@@homecinemaking397 Yeah I used the MultEQ app in combination with the AVR app. It sounded too bright and airy at first, and I had to get it dialed in manually. Once I did though it sounds better than the 2700. I know people say going from the AKM DAC to the TI DAC is inaudible, but I honestly disagree. There is definitely a change in the sound characteristic.. I had both the 2700 and 3800 plugged in side by side and was able to (somewhat) do A/B testing
Easy to setup and the meaty amp section on the x3800h really shines. Well built and packed with features that make it future proof. This has everything that you would ever need. Yes you could buy something more expensive like a marantz, but how much better will the results be? Denon have really nailed it with the x3800h. If you get your room acoustics sorted and pick speakers that are at least 8ohms and have good impedance, then you can't go wrong with this. Amazing value for money.
I love denon the s760h was fantastic but I can’t justify the extreme prices for the big boys at 1699 it’s crazy expensive when I got a rz50 for 1299 and then you have to pay 350 extra to be able to get Dirac so now your at 2k plus
I realize that this video is a year old, but hoping someone can provide me with the part number for the recommended “upgraded” remote that can be used with the 3800h???
This looks great (thanks for the review, mate) ... I have a couple of questions, but I'm totally not asking with any expectation or entitlement to answers ... but if you have them, then grand :) : 1. Can it passthrough 120hz Dolby Vision gaming with VRR turn on and tearing tech like AMD Freesync from an X-Box Series One? 2. Can the pre-outs be used at the same time as the speaker outs?
The 50 but purely for the looks and the new remote. Sound they are very much the same with the Marantz more tuned towards the music perspective. So if its for mostly movies go Denon and if you want that bit more style and also serious about music go Marantz👌
@@homecinemaking397 currently im running 9.2 , since this one have dirac im very interested in this unit. Ive seen you also reviewed marantz avrs. Hows the sound quality with this denon compared to the marantz in pre amp mode? Specifically with sr8015?
Ok so the 4700 has more power but that is where it ends. The tech in the new series is beyond words. The new 4800H due soon will be mind blowing and is also made in Japan again and not China. But that said im sure you spend around have of what the new units cost so its still worth it.
Hai i am from India and a proud owner of the 3800H , it's a great unit has all the bells and whistles a movie buff needs , the only grip is that after caliberation the set up is supposed to be saved in one of the presets, but after twerking all the things I find that the settings go for a toss by itself the next time i power on the unit, it's driving me nuts , please guide me as to how to save the caliberated settings to the pre set and also how to copy the same preset to all the sources hooked to the amp in different ports , awaiting your reply in this regard at the earliest
Ok so this should not happen and its the one thing i like about Denon and Marantz. The only time a the calibration file will be dropped is of you change your amp assignment after you have calibrated. So amp assignment first and then calibrate, select to save to 1 or 2 and you are done. This should then be calibrated across all inputs as standard. You can still go play around with levels and stuff like that it will not affect you calibration file.
Techno dad made a little vid on this bug that denon suffers from after the Dirac live update firmware was applied. The quick select wipes out all the distances and tone settings. see if this applies to you. ruclips.net/video/hmzKa4eBwm0/видео.html
No ability to listen to movies or music at low volumes. Plus, when the movie Dynamics change, one might find themselves having to reach for the remote control. For me, it's with Denon's 2 channel audio where it really falls apart. Certainly wouldn't class it as the best of the best.
Best in its price point. The problems you describe are easy to get around with proper calibration of your system. For better 2ch then look at the Marantz.
full Dirac is another $800, no backlit remote, made in Vietnam. Other than that all looks ok. x4800h not worth extra $800. Taking into account upcoming recession its may be reasonable to wait for fall sale. 3800 can easely go below $1,000.
Not gonna lie the 3800 took longer to get it sounding on point than the 2700, but once I got it, it felt like a light went on. Sounds phenomenal
💪 dis you use the app?

Never say future proof. Bill Gates said that once, back in the 80s.

It doesnt eliminate the need for minidsp. Many more options offered by the minidsp
It did for me.
I wish it had Direc Live like some of the Onkyo and Pioneer line.
It will very soon👌
@@homecinemaking397 for 350 dollars more
The Rz50 is cheaper, sounds better and comes with dirac.
Waiting for AIH 15 channel
Ooohhhh😊😊😊😊😊❤❤
Me too👍
IMO the upgraded 32bit processor and seperate/independant 2 channel settings on the x4000h series makes it worth it.
This is true👌
Seems like the directional sub would not be good if you have 4 subs for the purpose of eliminating nulls in response across seating positions

Cheers, mate ... it really is a 'price to performance' champion at under a grand (if it is still that price).
It can pass through 120 DV and VRR but no AVR on the market can pass both Freesync and Gsync yet. No AVR on the market supports 48 gbps HDMI yet

Sorry for my ignorance, does the E2 version mean 220v?
ashame you pay so much for a amp and yet the remote is something out of the 1990s. wow denon wow.
Plan on getting the Marantz Cinema 50 remote then it’s backlit I believe and just nicer and compatible

How does this compare in all aspects including price to the Onkyo RZ50?
Here the price is better im not sure of other places.
The RZ50 doesn’t have 4 independent sub outputs, also, you can’t configure the RZ50 for 6 height channels!

It already did. Adorama has them for $999. Picked one up couple weeks ago, at that price theres no AVR that can beat it
