OOOO you right! Like it doesn’t quite look seamless and real but it doesn’t look bad and now you say it, I see that they look like paintings coming to life
The literal translation of the Korean title is "Queen of the Night" which is a flower that only blooms at night and withers before dawn (from the cactus family, I think). You can also find the flower in their album logo.
I forgot who pointed this out but someone pointed out that every single scene in the MV, even the hard colour flashes and chroma key scenes has a soft, glowy, dreamy feel to it. The choice of soft lighting throughout the MV is made to feel as if it has been brightened by moonlight, as if there is a moon shining down on the MV (also like Tomoon's care shining down on ONEUS!). And I just think that is so smart considering the moon element in this (Queen of the Night flower, yearning for the moon) which fits the title so well (which if you take the hanja literally, means beauty under the moonlight). Not only is the Queen of the Night a flower that blooms only at night, it has ties to a Korean folktale of a beauty who was transformed into a flower and resolved to wait for her lover, the moon, blooming only when there is moonlight to show her love to the moon, but then withering because the moon never noticed (not my point, just some super smart tomoon's analysis I saw). And I just think all these elements are so so smart in this song. It has so many layers. And considering ONEUS' fans are ToMoons, something that also has to do with the moon, it makes it all the more meaningful. And also today, 17/11/2021, ONEUS' first win, is apparently also a day with full moon. Mindblown. It's as if destiny willed it.
This is Oneus's sound. I've never seen or heard of traditional and modern influences done like this before. I feel like they've finally found their niche. Can't wait to see their next project.
Yes, they need to do this kinda more often, you know kpop groups always do at least one cb with a traditional Korean sound in their career like this one but oneus found their signature sound
@@JulioGA14 i agree to you. but i guess we will be waiting for them to do this traditional concept again in after years because they are throwing different concepts on each comebacks. im sad theres not a lot of luna performances because some mushows are cancelled like probably the cases of k-groups comebacks in around of oct-dec.
"Please tell my lover the words that I failed to deliver" I swear to god my heart DIED the second he sang that line. The enitre song is so pretty but sad in both the actual sound of the song and in the lyrics. This song really has my heart in a chokehold, truly
I have to completely agree with this, their live stage at their concert and on music shows so far are just exceptionally beautiful, the MV doesn't do the choreography justice
To hear you say this is their best comeback is SO validating, on top of them getting their first ever win today. And to think, ONEUS had to FIGHT to have this be the title track. RBW didn't want to promote it! Now look at them. Kings. KINGS.
the chinese wording 月下美人 means 'the beauty under the moon'! this comeback blew my mind! they really keep getting better. So proud of them for finally achieving their 1st win today. Truly truly a talented group
My first reaction after watching Luna is "how dare oneus make me betray queen lit?" because damn this has become my favorite tt of them. Been waiting for this reaction and my heart is so full with all the praises + the win last night. 😭
They legit fought and made a PowerPoint to make Luna a title track! Here we are today with a well deserved first win!! Virtual hugs to Oneus and ToMoons!! This is definitely a game changing comeback.
月下美人 means beauty beneath the moon, it's a very popular poetic and melancholic image in the Sino-cultural sphere going back to classical times (I know it from Japanese, where it's pronounced gekka bijin). It can also mean queen of the night in reference to the flower the night-blooming cereus. That's why LUNA's lyrics so heavily feature moon and flower imagery. Poetically this song is just utterly gorgeous; the boys truly outdid themselves.
A bit late here but PD, that wasn’t a simple reaction video, that was a WHOLE ASS PHD PRESENTATION ABOUT THIS MASTERPIECE. And I absolutely love it when you go nuts over a song/video. Oneus is definitely one of the best boy groups out there and I’m so happy they’re finally getting the recognition they deserved since day one
In the final chorus I think it's Choi Yelim's vocals, not an instrument. She also worked with ONEUS on the intro. Her vocals are insane and fit the traditional + contemporary concept in such an amazing way.
My god I ended up crying (yet again), a mix of PD's beautiful words and praise and the fact that they got their long overdue first win. I'm just so proud of them and proud to be a ToMoon
I thought I was the only one?! Like what is wrong w me because this made me cry too! So many layers of validation happening here. And especially so very happy for Oneus.
I'm pretty sure pd-nim uploaded earlier cause Oneus finally won their first win on show champion today as the first 4th gen bg to win their first win on show champion 💖
I actually asked my Korean teacher about the title and she said it's a very old-fashioned phrase not used anymore, it translates to beauty (미인) under (하) the moon (월)
i'm not a part of the fandom (at this point i don't even know why) but my jaw dropped as soon as i clicked on the video, and when the chorus came on i actually jumped out of my seat! this is definitely one of the best songs i've heard this year (kpop or non-kpop) and definitely one of my favorite oneus songs. It was absolutely amazing
I don't know anything about ONEUS beside the name of the group and two songs, and I literally came here because my mind was totally blown by this comeback and I needed to know if it was just something personal but now I see it is not; it is simply THAT great. Such a masterpiece comeback. I'm glad they got their first win. I will be checking all of their title tracks and maybe listen to their discography, they're an interesting group and I wasn't aware until LUNA made me see it. Truly a breaking point for them, I hope they gain even more recognition!
Thank you for checking them out. I have always loved Oneus but like you said, this comeback is such a masterpiece. It's deffinitely my fav tt from them
Weolhamiin (Epiphyllum oxypetalum) is a type of flower. That flower only blooms at night and withers before dawn. "You are like a lonely blossoming flower" "Like the flower that blossomed to show its love to the moonlight" It fits the lyrics
as soon as i first heard Leedo hit that high note i was like "oh PD is gonna lose it" >w< but honestly this whole thing is so impeccably crafted, i'm glad it became their first win! they've tried a ton of concepts and they always perform well, but i hope this solidifies traditional Korean themes as like, their core concept. they do it so SO well
when pd mentioned big bang and bts, i've got teary eyed. oneus truly is an exceptional group that gives something new every comeback but still retains their identity. it's so rare to find a group as diverse as oneus. hands down the best reaction
you're so relatable in this episode hsdsjdskjsda the way you hollering at Xion finally got lines??? or the "sorry I was so busy staring at Leedo's face"??? hjdhsjjdsk SAME
Reading the comments about how Oneus had to persuade for this song to become the title track and now they have earned their first win just shows another example of how companies need to eventually trust artists with their own careers. You (the company) have taught them everything you can; now let them take ownership and demonstrate not only what they have learned but also their unique perspective. Having said all of that I believe this comeback is better for them having to fight for it to be the title track. The additional effort and detail has given them more ownership and helps them grow as artists.
7:15 There are a lot of truths to these words. While in my heart, Oneus was always an A tier group, I understand that not everyone see them that way. BUT THIS SONG!!! It's so phenomenal and IT GOT THEM THEIR FIRST WIN!!!! They really are rising up in the Kpop industry with Luna!!!!
This song took me out of my comfort zone, ONEUS had been doing it for a while, but something made me keep listening to them, and up to this point I love their work, now I see LUNA as a book opening up telling a story full of melancholy (thanks to quote that word), it’s beautifully different.
The title 월하미인 is a kind of flower from cactus, (I think it is called the epiphyllum in English) which only bloom at night. Since ONEUS have the vampire concept since their debut, they are not able to die, the only way to meet their lover is waiting until that person get rebirth. So the epiphyllum flower is the symbol of the person they are waiting for during a long period of time. Also really want to see your reaction of INTRO:WINDOW, I think it's their best connect with the intro and title track, it must be a set. They even find a 소리꾼 최예림 to feat their intro in order to tell the whole background story, which is really a master piece. I love they combined perfectly with performance, story and the song all together in these two videos. And pretty sure that you will also love it to. Always thanks for your reaction. : )
I love ONEUS. They are my second favorite male group (behind ATEEZ). They are so underrated. Their vocals are always on point and I love the way their songs are produced. Their songs always have something unexpected in them. And they have some of the most amazing track lists. They need more love and recognition.
The main reason behind Xion lack of confidence in the past is that he had very, very little training time, especially compared to the other members and he used to feel like he wasnt as good as them and didnt want to ''ruin'' the songs. Since then, he gained a lot of confidence (tomoons often call it the ascenXion) and its incredible to see him sing and dance with so much confidence
THEY FINALLY GOT THEIR FIRST WIN WITH LUNA!! It was all meant to be! Regarding Xion, he's definitely gotten a lot more confident - because he had the least amount of training time of all the members, he was always worried about his voice, but he's constantly pushed himself to improve and now here we are!! Leedo does more singing on ONEUS tracks imo than he does rapping, he was the one who opened up Valkyrie, he's been doing this since debut. This was probably his shortest rap break though (but is made up for with the intro - hopefully when you do the listening party, you also check out the video for Intro). Thanks as always for your reactions PD - I too always thought Lit was their best song, and can't believe how Luna blows all of it away. Fun fact - Luna was originally going to be another ONEUS THEATRE track and the boys actually pushed for this song to the CEO to be made the title track instead. They really poured their heart and soul into Blood Moon.
I know Oneus through Weekly idol with ATEEZ. and I really loved their interaction. Fast forward to Black mirror. The song was just too good. I heard it a lot on Spotify. Thats when I went back and checked their old songs. And all the songs PD mentioned here are just bops. This song is literally 11/10 like he said. The aesthetics are so pleasing and so are the vocals. Im a big fan of vocals and a good choreography and after Ateez if any group can satisfy me, it has to be Oneus. I went to vote for them for show champion and Im glad they had their first win. This comeback might even turn me into a tomoon. Thats what their fandom is called right? Congratulations Oneus. This comeback needs to blow up in Korea and worldwide. People should stop sleeping on them.
all the praises for oneus made me tear up. i'm so happy hearing praises for these hardworking boys. they really deserve it. CONGRATULATIONS TO ONEUS' 1ST WIN!!!
I would've talked about this cb for 30min as well, and then another extra 30min about how I think they're so amazing, talented, good-looking they are and probably would've ended up crying. So, yes, I agree with you PD.
I loved Lit and this as well. Idk what it is about the way they do they modernised traditional sound but gosh is it goood. I cried when they finally got a win. Well done Tomoons and let's keep the momentum
This comeback made me a fan! It is beautiful and you conveyed my thoughts well. It does feel like they leveled up because this comeback is surreal. It’s so good, and it’s funny you mentioned Haru Haru because that is what this comeback reminded me of. I truly feel like they found their style and sound with this comeback. They tried many concepts and pulled them off, learned from them, and it culminated with this amazing comeback.

Your breakdown analysis/discussion was so spot on to how I've felt about this comeback -- I've been sincerely hoping that this is the turning point for Oneus, everything about this comeback has been truly perfect.
PD's "HOLY CRAP! WHAT HAPPENED?" summarizes perfectly my reaction when I listened to Luna for the first time... And the very same reaction I had knowing ONEUS just got their 1st win today
one thing i'd like to point out is how they repeated a line from intro: window ("flow with time, flow with the wind") which i absolutely LOOOOOOVE it's like the to be or not to be / dead or alive mirroring & i live for it. makes them feel even more cohesive which really adds to the immersion PLUS!! i feel like oneus has truly found their place as the new concept kings of kpop. when i first saw the mv of luna, some of the visuals gave me the vibes of shangri-la by vixx which by all means couldnt be a bad thing at all bec that song was a cultural reset AND SO WAS THIS!!!([& just reminds me how badly i wanted oneus to get shangri-la on rtk) it hit me at that moment that it has just been That Long since i saw a title track like this in kpop - it takes the traditional crossover in the direction of elegant/sentimental instead of more hip-hop which most songs with the traditional vibe (including Lit) . i'm so glad that they pushed for this to be a title track AND WON WITH IT. congrats oneus & congrats tomoons!!! lets stick together for more comebacks & wins to come
2021 is the year of the ascenXion! Dongju had less than a year of training so when Oneus debuted he was still very very unsure of himself. But this year we've seen him gain confidence in leaps and bounds, and it's been so rewarding to watch! It's also been super rewarding to see this song get so much love.
the fact that you mentioned kingdom is so on point tho bc i feel like ever since rtk and kingdom itself bg groups have been stepping it up incredibly like tbz, skz and now oneus giving us stages for title tracks that involve much more complex and awestriking performances
Yeah, I agree with you. This song makes me so emotional. I was at their online concert. My first impression was so emotional from the stage of this song. Every moment of their live performance was just amazing. Especially, vocals, the melody, choreography, and meaning of this song make me so emotional. Then after 2 days, MV came out.
I love looking at the moon, I'll think of Oneus everytime I looked into the moon to make me remember their first win
"Please tell my lover the words that I failed to deliver"
I swear to god my heart DIED the second he sang that line.
The enitre song is so pretty but sad in both the actual sound of the song and in the lyrics. This song really has my heart in a chokehold, truly
the crazy thing with luna is that as amazing as the mv and studio version are, it's even better live! luna was made to be performed in my opinion
I have to completely agree with this, their live stage at their concert and on music shows so far are just exceptionally beautiful, the MV doesn't do the choreography justice
PD - moved by Oneus’s comeback
Me - moved by PD’s reaction
Sameee, I was so happy at pd's reaction^^
hands down one of the most unique concepts in kpop this year
When ONEUS first dropped this all I thought was PD HAS TO LISTEN HE WILL LOVE IT!!
Did I mention that there's not a single English word in this song? Even ravn's catchphrase means ra recites poetry in hangul
Truly truly a talented group
this is my favourite title track by oneus so far
The song is influence by chinese culture, can you explain me everything about it,pls? ♡♡♡
Finally our boys have 1st WIN today!!!
CONGRATS TOMOONS!!!
This comeback was already a masterpiece and then it went and got ONEUS their first win which makes it a treasure ❤️
My god I ended up crying (yet again), a mix of PD's beautiful words and praise and the fact that they got their long overdue first win. I'm just so proud of them and proud to be a ToMoon
I am so proud omg 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I thought I was the only one?! Like what is wrong w me because this made me cry too! So many layers of validation happening here. And especially so very happy for Oneus.
I'm pretty sure pd-nim uploaded earlier cause Oneus finally won their first win on show champion today as the first 4th gen bg to win their first win on show champion 💖
Funfact but LUNA wasn't supposed to be the title track but they all love it so they fought for it. And now they got their 1st win with LUNA.
Where did you hear this info? 🙏
@@sekaranjani1267 If I remember it right, Seoho and Leedo said this themselves. They already mention about this a few times
I wonder what the tt would be if LUNA didn't become the title song??
@@moody-eclipse3226 probably a stronger and bolder song since rbw wanted them to follow the strong boygroup concept after rtk
I already Know PD loves it!! CAUSE ALL OF US WERE BLOWN AWAY BY THIS
Just a few hours ago ONEUS got their first win 🏆❤️ LUNA IS A MASTERPIECE 🎴
I actually asked my Korean teacher about the title and she said it's a very old-fashioned phrase not used anymore, it translates to beauty (미인) under (하) the moon (월)
i'm not a part of the fandom (at this point i don't even know why) but my jaw dropped as soon as i clicked on the video, and when the chorus came on i actually jumped out of my seat! this is definitely one of the best songs i've heard this year (kpop or non-kpop) and definitely one of my favorite oneus songs. It was absolutely amazing
'lit' now has a worthy opponent for oneus's best title track
THEY WON THEIR FIRST WIN ON SHOW CHAMP LAST NIGHT AHHHH PERFECT TIMING omg our hard work already paid off. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
YESSSS OMGG 😭😭😭😭😭😭
It's deffinitely my fav tt from them
100% agree. This is their best. They look amazing, sound amazing and absolutely deserve their win for this
Weolhamiin (Epiphyllum oxypetalum) is a type of flower.
That flower only blooms at night and withers before dawn.
"You are like a lonely blossoming flower"
"Like the flower that blossomed to show its love to the moonlight"
It fits the lyrics
as soon as i first heard Leedo hit that high note i was like "oh PD is gonna lose it" >w<
but honestly this whole thing is so impeccably crafted, i'm glad it became their first win! they've tried a ton of concepts and they always perform well, but i hope this solidifies traditional Korean themes as like, their core concept. they do it so SO well
when pd mentioned big bang and bts, i've got teary eyed. oneus truly is an exceptional group that gives something new every comeback but still retains their identity. it's so rare to find a group as diverse as oneus. hands down the best reaction
"Xion got lines" 😂
hes getting more confident i love it
They got their first win after 2 years and 10 months of hard work 😭😭
you're so relatable in this episode hsdsjdskjsda the way you hollering at Xion finally got lines??? or the "sorry I was so busy staring at Leedo's face"??? hjdhsjjdsk SAME
Reading the comments about how Oneus had to persuade for this song to become the title track and now they have earned their first win just shows another example of how companies need to eventually trust artists with their own careers.
"an incredible work of art"
indeed, very true
It’s a huge huge bop
You're soo rightt. This should be more popular!! Also, welcome new tomoon😄
Dammm you should watch their intro: window as well! ONEUS once again prove that they’re one of the best 4th gen boy group!!
This song really is the song that got me to get so into them. So proud they won their first win today! They deserve it!
you said this song was on another level and they got their first ever win today think u were right PD!
The speed with which I ran here !
You can even hear the fans, the details are crazyyy
all the praises for oneus made me tear up. i'm so happy hearing praises for these hardworking boys. they really deserve it. CONGRATULATIONS TO ONEUS' 1ST WIN!!!
This is one of nicest concepts i have seen from a bg in ages, i absolutely love it sososososo much
ONEUS really outdid themselves with this song😀
I would've talked about this cb for 30min as well, and then another extra 30min about how I think they're so amazing, talented, good-looking they are and probably would've ended up crying.
So, yes, I agree with you PD.
I loved Lit and this as well. Idk what it is about the way they do they modernised traditional sound but gosh is it goood. I cried when they finally got a win. Well done Tomoons and let's keep the momentum
This is really "This is that song" as you've said hahahaha, GREAT evaluation! ONEUS just got their first win yayyy
It also has a hanja title which is 月下美人
it means 'beauty under the moon(light)'
not even embarrassed to admit i teared up seeing they got their first win. so proud of these boys, such an amazing track.
Just beautiful from ONEUS, literally no faults. They’re insane ❤️
It goes to 11, damn. 💜💚🧡💛💙 Edit: A blue rose is considered a symbol of the trials and tribulations one has to endure when searching for true love.
Welcome new tomoon 🎊🎊🎊
This got me into Oneus, blown away by this magical video.
There is a reason why ONEUS are my most listened artist this year so far!
Their entire discography is perfection
Yesss I liked all of their songs, there are very few artist that I binge listen to and Oneus is now my ult kpop bg because of their discography.
@@katebanez7918 that's great I hope they'll get more love and appreciation like this🌸🤭
It's so nice to see Luna surpassed pd love for Gaja ♡♡♡
Luna is a masterpiece ♡♡♡
And the song that brought Oneus first win ♡♡♡
This is definitely top notch and game changing for Oneus ♡♡♡
They got their first win today!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏
ONEUS JUST GOT THEIR FIRST WIN AFTER 2 YEARS. I AM CRYING. THEY DESERVE IT ALL OF IT. THEY PRODUCED BOP AFTER BOP. THEIR HARD WORK FINALLY PAID OFF. 😢😱
The quickness at which I clicked this notification haha. Watching your face throughout the initial reaction mirrored how I reacted during my first playthrough. Your breakdown analysis/discussion was so spot on to how I've felt about this comeback -- I've been sincerely hoping that this is the turning point for Oneus, everything about this comeback has been truly perfect.
ONEUS GOT FIRST WIN TODAY!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTION😭😭❤❤❤
PD's "HOLY CRAP! WHAT HAPPENED?" summarizes perfectly my reaction when I listened to Luna for the first time... And the very same reaction I had knowing ONEUS just got their 1st win today
This song is a masterpiece. It's my favourite song of all time and it deserves their first win and so much more. Truly song of the year for me.
Oneus is one of the few male groups, like SHINee, where I don't have a bias. I love them so much and they deserved their win ❤️
they had their first win today!!!
one thing i'd like to point out is how they repeated a line from intro: window ("flow with time, flow with the wind") which i absolutely LOOOOOOVE it's like the to be or not to be / dead or alive mirroring & i live for it. makes them feel even more cohesive which really adds to the immersion
PLUS!! i feel like oneus has truly found their place as the new concept kings of kpop. when i first saw the mv of luna, some of the visuals gave me the vibes of shangri-la by vixx which by all means couldnt be a bad thing at all bec that song was a cultural reset AND SO WAS THIS!!!([& just reminds me how badly i wanted oneus to get shangri-la on rtk) it hit me at that moment that it has just been That Long since i saw a title track like this in kpop - it takes the traditional crossover in the direction of elegant/sentimental instead of more hip-hop which most songs with the traditional vibe (including Lit) . i'm so glad that they pushed for this to be a title track AND WON WITH IT.
congrats oneus & congrats tomoons!!! lets stick together for more comebacks & wins to come
2021 is the year of the ascenXion! Dongju had less than a year of training so when Oneus debuted he was still very very unsure of himself. But this year we've seen him gain confidence in leaps and bounds, and it's been so rewarding to watch!
It's also been super rewarding to see this song get so much love.
this is the best reaction of luna so far, thanks
I completely agree that Luna feels like a combination / the results of all they did and tried out before. Somehow this song defines them so WELL
the fact that you mentioned kingdom is so on point tho bc i feel like ever since rtk and kingdom itself bg groups have been stepping it up incredibly like tbz, skz and now oneus giving us stages for title tracks that involve much more complex and awestriking performances
I was so happy and super excited about this comeback. MV was so beautiful. This song was just a masterpiece. Thank you so much for your reaction video.
this is the prettiest song ever it really shows how much they’ve grown i’m so proud of them and i’m so happy they got their first win today!!
Today oneus had their first win... I am so happy....
Please keep an eye on their brother band Onewe.... They are coming back on 23 nov...
