I have just lost my baby son Darragh. I will be leaving the hospital soon and he will go to the mortuary. I have been told to say my goodbyes but I have no words for him. I just play this beautiful song to him in the hopes that he can somehow feel it's beauty too. I send this song to Darragh and his angel brother Callum 🩵
Dear Myles, It's a historic collection of films that you're producing. Thank you. It's good to hear the living music and feel the connection. No faithless interpretations here... no dry air gap to history but vital roots and shoots sipping from the stream. It's a great project. Thanks again.
The Deepest Breath Cold the hand that once held yours Furrowed face now forever empty She was old before she’d lived her youth Hollowed out in a land of plenty Did you dream last night child? Did your dream stay with you? Oh the city sucks the wild from your mind So hold your dream before it hits you And wear your dreams, they’re all that fit you We dig these graves now every day Eternal homes denied in lifetime And the rich men wave our lives away Can’t see a soul without a pricetag Did you dream last night child? Did your dream stay with you? Oh, this town can burn the bright of your mind So hold your dream before it hits you And wear your dreams, they’re all that fit you Oh sing friend if you’ve a song to sing For your songs are a glimpse of a flickering freedom And we’re not yet spent and we’ve a world to win Ah there’ll be no king but it’ll be our kingdom Did you dream last night child? Did your dream stay with you? Oh this land can leech the light from your life So hold your dream before it hits you And wear your dreams they’re all that fit you Ah will you sing on now, love You’ve got songs a plenty Oh they’ll try to tear the truth from your mouth So sing on strong, make sure they’ve felt it Ah sing on now for your soul’s not empty Sing on, sing on, In your song flies the highest hope of all Dream on, dream on, Our dreams are the deepest breath we draw
When that concerta kicks in... Woaw, what a great synergy these musicians and their instruments have. In tone and talent. Thank you so much for these recordings Myles. It is hard to get a whiff of modern traditional irish musicians here. Your video's are a treasure.
I felt this in my marrow. we cannot forget that the Irish Famine is part of who we are, no matter how much we think we have left it behind. My father, remembered his grandfather who was born in 1841 speak of the famine, and how empty, quiet and forlorn the countryside became in the following decades. Thank you Myles for recording such wonderful artists as Eoghan, Radie Peat, Ye Vagabonds, just to mention a few. You are the Gareth De Bruyn of out time.
This song has skill, intellect, and quality. It will not do these days. Thank God for the few, and thank God for the many, for the latter shows plainly that death is indeed not the worst possibility, however terrible and fearful the prospect.
I never get tired of watching your videos. They gave me back the ability to contemplate my childhood. And the calm that accompanies it. They shelter the soul. Thank you.
Radio 3 music planet put me here, brilliant stuff, music ,video and what better than to do it in the kitchen, looking forward to listening to all your other music, I won.
A great ballad for our time! Beautifully performed vocally and instrumentally. This art engenders hope and invites joy into the struggle of making a more inclusive and just social order.
After meeting in O'Neil's on Halloween 2019 I told Eoghan that my Grandmother was a Canavan and we may be related, turns out we are cousins!! Go Raibh Maith Agat!
This is a great song but im not sure about the ethics of filming people at the food bank etc- did you get everyones permissions? But yeah the song and muscianship are great and the filming too x
In Ireland, permission is not needed to photograph or film people in a public space. I have been filming in this manner and posting here for 12 years. I feel what I capture is important social reaslism. I'm disappointed to hear that you consider such a practice unethical but I am completely within my rights.
@@myles.o.reilly thanks for your reply, not sure what I think tbh but something that I guess comes up a lot with creative work. I really like your work generally. 👍

It's time to retreat into the music & mix our tears.
Aye Lass, life is a struggle, hold close your wee boy Callum. Slainte Callum
So sorry for your loss x
my thoughts are with you.. I've been there
My heart goes out to go you. You and your son are in my thoughts
*_Heartbreakingly beautiful - It touches a place that we should visit a lot more often than we do ..._*

Playing this on my radio show tomorrow in Taos, New Mexico.
Good man. You have excellent taste. It's an extraordinary piece of work all round.

A song for our times... this song is haunting me... what a brilliant person wrote and performs this ...

Thank you
Wonderful seeing you last evening at Other Voices. Thank you so much for sharing your music.
A true comrade who writes beautiful songs and has a breathtaking voice to boot. I am envious 😅
When you discover this & just listen to it ten times in a row 😊
*_I have listened to this everyday, at least twice a day since discovering it over a month ago ..._*
*blink blink* what did I just stumble across while looking up a Netflix documentary about free diving? 😳 What a pleasant surprise!
Saw him singing in Walshe's pub, Stoneybatter Dublin. Great singer.
Eoghan really is brilliant hope he gets some more recognition
Does he sing anywhere live ?
@@Ajmorno1 he’s got a gig coming up in Whelan’s soon
Go hálainn. Ní ón ngaoth a thóg sibh é.
I keep coming back to this one. More than being a song of the times I think it's maybe THE song of our times.
Let's be real here, this is not just music this is not just art, this is poetry.absolutely awesome have it on repeat since I found it
I've heard tons of poets. I prefer to call this music and art.
I have it one repeat as well, so beautiful
Agreed!! Repeat !
music is the highest art. It fills the gaps that words can't reach.
This song epitomises my current reality. The Irish rhetoric never fails to provide an accurate and empathetic social commentary.
‘They try to tear the Truth from your mouth!.......’ great tune. Thank you, go raith maith agat!
Myles and Eoghan and musicians - this deserves millions of views. Keep up the great work, stay strong and confident, lads and lasses.

A self-fulfilling song, a high hope and deeply wise words.
