What about mobile instinct 1?!
@@joeschmoe5009 Same creator.
I like remote sightseeing with Chris 😊
Wouldnt mind more and longer ones 😏
Definitely more coming!
@@MobileInstinct2 But I hope not longer.
Love your enthusiasm for New Jersey, Chris. You make me homesick, till I remember the astronomical property tax bills...
Right 🤣 expensive, crowded, and crazy laws. We moved from NJ to the south a few years ago and loving it.
Thank you, Chris! ❤
Under the Bridge. Great song.
Thanks Chris. A LOT of people never get to see this stuff OUR country has for a number of reasons. “Thanks for taking us along!”
I drove the GW bridge many times in the 80s. I had no idea it was so scenic underneath.
Appreciate ya. I’ve crossed that bridge numerous times and always wanted to explore the local history.
"Let's see more Montana Moorehead." Maria Randosi, Ft. Lee, New Jersey. Fort Lee. That's the heartland.
Really enjoyable episode. Outdoors exploring on a georgous day. Thanks Chris
Watching from London 🇬🇧, Thanks Chris for taking me sightseeing
Listening to the Canada goose honk at 13:10, as I sit here watching from Canada as a Canada goose honks outside my window...
If you've ever seen Cop Land this is where they filmed a couple of scenes below the bridge.
I was thinking the same thing!
Yep that's exactly what I was going to say. The setting for "Garrison NJ". Fantastic movie.
Thanks for showing me this place. Yes, I liked it a lot.
This channel has taken me on so many adventures. It should be a television series or a video series by locale. Just amazing.
Stayin tuned!
🤠👍
That little scooter kicks butt! Makes your shots quicker and more eventful
Gosh, I haven’t seen that bridge in years! I’ve been over that bridge at least a hundred times. Thank you!
Chris: Did you happen to catch that? Had to do a double-take on THIS end LOL! Your very first words to start the video: "Look how amazing this is..."
Watching the traffic, it's at that EXACT same time when you were saying that was when a semi-truck was going over the bridge and on the side of the trailer in huge lettering was the word "AMAZING".
I gotta see that again. That was cool! Hehe!
YESS that was, MIKE'S AMAZING cool you cought that
@@MichaelSmith-jv7zm Much too funny! LOL!
I dont miss driving over that bridge.Getting stopped in traffic 200ft above the Hudson and feeling it sway up and down 6"at a time screw that!! lol :)
Old Sully soared right over that bridge with that dead plane remember that?
Its hard to believe how beautiful it is right across from that poop hole city.
Been across that bridge many times always the upper level in the semi never been underneath it nor did I know about the lighthouse thanks for taking us with you
At 0:12 you say "amazing" and then a truck goes by that says AMAZING on the side. It made me giggle. I scrolled a bit and didn't see anyone else had pointed it out yet.
Love your channel!
What you say about the anchorage is true. My grandfather worked on the NJ side. They drilled and blasted down into the palisades. I think I remember him saying about 700 feet. Also like you say the NY side is anchored into a massive monolithic pour of concrete at about 180th street in Manhattan. Being held in place only by its sheer massive weight. I was raised in that area and always liked visiting palisades interstate park and would access the park from the road going down the cliff from the top of the palisades ave hill in Englewood at the palisades interstate parkway.
Thank-you Chris for sharing beautiful views of that bridge! Take care and be safe out there!!!!!!
At 0:12 as you're saying look how amazing this is there's a truck going past that says Amazing on the side!
Wow very wonderful..
The bridge was really interesting to see.
I live in N.J 15 minutes away from the G.W. Bridge. Her in New Jersey we call it The "G.W." I have been in the park under it where BIG was filmed TWICE in my life. ONLY twice !.....I am 69 yrs. old
Wow,so awesome 🌉
Enjoyed your video
I love your videos. I'm from the UK so know nothing of American history. Your videos are so relaxing, interesting and I'm always learning something new from you. Thank you.
Been over it many times - always was curious @ an up-close, slow look at it. Thank you!
My neck of the woods and I never even knew that existed thanks for the video. At least I get to know what’s around me
That’s how I feel. Fifty years of driving back & forth & never knew about the little light house. Just found out the Tappan Zee has one too.
this is so amazing to see... One more reason why I always check in to your channel, you bring things to life that we never even think about..and the history oh how I LOVE history! xo
Thanks!
I've been on the George Washington bridge with my husband when he drove truck otr. Its scary from a semi being up so high
Fascinating!
8:02 Cement is one ingredient of CONCRETE. It is a gray ground powder and nothing is ever built with it alone. It is added to sand, aggregate, water and usually several additives to become CONCRETE.
That bridge looks awesome. The ruins are pretty cool
That is an amazing bridge and the ruins of the beachhouse was cool, too! Good video!!
VERY COOL.THANK YOU
Thank you for the up close look at an important landmark and its history. Wonder why that bathhouse was abandoned.
The area he was used as a Campground before construction of the bridge. When the bridge was built the Campground area was used to house the bridge workers. I think it opened up again once the bridge was built, but the water quality was very bad and no one wanted to swim in the Hudson. But the water quality is improving so maybe one day they will truck in some sand and allow folks to swim again like they did one hundred years ago.
Your vidio's are top Shelf. Thank You.... Never knew all that was down there with the GW Bridge... You get right in there.
Hey Chris! Wonderful video!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I spent my early childhood in Teaneck, NJ and my Dad, being in the professional theatre, always took the bridge into the city for shows, rehearsals, etc. And as a kid, I had a copy of the book THE LITTLE RED LIGHTHOUSE. I remember trying to look down and see the lighthouse whenever we'd go across the bridge. Gosh, it's so tiny, isn't it? Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia and for sharing your work and art with us. All the very best!
From where youre standing it doesnt even look like a double deck bridge until u look close at the 2nd railing... been over that bridge many times and its always a hectic enduro type race with no space left unfilled where the rule of rubbing is racing seems to happen there too
The lower level wasn’t opened till ‘62.
I ride my bike a lot on the NY side. There's a dedicated bike trail that starts in Battery Park in Lower Manhattan and runs all the way past and under the GW Bridge, ending up in Spuyten Duyvil at the northern tip of Manhattan. You can spend a whole day just doing that entire coastline.
I've seen parts of that bike trail. I actually tried to park to see that light house but couldn't find any spots haha
@@MobileInstinct2 Yeah, the bike trail is right by the old red lighthouse. Better to probably take the train from Secaucus into the city, rent a Citibike and head up to the lighthouse. Safest bet, I think.
We always looked for the rock with the Big C when crossing the Henry Hudson. Very cool
You can ride over the bridge on the walkway to the Hudson River bikeway and ride to the Battery or to the Cloisters. I used to make the ride on weekends all the time.
Thank you for this video !! ❤❤
Some people took this area for granite and nature reclaimed it.
Amazing Bridge / Video Beautiful Place
what an amazing place!
Definitely a cool spot
@@MobileInstinct2 agreed
Great story ttelling as usual. Thanks! Really enjoyed this one.
Man I absolutely love your videos! You have a great style! Keep up the good work! -Justin
Fantastic another superb video, I drove across that bridge and the Verrazzano in 1974. Thanks for your videos.👍🏼
@7:10 that road is in the movie Copland in many scenes
I lived in Southern NJ for my first almost 30 years and been to NYC often yet these videos from you this week were eye opening to the landscape of this area.
There is a completely bizarre old place called The Kearney House down by the water right in the park. Not sure if it reopened after COVID. It was an olde ghostly tavern and a home from 1760. Worth looking up if you are down there. There are some very olde pictures online as well.
Another great vid.tks.ive been to the same spots in the mid 70s.The mob was highly visible back then.Ive watched all your vids and some multiple times. Tks again
Yeah I may have to do some mob related videos. Thanks!
Very cool to see this area. Thank you.
Very interesting, thanks
💖 Very interesting!
In today’s world I’m surprised they let anybody even get close to the base of that bridge
That was my first thought ....
Zoltar!! So rad!
I always crave your content. Always so calming and just easy to watch. Thanks again bud!
Stephen King’s Dark Tower readers know of a secret bridge Mobile didn’t see.
No Shit, I just bought myself an electric scooter and it almost looks like the same one. And I already planned to use it for filming, it's for getting to work basically, but I really like the footage you shot while riding it. Also great vlog as always. I'm glad to know the scooter will be my dolly..
Great video
Beautiful place & must have been something back in the 20s ! Bath house ruins ?
Wow! a double decker bridge, never heard or seen one of those, very, very interesting. Man! what a monster of a bridge, and beautiful. I'll bet with the way it is constructed, it could hold up the whole city of New York, incredible, just incredible, with an incredible story that was well presented, I'll also keep a lookout for that video you're talking about, thank you Chris for sharing this cool tour!!! Oh, by the way Chris... What's the top speed of that scooter that you're riding on big guy? signed, Greg the Egg.
Great video.
Love the history too.
"Cliff Hanger" was coined on the cliffs of the Palisades.
I definitely need to revisit this amazing place. I was a young kid when I was there last. Thank you so much Chris 💙🙏🏻You never fail to bring such relevant and awesome content🌟🙏🏻
The cliffs of the Hudson River go far north past Albany (the NY capital)… lived off of GSP exits 168-172 (Westwood/Montvale NJ), as well as in the NY border towns of Nanuet, Nyack, South Nyack and Piermont…. The drive south is n the palisades parkway, at night, as you come over the darken hillsides and are suddenly presented with the GW bridge and all of urban NYC and NJ (fort Lee,etc) lit up like the Las Vegas strip, is an awe inspiring initial view of the big Apple
I’m thinking the first part of the ruins, maybe what’s left of Cliffdale Manor and baths
From the top of the Jersey tower, you can see Long Island.
Sir, I like watching every video of you, my country is Bangladesh❤
What camera do you use for both of your channels? Huge fan by the way, I love your content. Keep up the great work🤝
Looks like that area after dark would be sketchy after dark. Anyone from that area know??
I cant speak for that spot in particular but I grew up in the area, the nearby Rockefeller and alpine lookouts on the palisades parkway not too far north from there do get sketchy at night fs. I wouldn’t be too surprised if that was the case here, though it’s not as secluded as the parkway lookouts
I believe the park is formally closed at sunset. The area is patrolled by the Palidades Interstate Parkway Police. There is a nice historical museum on site.
Yeah I would imagine it's closed at night.
Fascinating stuff. Excellent work. Love this. Thank you so much.
Every time I see that bridge I always think of the intro cutscene from Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons Of Liberty
👍✌
supposed to be a engineering marvel
New Subscriber; Been binge watching your videos. VERY GOOD WORK!!! You need you own television program. Keep up the Good Work❤️
It's concrete. Cement is but one ingredient in concrete.
I always have the same reaction when an Osprey flies above here in UK. Awesome machines. Thanks for another educational video about your side of the pond.
Not as famous as the old Queensboro bridge and it's inhabitants, but well presented.
Some of the scenes of Cop Land took place in that area.
No surprise TRAFFIC
Do they allow metal detecting there?
I hope the kraken does not catch you 🎉
What is bridge made from? Looks heavy!
My guess is toothpicks. But for real its made of steel
According to Wikipedia, "The bridge's construction required 113,000 short tons (101,000 long tons; 103,000 t) of fabricated steel; 28,000 short tons (25,000 long tons; 25,000 t) of wire, stretching 106,000 miles (171,000 km); and 20,000 short tons (18,000 long tons; 18,000 t) of masonry." Wow 😅
Love this , something I would love to see and walk on George Washington bridge all the noise from above this one was an awesome one , enjoy watching your channel Thanks for sharing
I definitely want to walk across it and check out the little light house. Hopefully in the near future.
@@MobileInstinct2 sounds awesome
It's unbelievable that George Washington built this bridge. 🇺🇸🇺🇦❤🤍💙💛
Martha Washington built the lower level.
His dog sweet lips fell from the bridge true google it....
