wow im quite impress that she accepted to go on a local show, not kowing what kind of question they were gonna ask. that kind of prove that shes a great down to earth person. love her :)
Just goes to show how different the culture is in English Canada vs. French Canada. Love the way this interview is done on this show... and most people I know have never heard of La Roux, which is sad. The music is great. Even if you don't like the music, you have to respect Elly Jackson quite a bit (well, I do anyway) for not being afraid to be honest about everything, even other Pop stars. Nicely done.
No, she was interviewed before LaRoux. She is a well known artist in Quebec. The other guy with the beard is a comedian and was also interviewed before LaRoux. That's the format of the show.
"id rather go to a toilet", my love for this lady is unreal, her style, music, fashion and way off being just every thing about her is just perfect and incredible! And i too wish i could see what the french ppl where saying to her :P oh well :)
sorry im 11 years late 🤣 but i can tell you it was so funny, the french ppl are "big" comedians in quebec, i literally died laughing 🤣 if ever you want the translation i can do it for you , its too funny 😁
One of the most awesome interviews with Elly so FAR! She is so inteligent, lovely, funny and honest. I feel sorry for her, because she was bullied in the school because of her weight. I think nobody should be bullied because of their weight, colour of skin, sexual orientation or religion. We are human beings.
J'adore Elly Jackson encore plus apres avoir vu cette entrevue ! La chanteuse est absolument charmante et sa musique et paroles sot tellement unique et profonde !
She's such an incredible lady. Alot of people think she's ugly.....but COME ON! Looking at this video can you honestly say that? She's utterly beautiful, both looks wise and her personality! I would consider myself the luckiest person in the world, if I was ever fortunate enough to meet her! Hopefully I'm still in with a chance :P Elly you're amazing, and I will always admire you
it's an french canadian show, of course they speak french, but alot of french canadian are bilingual so... we can understand and talk... the french subtitles is for a small amount of peoples who's only understand french... she dont know french but someone translate very quick with a plug on her ear.
I bought the album, of course I did. Actually I chatted with the guy at HMV (Canadian) about La Roux and he had no idea who she/they is/are and it was great to help spread the word and support Elly & Ben at the same time.
Lol I love Ellie, she's really natural and doesn't mind telling stuff about her past, and still keep it entertaining ^^ Btw about music downloads... A lot of people really love music, but it costs quite a lot of money if you want a decent collection. I buy CD's from the artists I really love, to support them, like La Roux, but others who are 1 hit wonders aren't even worth a dollar/euro
I obviously noticed about it.Thanks for the extra information I already knew.I do speak French too, despite I'm not Canadian.I found it interesting, and wanted to highlight it :D As I sai, thanks, anyway :)
Because of La Roux's comment at the end of the interview, I'm actually going to BUY her cd instead of finding it for free wherever. As an artist- I can relate to the wish I had more money angle...
in the past i have always choosen to give my music away freely through CC / e-safe creative liscences. I'm kind of tired of it, actually, having put out 6 releases since 2006. But I think times are changing, and when i'll go through with a next album/Ep, it'll be for sale online or through self-release DIY disc. probably. or an indie label form around here.
@Chauncita she's got an ear piece, if you look very carefully on her right side, you can see it. It's got sort of a skin coloured wire too, but it's a coiled wire
GAL 4:47 I cite you: "I used to have long hair. Everyone thought I looked like Johnny Mitchell. Then I had enough, cut it up the ears and started to experiment with it and end up looking like Rick Astley". Besides, in your 'I'm not your toy' clip you look pretty much like Rick. Manon? GAL 5:54 We can now say you've been rickroll'd. GAL 6:29 What's most touching, though, is to know your father knows Rick Astley. GAL 6:35 He links both generations together, that's good.
Here are the translations: Animator Guy A. Lepage 00:30 So La Roux is British, she speaks English but I speak French so the interview will be in Austro-Hungarian. GAL 00:38 Welcome La Roux in TLMEP. (Thank you very much.) Your first album is one of Great-Britain's best-selling albums with over 600,000 copies sold of your 'Bulletproof' son, which went on top of English sales an palmareses. We'll be watching a clip of you, La Roux. Manon?
@videoleo2010 no, actually, Elly has an ear piece which has someone translating for her, and most Quebecers can understand English, as you can see from the guy with the beard to her right. A nice little indicator of this is that you can see the guy speaking, and they are moving in sync with the French >.>
its so true people dont even buy music anymore and its really hard for newcomers to make a name for themselves when there not being recognized because of todays resources ( the pirate bay, megaupload, limewire) if here new album comes out the reason would be cuz i bought it
she's awesome, and i'm totally with her on the illegal downloading thing because it's destroying the music industry. Being an artist myself i can say it is extremely frustrating and aggravating to know that something you've worked really really hard on and spent a lot of time, effort and money creating is just given away for free. it makes music worthless and cheapens its' integrity.
It is only right and fair that people be compensated for their efforts, from street sweepers to pop stars. I did buy La Roux's cd, but only after becoming aware of her work through the internet. (Thanks RUclips) Small or large scale artistic piracy is wrong
Yes they are, 2 of them are from Marseille, and the other is from Lyon. They are actually planning on transferring schools, so that they can live here for a bit more
What did the guy say before Elly was like OMG! I'm glad I chose to learn French this year lol. Even though I can only understand a little :( I love Elly
sorry im 11 years late but here is was he said : " you were often called a "dyke" and as a teen you were overweight and you were the target of your classmates meanness , how did you manage to develop a thick skin ? " these guys are so funny when they do interviews, they actually are comedians from quebec 😁
this is the coolest interview i've seen in years. Why can't American TV personalities sip wine while they ask these kinds of questions? Well...that would be cool...but they'd probably start ranting things like..."ARE YOU A LESBIAN???" I guess that's why. But either way...this show in Canada is super cool!
please put english translations in! her answers are very funny but i dunno about every1 else but it would be a bit better if you could know the things their saying to her! :)) x
No that's not the way it worked...Im from Quebec. The host really ask the question in french and someone translate what he says into her ears.If you look closer you can see it!Bye the way the host understand all that she says and he can speak it but it's like a way to promote the french (a language dying slowly)He stand up for his value.
0:04 : She could have stayed, it would have been shorter! 0:29 : So LaRoux is British, she speaks English and me, I speak English, so, the interview will be in Austro-Hungarian. 0:38 : Welcome LaRoux at Tout le monde en parle. 0:42 : Your first album was ranked with the bests sellers in United Kingdom with over 600 000 copies of the song Bulletproof who rose to the top of the charts and sales... Don't want to translate the rest, sorry...
@mariechose at least we dub most of the movies out there. Along side Mexico here in Latin America ;) some say that our spanish is quite nicer than spaniard spanish :) greets.
GAL 1:19 With your electro-pop songs you put the 80s back into today's tastes. You say the music in the 80s was really free and experimental, but that now it's not honest anymore. In what the music of 2010 has become dishonest? GAL 2:09 No, never? Jester Dany Turcotte 2:15 I'm fascinated by your hair. Is it Quebec winter that made it that way?
@savysky2 For all the guests at Tout le Monde en Parle who doesn't speak french, there is a translator who translates the questions or speech of everybody speaking french directly to her by earphone.
DT 6:37 His father's younger than you are, I think. Antoine Bertrand 6:41 And your father, like Rick Astley, is "never gonna give you up" GAL 6:49 Elly, you were born on 12 March 1988 and raised in London. As a kid, you used to mostly wear sport tracksuits and dreamed to be a boy. You also say people called you a lesbian. As a teen, you were overwight and targeted by your classmates' insults. (Oh my god!) How did you make yourself such a carapace?
GAL 11:18 Elly, you've denounced the stealing of your music. You say people wrongly believe you've become rich all at once considering the success you've met. Apparently, you still live at your parents' house. Is it a choice or is it to balance the budget? GAL 13:05 La Roux, it's been a pleasure to receive you.
I've downloaded free music before, but it was really old stuff like the Beatles and The Flaming Lips' 11-year-old album. I agree that it hurts musicians starting out when people download their stuff for free, because then they don't see any of the money they would have gotten. I have no problem with someone downloading a song by someone who's off spending 1/2 a million on rings and shit, 'cause they obviously are doing fine, but when someone's just starting out, it's just not fair to them.
@TrueColors33 Well what if I was just mentioning an option...calm down it's not like no one considered it but there are other options too and I was just mentioning the most common one since I remembered her mentioning in a few interviews she doesn't speak any french and understands only basics like bonjour...
wow im quite impress that she accepted to go on a local show, not kowing what kind of question they were gonna ask.
that kind of prove that shes a great down to earth person.
love her :)
I LOOOOVE how she's not afraid to joke around with people! She seems like a very very likable person!!!!
Elly Jackson is not only an amazing musician, but also very elegant, smart and down to earth woman with class.
Just goes to show how different the culture is in English Canada vs. French Canada. Wish I could understand more of this. Love you Elly!
:D I love her, she's so normal and down to earth
Great interview. I love her reasons for being honest. I'd rather follow an artist like Elly than one catering to people while losing themselves.
it's an french canadian show, of course they speak french, but alot of french canadian are bilingual so... we can understand and talk... the french subtitles is for a small amount of peoples who's only understand french... she dont know french but someone translate very quick with a plug on her ear.
she has a great sense of humor
glad i can speak french
La Roux est hors de ce monde fantastique!!!
luv their music x

she reminds me of TinTin :D
guys it's really not complicated... she's got an earpiece with a translator speaking to her through it...
quite weird. They all are speaking in French, and she's doing it in English. What a mix!!
Adorable human being
I obviously noticed about it.Thanks for the extra information I already knew.I do speak French too, despite I'm not Canadian.I found it interesting, and wanted to highlight it :D As I sai, thanks, anyway :)
I love the cc when the guy said I'm not your toy it said argentina and for bulletproof it said Somalia proof.
I love this girl!!
the hair like the flame of a candle.........soooooo cute!!!!
elly has french heritage so she understands the language ☺
well not me :(
me neither xD
shes so pretty :D
I Love Elly! and La Roux kicks asss
Because of La Roux's comment at the end of the interview, I'm actually going to BUY her cd instead of finding it for free wherever.

Thanks so much for uploading this! Elly is a cutie when she's not playing the butch.
i think i am in love!

i love her hair ❤️😁
Yes she does. It's clear, and wireless, but it's definitely there. can be seen at 1:43
I love it how the panel all have a glass of red wine also...
Elly ! You are great !

english subtitles! please..
@SuuzieQ I don't think so. This show is over-produced, pre-recorded and cut down from taping. She was probably fed the questions in English.
she's awesome, and i'm totally with her on the illegal downloading thing because it's destroying the music industry. @Chauncita Yea she has a ear piece in her right ear. But you don't notice it which makes the interview so interesting
i have right to post comments, because I LOVE HER! You can't preach me!
Gawd.. she is amazing..
whats the question at 6:50 to 7:15?
i loooooooooooooooooooooo
She is so cool.
LOL! You cannot imagine how much fun humorist in Quebec make of the french accent. It's ridiculous
Yes they are, 2 of them are from Marseille, and the other is from Lyon. They are actually planning on transferring schools, so that they can live here for a bit more

Is there a translation somewhere?

i didn't understand the questions but i actually was able to understand her answers to the questions :P
I love her accent and necklace.. ;D

@Amarikita Correction, the guy interviewed before is an Actor, not a Comedian. Watch it guys...If you can't translate, don't do it.
J'adore Elle Jackson! Elle est fantastique!
Laroux, do you understand french or you had subtitles?
even if she didn't have an ear piece in (which she has) she would have a translator and the program would be edited so you can't see them
