- The Ducati Diavel V4 is BACK!
Not that it went anywhere, but we we've been busy with some of our other toys :)
Today we tackle some weight savings and drivetrain upgrades! Yes, we are doing the 520 conversion.
DID makes a spectacular chain that is not only beautiful, but saves weight, and the Superlite sprocket and cush drives take it all a step further while also looking beautiful.
And all the weight saved here is on the drivetrain, which allows us to put more power down to the wheels!

Next are the carbon fiber wheels! And they look amazing... Stay tuned 👀
What color do you think the Diavel V4 will be?!
Yellow
Bruised purple.
I just did a 520 conversion on my 1260S yesterday. Only went up a tooth in the back (44T). I used an EK 3D chain and AEM Factory hub and sprocket kit. All that said, it was 100% worth it.
I definitely need to get a set of wheels.
Keep up the damn good work!!!
Actually to clarify, the 520erv7 chain isn't stronger than a 525zvmx2 chain, but it is lighter, and it's strong enough. I've left both my big bikes on a 525, as I'm not worried about the weight of the drivetrain. But I did change my mt07 to a 520 (although that's a small engine so I used the vx3 variant).
Coming along nice! Listening to the exhaust on your IG posts and my lord does that bike sound good!
Yes it does! Thank you!
Always gonna comment, always gonna like for the algo... keep up the Diavel content. Love it.
Thank you!
I call the half circle wrenches a Spanner Wrench can be used for ajustable coilovers.
Yup, same ones!
525 to 520 conversion ,you do exact same # or links ? Seems like with smaller chain u need more links ? Are 520 links same length but narrower ?
Yes the link length is the same. The chain is just narrower. But the chain material is better since the tensile strength is higher than the factory 525 chain.
Another great run down Mani 🙏🏽👍🏽😎 Thankyou , always great builds .
Thanks again!
Hi Mani, us planning to put ceramic wheel bearings?
Yes the carbon wheels does have ceramic bearings.
Titanium chain ⛓️ in the future! 🤔😁😎
Titanium is too soft of a material, would het chewed up right away.
Just curious how come you don't go down one tooth on the front sprocket to get even more acceleration? Also thinking maybe you're going to go with the bright matte red/white like on the 1299 SL and the new Multistrada RS
The stock gearing is pretty good for urban riding.
@@Motomillionsame thing with the streetfighter V4 going up one tooth to match the panigale is kinda point less IMO
@@GoGoggansGo Panigale's geared in the opposite direction. Streetfighter is geared for more torque from the factory.
Is there a black version of the DID ERV7 Chain
No, just a gold one.
Thank you very much.
@@Motomillion
Didn't fancy lowering the gearing with a smaller 15T sprocket and larger rear then Mani? Would be fun for the diavel as it's long and won't wheelie...
It accelerates quick enough. Didn’t think it is missing any lower end power.
@@Motomillion fair doos. I recently lowered the gearing on my Tuono and s1000r, and it makes it so much fun as you use more revs at lower speeds
Did I miss where he gave the total weight saved?
I have a V2 and the fan has stopped coming on to cool the rads, I had the same issue with my 1299 a while back. Does anyone know what it may be?
The fans don't usually come on until around 215 degrees. If you get a BT Moto ECU flash you can have the temperature they come on at brought way down. Assuming nothing's wrong with them that is.
@@constantineberryman4968 where do you get it flashed in the UK though?
RTFM 😂😂😂, page 301 of owner's Manual "Gearbox output sprocket/rear chain sprocket ratio: 16/43"...
Haha great info!
Weight of chain no diff... magazine tested this on zx10r.. changed chain an sprockets.. diff was 0.2 of sec standstill to 150 mph
Upto 150mph, there is a lot more than just a couple HP needed to change the acceleration numbers. Also how did they make sure the two runs were exactly equal launches, same exact grip levels, same wind direction and speed? MotoGP teams have to make sure the bikes traction control is adjusted correctly when they swap out a chain. That says a lot about what a chain can do to a motorcycle.
@Motomillion you never get exact runs same with human imput.. they used same bike same rider same morning.. the done 5 runs b4 and after and 0.2 was best gain.. obv that's just that test and was designed as a sort of myth buster series they done... anyway love the vids and projects.. safe
A lightweight chain makes no sense to me on any bike larger than a middleweight. You will not gain enough to justify this. Lightweight chains are mainly used in racing or 400cc or less. Might as well put aluminum sprockets on too 🤦🏻♂️
You should research this a bit more. Even on a machine like a MotoGP bike the chain makes a huge difference on the power delivery and parasitic loss.
@@Motomillion Yes, but 99.9% of your audience isn’t racing nor do they have a mechanic to make the chassis adjustments to actually have an affect that would warrant a lightweight chain. Again, if your racing and need that little bit extra to get you by the guy in front of you down the straight..ok. I did this to my “Crippled” 600 (a 450 after disabling a cylinder) along with Aluminum sprockets whit did net me a gain but again this was a racing environment.
That being said, Anything over a 600 is not going to be worth it. These bikes have too much power and we are restricting the power delivery so we’re not sent to the moon from a nasty high side.
Now..doing a conversion to 520, 525 or whatever to make tire changes easier if you’re doing a lot of track days is definitely worth it.
I just bought a Diavel V4 and would like you to stop making these videos please, your giving me to many ideas 🙈 I definitely do not want to see the carbon wheels episode 🥵 😬
Wait till you see the carbon wheels!
Nooooooo I want them to look terrible
