Kalahari Water Park and Room Review, Round Rock Texas

- Kalahari Round Rock Water Park was a fun escape from the Texas cold!
This is the largest indoor waterpark in America, all 223,000 square feet of it.
So lets break down the water park.
You have a giant rectangle of a room with different rides and slides split up into different sections as you can see on this map.
There are waterslides and attractions all along the edges of the room with the seating, chairs and Zulu grill in the middle of the room. We were there on a pretty quiet friday and it was pretty easy to find some chairs.
So its somewhat organized by age group, with the little kid stuff off to the left, so if you have kids, I’d say 6 or so and under, I would head to the left as soon as you walk in. Over there you’re going to find the splashdown safari which has some fun sized slides, my 6 year old daughter and 7 year old niece really liked that area. One thing to not is they actually have a height restriction on some of their slides, as its ONLY for the smaller kids. This made it a little awkward for us as some of my other nieces were too tall and we had to split up. I can see why they do it, but its something that definitely has its pros and cons.
Past that you’ll find coral cove which is a really cool area for the smaller toddlers. We didn’t have any with us that small, but its definitely a great area for the littler kids.
Now onto the fun rides. There are TWO main areas for slides, theres the group of slides near the lazy river with the big stingray water slide. This stingray has their biggest funnel and is a must do at least one time. When you go up the side of the funnel you definitely get a little bit of air time which is quite fun. There are a few other tube rides on that side that are fun as well and we did all of them with the few hours we were there on our first day.
They also have some single rider slides, like the zig zag zebra and the Tanzanian twister. Now I have to note, these were a lot of fun, but they are FAST! They are definitely NOT for little kids, but if you’ve got some that like fun, these definitely are. I would also make sure you pay attention to the ones that have the strong swimmer warning. I’m a pretty strong swimmer, but dropping into the pool off the Tanzanian twister was a little disorientating! So a lot of your most fun slides are going to be on that side of the park, so if you walk in and go to the right, its over on that section.
Now personally, my favorite section of waterslides is back behind the wave pool. The slides over here probably aren’t as good, but when we were there, there was no one there and we could just go up and down riding on the chetta racers as much as we wanted. Our kids also really liked the wave pool, so being over on that side made things a lot easier. This side still has some good tube rides, and they have the fastest single rider slides. I did them both, and I gotta say, it was fun but it was mostly getting a whole bunch of water splashed in your face.
The next thing to cover is the lazy river. The lazy river goes around the Lost Lagoon pool and our kids had a lot of fun there. Its relaxing to just get pushed around on the current and the kids had fun playing with each other while going around the loop. Definitely one of their favorites.
The Lost lagoon is a popular pool with a bunch of basketball hoops. We didn’t spend too much time there as the girls weren’t really interested, but I could see it being fun.
The other area is the grotto area which I didn’t really see much of. I did the water slide that was over there which was cool, but we were busy watching the kids, so we never got to go to the “adults only” area.
The other thing that we didn’t do was the Flowrider, but it looked like a popular attraction.
And the one other thing to note that we almost missed was the hot tub! The indoor/outdoor hot tub is over by the little kids section, near coral cove, and it goes outside. On this cold Texas day, it was amazing to be able to sit in the hot tub outside, this was definitely one of the highlights for me.
Thanks for the tour I’m going on the 8th or 9th
Thank you for the review. I live in Houston and was thinking about checking this place out. Very informative and i love how you showcase the water park , arcade , food, & rooms. Thanks again
Great and thorough review. Loved hearing him say “it’s a racket”. lol
I really appreciate this HONEST review. Thank you!
Your explanation of an Arcade is spot on! Love this video
This place is awesome ! My 4 yr old loved it!
By far the best review on this property! Very practical!!! Full of helpful tips. I have 2 girls who are 6 and 7 as well and we are planning our first trip for next month! Thanks for this video!!

Very informative vlog! Outstanding, Tim! I know now what to expect at my upcoming first visit to Kalahari. Thank you very much!
Me and my family are going to Kalahari and this video got me so ready to go!! I'm so excited!!! Thank you :)
Thanks for the review! Great information!
Thank you! This was so helpful! I'm working on planning our trip now and this covered everything I needed to know!!
Excellent quality video!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this review. I’ve been wanting to go for a while. Going in 2 weeks and this gave some great info to help me feel more prepared.
We just got back from our visit at Kalahari! We absolutely loved the water park and the arcade. We did the ropes and it was so much fun!
What we did not like was the food and my goodness… THE PRICES. We had pizza one night and like you said, very doughy! We got breakfast items from the coffee shop by the entrance and again, super pricey and not good AT ALL. We ended up eating outside the resort the rest of the trip. Overall, we had such a great time and will go back in the future…but with the mindset of eating outside of the resort! I’ll also have to blindfold my kids when passing by the ice cream shop. LOL!
Yes! That ice cream placement is definitely strategic. I need to go back!
This was a GREAT review 👏🏾 👍🏽.
Thanks for the review! It helped me so much
Have you gone yet? I’m thinking about making another trip up there
Thank you for your honest review!
Thanks for the review and info
Going here next Friday, looking forward to it. Your editing skills are amazing, this type of quality deserves a lot more love!
Thank you! I’m sure you’ll have a ton of fun. Come back and let me know if you liked it
@@TimMacy The smoke that thunders and stingray are my favorites! I also liked the Tanzanian slide, it’s that blue slide next to the zig zag zebra, it’s blue. Was it just me or the zigzag zebra kinda hurts your back? Also the slide where the floor drops underneath you is fun, at the beginning I tried to scream but all I got was water in my face. Other than that, the food was good (and expensive) I had to get out of the lazy river due to someone pooping in it 😂 You perfectly explained the game area, the claw games are just pathetically weak. And it was overpriced. Very fun experience tho! I love not having to wait in line that long.
@@deadeye9004 there were a couple of them that were a little bit of a rough ride!
im going there this saturday to experience too!
Did u have fun? We r going in August
I am at Kalahari right now! My mom got me and my brother the desert bunk bed room!! I am loving tom foolery😂❤
This is awesome 🎊
Thanks for this video this will help me know what to do even though I’ve been there
I've been 4 times in the middle of the summer. Flawless everytime. 😎
i’m going to go this summer and just looking at reviews to see all the cool things and ofc parent paid vacation 😎
Ive been there 6 times 😎 also flawless everytime
Great video😊 very informational and well put together.
Thank you! Working on putting out more videos like this one.
I'm ok with over spending a little bit, I just hate waiting in lines which has been my experience with Schlitterbahn and Disney. As a kid I loved Schlitterbahn , but last summer I took my kids for the first time and the lines were horrible on the Monday and Tuesday we went and both days the park closed early due to lightning and rain. I will give this place a try, thanks for the review!
Definitely same boat here. When we went, lines were minimal, but I could see them being longer during busier times.
to be honest the lines rlly weren’t all the bad when i went but i do recommend going on a weekday as there is obviously much less people meaning you won’t be waiting in line to long.. i would say the longest i had to wait in like was probably 10 minutes and i went one a thursday
@@anabellemunoz513 I was wondering since you went on a weekday were any of the slides closed since there were less people there?
Good looking 👀 family!
You mentioned missing the ropes course… have you tried the one at Natural Bridge Caverns? It’s outdoors, so I recommend arriving early, buying cave tour tickets for a start time a little later, and then go do the ropes while you wait for the tour. It’s fun and engaging for lots of ages plus it supports a local business that’s been around for decades. 😉👍
We did! We actually live right near natural bridge caverns and have been there a few times. I need to make a video about it! We love the caves
Ive been here before snd im going again on sunday its so fun
The water is chill or warm ? I’m looking to go for new year Eve
I’m going this March!😊
great video review!
I went in December for Christmas it was so fun!!! I injoyed it so much
Was it expwmsive
Glad you mentioned that you went in the winter. That's when we plan on going. Was it pretty crowded during the holiday season.?
@@Ashley-id2cb yes it was a little crowded but it wasn’t to bad! The lines weren’t that long either!
Water temperature? Please let me know I’m here now and it’s 50 and my kiddo has been having colds off and on ….kids

I am going on friday and I decided I wanted to see some other famliy's expieriences at Kalahari! Looks like A LOT of fun!
Just left this place. A must go with the kids and family. “ it is expensive !” !!!
I was here for 3 and 1/2 days and I’ll will tell you. IT WAS FIRE
In a good way?
i’m going there tomorrow lol! i already went there though lol! amazing video
Such a great review!! Thank you! #subscribed
I’ve been to Kalahari it’s so fun
I love this place
Fun Fun Fun 🤩
I love the review. The only thing I felt missing was that you should have highlighted some more of the water slides. There are multiple other big ones like a tornado funnel slide and a bowl slide that you didn’t mention. Also I like how great wolf lodge does their room keys. It’s on the wristband but only the adult wristbands. The kid wristbands are a different color and don’t have it
I was able to use this review to show my autistic kids what to expect. From the bottom of my heart thank you.
Thank you Thank you Thank you
Best review on this location.
I liked it, I followed it, and I subscribed to you in hopes that you may have other places we want to visit that you have reviewed.
This is the best feedback i've ever gotten on a video! Very much appreciated!
Where should I review next?
i’m so glad i live like 10 minutes from this place so i don’t have to pay for a hotel i can just stay the day and hopefully they will add more slides
That is a very nice perk! How often do you go?
Same, I live 20 minutes away
I'm going here tm I'm exited❤❤
Why they have a full size refrigerator...is that for storing your restuarant food 😆
We need answers!
@Tim Macy I’ve been there
Everything is bigger in Texas
@@ykbrody234 yep
Now I have a question when going to the hotel room, are you allowed to take outside food, for exam chick fil- a?
I saw that they sell passes for the arcade, do you have to buy the pass and still purchase credits? Thanks
From the way I understood it, you could get passes for the ropes course and some of the rides, but you still have to buy credits for the games.
My parents took me there to Kalahari And it was a blast
Are there height requirements for the bigger slides? I want to take my 5 & 6 year old
that cri-cut printer tho 😂 “8:39”
Ikkkrrrr
Me and my family are going to be there soon
We just got back and barely spent any time in the water because it was freezing... Was it warmer in the winter?
Did you go to this location?
If i had to guess, your favorite word is OK? Everything is just OK to you? I thought most of the activities there looked great! And our room was good too, it had a cool bunk bed room! I didn't get to do the arcade when i was there for reasons, but you mentioned that most of the games are ticket based, those are the only games i play at an arcade! However i must agree that the food WAS only ok, we ate at the Blux grill thing in the arcade, i got some sort of cheese fries with bacon and chicken, and it was HEAVY! The cheese was like queso cheese and it wasnt easy to eat, i barely ate any of it. It didnt help that i ate that on the day we got there in the evening, because it did a pounding on my stomach for the rest of the stay, and it prevented me from doing most of everything. I only got to do the lazy river, and 2 slides, thats it. So will i go back? Yes, because i didn't really do anything there! Dont get the cheese fries!!!
Thanks for the informative video, I have a question, did you have Tom foolery with your stay ? I am confused, you have to pay the tickets to get access and also pay to get to ride and play bowling, Ice balls and stuff?
From what I understand, you can pre-pay some of the "rides" and other attractions, but its an open arcade type thing, so you'll have access to it whether you pre pay or not, they just have some packages where you can pre-pay for some of the things at a discount.
What r ice balls?
i love the indoor waterpark
I went to Kalahari in the Pocono's in Pennsylvania when they first opened. The rooms were brand new and very clean. And that's was the best thing about the entire stay. The waterpark wasn't anywhere near a comfortable temperature. We were all shivering. The layout of the waterpark area is poor planned and the space poorly utilized. Whereas, in Great Wolf Lodge there are seats in the open center and you can pretty much look around and keep on eye on your family because the slides and rides are around the center, that was not all possible in Kalarhari. Getting from the end of one slide/ride to the entrance of another often meant a very long walk around the large arena.
Also, despite the fact that there is more than ample room to place the slides, ALL of them have very tight turns. Some of them just spiral down. If that isn't bad enough, the slides are not one solid color. Like the ones in the video, the panels of each slide change color and/or pattern. So as you are whizzing through the tight turns, various colors are flashing by. Myself and my various family members were nauseated. We have been to countless waterparks, both indoor and outdoor. This was a new, and very unpleasant, experience for us.
But wait! I'm not done! As the sun went down, they start playing very loud music and the lights in the dome start flashing. (We wanted a waterpark, not a disco. It did nothing to enhance the experience. ) After a few minutes of that, my kids said they are done and want to go back to room. Again, that's a new one for me. I don't ever recall my kids volunteering to leave a waterpark. So, as mentioned in the video, the exit is through the arcade, with more flashing lights and loud sounds.
Its better now. Its about 80° or more now. No shivering
The flashing lights sound cool. I think my kids would love that!
whats with all the clips in reverse?
Is the park ticket included with the room? Or we have to purchase them separate?
It’s included
Am going to go there
It's so fun
Does anyone know if it is crowded during the Christmas holiday season?
here on december 29 and there are many people but it’s not uncomfortably crowded :)
One the slide right beside the sitingray me and my cousins decid to call it treyvon after a worker that was really nice also same thing with the stingray but the empolee’s nickname was poker
I just went in July it was very fun but the purple one that drops you hurt
Some of them are pretty crazy!
I have a question for those that have already done the indoor water park. Does the indoor pool area/waterpark area smell strongly of chlorine?
I just got back from there yesterday… no strong chlorine smell.
I just got back from there yesterday… no strong chlorine smell.
Been to the great wold lodge last two years, is this better or worse?
I’ve been to the great wolf lodge in the Fort Worth area and I’ve been to kalahari twice. ( live closer to round rock) I enjoy kalahari more. I feel like you get more from a water park. I felt that great wolf lodge was a bit of a let down. Great for smaller children ( 8 and under). But felt like a dud to me. I don’t think there is a comparison between the 2. I feel like kalahari blows wolf lodge out of the water. But kalahari seems overpriced to me. But can be worth it if you find deals on Groupon .
Going in September so I have been here before I would recommend if your going with family like kids under 8 or 9 then get a cabana because yeah and the arcade I would go 7:50
Dude I’m telling you, you gotta go try double cuts steak house hands down best place there
We’ll probably be back and I will definitely check it out!
Make sure you return your beach towels and not your kids they will try to charge you. Our locker was next to the towel line so I know he turned the towels in because I was by the locker the employees were rude after the 3rd supervisor I said again play the security footage and by then they realized my son did turn the towels in. (Remember $25 a towel 5 that's $125 dollars they wanted) What I happened the bracelet didn't scan and the employee didn't catch it and how they were looking at it is the computer said it did get turned in your fault
I went there last summer
Are the waterpark tickets included in the room price?
Yes! Water park is included with hotel, just need a budget for food and arcade, ect.
@@TimMacy with any hotel room purchase or certain packages?
am about to go to kalahari in a weeek or two
There is these huge milkshakes there and they are soo good
I’ve been to kalahari 4 months once it was open and it wasn’t popular at all and now look at it
Great video! For the price, I'm going to pass. You saved us mucho!!!
You did an awesome thorough review. I am a lot more knowledgeable of what I’m about to get into. Avoid arcades lol

I'm going to Kalahari on March 2
I never wanna leave
I want to yesterday and my father and there's two little sections and I I like it at the little kids station
Is the water cold?
The water felt great! I also love the indoor outdoor spa
hi I going there in 2 days I am so happy my mommy is so not boring I am so happy
I already went there
Do they have an outdoor pool area?
They have an outdoor pool are that looked pretty cool, but it was closed when we were there in the winter.
Yes. There are two outdoor pool areas. One is a lot bigger with more slides and attractions. The other is smaller, more relaxing with a swim up bar. Very relaxing.
I’m going soon🎉
Is there things I must know or must not do?
Not really it’s big there and amazing always stuff to do, the only thing is if ur sensitive to noise the waterpark and adventure park can be loud at first but it’s super loud.
We usually go across the street to Salt Lick for some good bbq.
There is another Kalahari in Pennsylvania
I’m going there on Friday
Same might see you there
Looks like a nice place for the family, I thinks it’s a hard pass. Most people will not be able to afford such a luxury stay. It’s nice y’all can afford it. I will stick to the old fashion state park cabins and such. lol. Thanks for the info. And review.
Its not eexp3nsive
Because of the the that website on the baby section is so slow but if you weigh down
My dad said we're going this summer
Good review. The only thing and most important thing you didn’t answer is….what was the temperature like in the water Park?
The temperature in the water park feels like summer. It’s warm and hot kind of, Humid. Kind of like a sauna feel? But comfortable. I went when they first opened and 6months after it opened. When they first opened during covid was nice because it was only opened to half capacity. And the guy in the video mentioned the kids park was not open to adults. When I went during covid I was allowed to go on the slides with my nephew who was 7. And then 6 months later that changed.
@@AmbersTurd thanks
@@AmbersTurd how will I take my 3 year old on the slides?
Never been to any locations despite being from Wisconsin

i agree completely with this review , the cave of mirrors def not worth it
I was there today
OMG MY BDAY IS ON FRIDAY
Are you going to Kalahari?
I've been there it's in around rock Texas
It has a big 9 foot drop slide
The big big question is “ is it worth the money 💰 for what you get? Or do you recommend going to another water park in that area and get the most out your money?
That’s a great question. I think it depends on how much you spend. The rooms are very reasonable compared to when we go to Disney World, and I think if you don’t overspend at the arcade and restaurants, it can be a great deal.
The price per person for hotel and water park wasn’t bad at all, we just spent too much in the arcade.
