    It was certainly a gamble.....

The best deal I've ever gotten is a good husband. Fifty-eight years and counting. That's priceless and so is he. We were never campers--we fished a lot in our younger years and had a ball and loved it. It was something we could do as a family. ; -) Love to watch your videos.

Lets just take a second to appreciate Lukes hard work at 15:58 He had to setup the camera, climb that wall, climb back down, take down camera, climb wall again.
    Dedication to a craft.

He shot himself from both the top and bottom of the obstacle...so he had to set up, climb down, go back up for the cam, back down again, set up the cam, go back up and climb down yet again... alot of climbing for one quick sequence. I hope people appreciate the work filming requires.

My son is in Denver. My wife and I helped move him out there two months ago. The wildfires made the mountains hard to see, sadly. I was looking forward to seeing the Rockies from someplace that wasn't far above them. Enjoy your time there. My wife and I are planning on going out to see him in the spring. I can't wait.
Yes, Luke, you lucked out.....and I'm tickled to death for you. That tent looks like a sweet bit of kit. And the bag liner looks like it would be worth investigating. I don't like the taffeta/plastic feel of the inside of a lot of sleeping bags. Knowing about this is making me wanna get one for fall camping instead of sleeping in my clothes in the fartbag.
I now know why your videos are so well done: you're a photographer, and understand the importance of all things video/photography. And I'm really surprised your channel hasn't hit 1M subs yet. I guess some people just don't appreciate your approach to reviewing gear. I love the honesty, and your "I don't care if you buy this" statement about the product right up front. There's not enough honesty in the world, to be fair (please, can anyone give me the Letterkenny chorus harmonies on this one? LOL). You've likely saved a lot of folks money and time with your opinions.
Keep doing what you do, sir. Thank you.

I used that OR hat on a month long section hike of the Appalachian Trail from Amicalola Falls State Park to Hot Springs, NC, and grew quite attached to it. The ventilation was very good while protecting the hairless top of my head from the sun. Mine was orange because I often hike during hunting season.

While stationed in KeyWest, Navy Avionics Tech with VAQ-33 several of us went to a DRMO auction in Marathon Key. My friend bid on an entry for cigarettes. When we went to collect it turned out to be a 43 foot cigarette speed boat with triple 620 motors. Wow, we did not have a vehicle to tow it. We borrowed a truck to bring it to KeyWest. It had a 800 gallon fuel tank and we all chipped in $100 for gas. It took several hours to. get it started. We idled out of Boca Chica MWR marina headed for Sand Key about 8-10 miles south of KeyWest. With 500 dollars in the tank it was just over half full. We got outside of the channel and started to accelerate toward Sand Key. All I can say is what a rush. We were flying and loving it. We tied to a roaring buoy for a couple hours of snorkeling then headed back. We used most of the gas we bought on that short trip. He decided he could not afford that boat and sold it for $30K. We got our gas money back. This was back in 1986 or 87. Great memories. I can imagine how you felt getting gold in your tent, I looks like a great tent. The tag shown was Sweden right.

I got a good deal on a mountain bike about a week ago. I stepped out of my trailer one morning and casually looked across the street and saw something leaned up against a junk car that was left in that vacant lot. I just had to wander over to see what it was. It was a vintage GT Timberline mountain bike. The chain looked like a piece of 1/4 in rebar. I walked it over here and started to work. New shift and brake cables and some WD40 on the chain and cassette later, and I got a bike worth at least 1K. It rides good. The material I put into it cost me about $40. I know the feeling of coming onto a good deal.

My best deal for camping was a Griswold cast iron skillet (they asked $130 and we bargained them down to $68) my wife and I found at an antique shop. Markings on the skillet places the manufacture time in the early 1940s. It’s a thin, very smooth and WELL seasoned skillet. I don’t know how but even laying it on a bed of coals our spencer cut steaks will NOT burn! It’s perfect for that medium rare searing and we take it on every camping trip we do!

The best deal I ever had was really great. I was camping in my 5 m bell tent. I have carrots, a wood burning stove, a teal light chandelier- really glamping but the one day we went to the beach. And we zipped up our tent. And a kid went into our tent and lit our firelight which we used to light candles. He set fire to the tent and burned it down. Completely. Luckily he ran out and didn’t get killed. But a fb group did a crowdfund and relaxed evening. £600 and I’ve don’t know how much that is in dollars probably about £900. But wonderful how kind people can be.

I got that lucky one time as well. I purchased a large 12x16 tent based solely on a pic of the bag it was in. It was, dare I say, the famous Walmart brand, Ozark Trail. That part didn't really matter to me at the time as I was planning on using it once for a big family outing. Paid $50.00 for the tent that actually sold for much more. Turns out the guy I brought it from was just getting rid of a bunch of things left by his father who had passed. Like yours, the tent was brand new and never been out of the bag. Now, although it was a crap brand tent designed to look like a house, it was an amazing deal at that price. But, that's not where I lucked out on my purchase. While there, the guy asked me if I was looking for any other camping type stuff. He proceeded to show me 2 WWII military cots, an old military stove similar to a Coleman stove, a WWII military one man canvas tent amongst a ton of other things! Needless to say, I spent another 100 dollars. I bought both cots, the stove, the old tent, and basically everything else he had there of his father's that had to do with the outdoors. My wife and I still use those cots, the stove still works, I've used the military tent at least a dozen times and they are all still in great shape! That was 10 years ago this week actually! Oh, and that really large crap brand tent? It's still in great shape and gets used at least once a year. Anyway, let me add to that subscriber total because my wife and I absolutely love your channel and don't know why we haven't subscribed before. Thanks for another great video!

Oh wow. 11,000 feet. Your friend is right, you'll want a hat in your kit. Sunblock, etc. The air is thin, used to visit my folks at 6500 feet. Even then it's easy to get short of breath. Looking forward to the video!

That was an awesome buy! Even if it had been used a few times it would have been a good buy to have all the components there sight unseen, but to get an unused quality tent at that price was a steal!!!

Randomly picked up an REI Half Dome 2+ at a garage sale for 28 dollars. Had a pinhole tear. Tiny piece of gear aid on each side and it has been my go to for 5 years now. Best deal I've ever found!

I'm not going to lie, the second the music started playing in the photo section, I was instantly transported into the Fallout 76 Game that my wife is obsessed with... Rather interestingly, its set in your neck of the woods. Love your work and watching from the UK

I noticed one of your guyout lines was tied around a tree. Every guyout line I've ever set up has been staked into ground. I'm going to have to remember & rethink my guyout lines from here on out.
I'm eagerly looking forward to "Susie's Van" video.

You clearly got a good deal there! Love camping this time of year. I almost always buy at end of season, got a super nice Arc'teryx jacket for not much last year: can't afford that stuff usually, but has served really well.

Funny story. In fact, Fjällräven made two tents, the one you bought but also a tent that is very similar to it, just a little smaller. I've heard it's supposed to be some of the most windproof tents ever made. But why did Fjällräven remove them from that range after a very short time? I do not know, but congratulations on your really good deal.

Yes I bought a 2000 K 2500 four-wheel drive not sight unseen but the gentleman told me a few items that needed and it was parked for about 8 years. As of right now it's roadworthy and has insurance and tags on it that is for my cabover camper build. As far as that tent goes that looks like one incredible deal. You got lucky that time. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I hope you and Suzy have an incredible trip, can't wait to watch the videos. As far as the firewood goes no Deadfall and you have to complete logs in the video LMAO.

I purchased a twin lens reflex camera in 1992 sight unseen. I was stationed in Japan and saw a Mamiya C330F on Ebay. I paid $500 and received it and was thrilled it was like new. So relieved!

You have found a good deal for that tent. It's super hard to get hold of even in Sweden where the second hand market are big on everything from the swedish market. And the price for a new one was about 400 - 500 USD and the second hand market price are about 350 - 400 USD if you can find one. Have started to find good gadets that you review and bought some for my next camping trip. Keep inspire us to more adventures in nature.
