that wasn't a flash game!
Not many people remember this but the original Fred channel had a mini animated series called "It's Fred!" and this eventually became it's own mobile game on IOS.
I remember as a kid wanting to play it so badly but couldn't because it actually costed money from what I remember, sadly there's only like one video showcasing it but it was 3D and just basically throwing a rag doll of Fred around Fred's neighborhood collecting potatoes so you could "defeat Kevin".
I just thought it deserved a little more insight given this about RUclipsr games after all lol

There is a small youtuber called "Raw Zebra" who makes My Singing Monsters content. He is currently working on a My Singing Monsters fangame which is way better than it has any right to be.
From a queer perspective, the Dream Daddy “controversy” really gets on my nerves. Every time a straight person writes or produces anything that has to do with LGBT+ characters, everyone gets on them about “pandering” or “queerbaiting” and I genuinely hate it. It feels kinda othering to only allow queer people to write queer characters, at least imo; queerness is a perfectly normal thing and it feels really reductive to claim it’s some exclusive thing that only other queer people are allowed to write about. Straight people, I say go for it and write queer characters (as long as you know what you’re talking about)!
