Is the max flow rate 16 because of humidity and static interference with this method or is they some other reason you can’t go up to 20? Second question, if you know you’re flow rate will drop, can you set it to 16.5 and have it drop to 15.5 to average 16? I assume if the flow rate drops more than 2 it can vary the total volume enough to skew data. So why not run it at 20 if your cowl is properly grounded? As for grounding the cowl, this method poorly attempts to do so. The whole cassette would need a full copper shroud to actually ground the ambient static absorbed by the plastic and the tubing. Having crude strand wire will only reduce static in the area of the stranded wire touches. Why not use a copper sleeve wired to a ground or treat the cassette and pump tubing with an anti static film, or are they and that film has a poor shelf life… hmmm…🧐 spray before use? That strand wire barely does anything the way it’s described… it would be possible to modify an extension chord by removing the hot and neutral wires/ prongs and solder the ground wire to the copper shroud so you can actually “ground” it to the building.

Just a suggestion - wear a light colored shirt when showing how to use a black filter. When attaching the cassette it was very difficult to see which way was the proper direction of the cassette against your dark shirt. I was only able to see it when you moved slightly and I could see the contrast against the wall.

Why did you place the cassette on the area sample in a horizontal position? I always place my area cassettes around 5 feet off the ground and in a vertical position. I put it that height to represent what an average height person walking by the abatement area might be breathing in. And I place it vertically to simulate the way we breathe.

In the UK we have to palce the sampling head between 1-1.5M, sampling head is facing downwards.
Personal sampling head needs to be within 200mm of breathing zone

I realize this is an ancient comment by internet standards, but this is worth pointing out. Technically, the cassette should be positioned at an 45° angle down. This is specified in many state regulations (e.g. Montana).
In this case, I suspect the cassette is horizontal simply for convenience of handling and, hopefully, not an example of how it should be set up for actual sample collection.

In New York regulation is to have the cassette at a 45 Degree angle at or near the average breathing zone.

Imagine getting contractors who remove the asbestos to do their own clearance air testing. Like you ever get a failure. Mad, your equipment is from 1960 btw

@@elvinebovine1297 in the UK its an independent company who does the air testing and they need UKAS accreditation. I was an air analyst, on some bad jobs, their visual inspections air tests failed like 12 times, and took an extra week to get right. Thats how bad some contractors are.

@@fastair8546 same in the states. Here it’s AHERA and OSHA. Worst visual I’ve done you can’t really even call it an inspection because the new guy didn’t remove everything, put plastic over the rest, didn’t spray the containment just the tipped over open bag of what he did “remove”, then left after telling me it’s all good. It failed at the door, literally because his whole “containment” was dotted with tape at the seams… not actually containing anything. It just got progressively worse from there. Now I don’t even check the rest of the containments after it fails, not worth my time. I called my boss, befuddled… I tried tracking the guy down to ask wtf? But he left. My boss called his. His boss called him and he gave some excuse like he wasn’t feeling good. Dude was clearly strung out and gonna pull a fast one to get money for his habit, lied to his boss that he was there and everything was fine, got fired instead. Luckily the place wasn’t occupied, but cleanup after that wasn’t cheap I heard. Well it was for who ever owned it😅 Don’t do drugs, kids… (as if any are watching or in the comments section)
