It’s unfortunate that you happened to visit the park at such an awkward time. The whole park is in the midst of a major multi-year restructuring process, which includes retheming certain areas and replacing dated restaurants, attractions, and models. The process is similar in concept to the redesign of Disney California Adventure. The dinosaur area is an example of how they’re working to rectify criticisms of mismatched theming. The area used to be a mix of dinosaurs, fairy tales, and safari, and the rides were all over the place in terms of capacity. The changes have solved most of those problems. The construction in Fun Town is for their upcoming Space themed flat ride and dark coaster, which will take the place of the driving schools. The cars are being relocated to the site of the police and fire academy. LEGOLAND California is usually an excellent park, but due to the updates these last few years have been very chaotic.
@@ThemeParkWorldwide agreed! It’s a shame that the process has been so poorly managed. Believe it or not, what you experienced is a big improvement over most of Merlin’s tenure.
Great video Shawn and Charlotte from LEGOLAND California for our first-ever visit! keep the good videos coming on the channel, Shawn and Charlotte. 😃😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Im getting the feeling as honest as you both are you wasnt loveing this park as much as the other ones and so many things closed and miss matches and footage and vlog thanks tpw gang big ups
Fantastic vlog, Shawn and Charlotte! 😃😃😃😍😍👌🏻💯👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 It’s always nice to check out a LEGOLAND park around the world, especially how the park is laid out differently and what their version of Miniland has in store. You know, the two of you picked an interesting time to visit the California park, since they’re in the middle of a major multi-year restructuring process, similar to DCA. Even though this park isn’t one of the better LEGOLAND parks, it’s starting to become a little better with the opening of the new Dinosaur area. I’m excited to see what LEGOLAND California has in store for the next few years. All in all, I hope that you two had a wonderful time exploring the park. - Justin C. 😉
had a trip to Thorpe park yesterday overall good day other than they were running the swarm and stealth on both one trains and the swarm was on a 75 minute queue and then they were over filling the station queues in the swarm Merlin operations aren’t doing the best at the moment
I can't help it but to think that Merlin parks do a bit of implementing savings. Great difference of what merlin used to be. Great video again! Thank you for bringing us with you.
Man I miss going to Lego land I think my favorite food has to be the Granny Apple Fries also it seems like you had soooo much fun I love seeing your channel your guys are sooo cool and I love your vibes! Much love and support! ❤️
The best area definitely was Lego movie world but still something didn’t look right I think it was the walls being too small especially around the drop towers
Hey, have either of you two ever been to The Land of Oz theme park in North Carolina? If not, you two should definitely visit! My recommendation would be to visit during the autumn season to get the best experience possible, for you get not only the whole story but every character from the movie as well.
I'm a bit surprised to hear this park isn't up to par, but admittedly I've only done the ones in CA and FL, and judging by the other comments, perhaps I was in the minority on Legoland California. In 2017 I really liked this park, and I far preferred it to the FL location, but I also don't have the experience of going to the other Legoland parks to compare it to. I have to admit the outside waiting area for the flying theater (added after I visited) looked really cheap. The Dino boat ride used to be like a Lego version of Storybookland; thought it was nice back in the day, but it looks like they did a good job updating it.
Truthfully I think it is time for Lego parks to step up their coaster game a little bit. I am not talking big massive coasters but add a couple to a few "family" coasters over the years with a little more thrill factor. Though all ages LOVE Lego's and going there but the kids have become more daring this day and age at younger ages. Seems like the more I ask friends and their kids how vacation was and Legoland the younger love it but the 7-10 year old's just shrug shoulders saying they need bigger rides and coasters. They aren't talking flips, corkscrews and stuff like that. Just faster, bigger and more hills. Maybe just up their game a LITTLE for those families that have kids in the transition age for something a little "more" but not quite the big boy/girl rides yet though their younger siblings still have a blast on the original stuff and them too but just the little extra! Of course just my opinion which really doesn't matter! LOL! Or maybe build the coasters they have modals of with a bit add on! Yup, even the loop one...😁! You build it, they will come!
At this moment in time, the park is relying more on its natural beauty than its actual theming. I hope the construction process for the future makes the park a top lego park, we can only stay optimistic!
Next time you’re in Northern California you should go to Gilroy Gardens Park. By the way on your travels betwixt Santa Cruz and Great America, in Scotts Valley, you drove directly past the location of Arrow Dynamics and a defunct Santa’s Village Theme Park
Took my nephew to Legoland when he was 6 and after about two hours or so he pronounced it "boring". I wasn't impressed myself, but I thought for sure he would have enjoyed it. Love this video, though. You present the park very well.
Shawn and Charlotte when you go to Disneyland Paris I’m hoping you go at Christmas. 🎄 I’m also hoping that you might go to Europa Park at Christmas as well 🎄🎅🎁☃️❄️
@@ThemeParkWorldwide The San Diego Zoo is great, but also check out the Safari Park! Disney clearly stole quite liberally from the SP when building Animal Kingdom and you can get a combo ticket for both the zoo and SP to save money. Both are huge though and would probably require their own dedicated day.
Hey shaun. Im off to BPB on saturday 5th october, do you have any idea what the crowds are like at that time of year, please? Its my 40th and my son's 17th birthday present 😊
This looks a lovely park! One question - Why are the American theme parks so much stricter than UK and European ones about not filming on the ride and not allowing go-pros? The official On-Ride clips are not the same
DEFINITELY agree that this is one of the worst Legoland Parks. When me and my family visited, everything single roller coaster was closed😢 always love your vids though
I feel like you two did yourselves and your subscribers a huge disservice by completely ignoring the San Diego Zoo on this trip. How could you not take a day and visit one of the largest, most popular zoos in the world. It even has an absolutely amazing skybucket ride. Massive massive fail
We plan our trips to primarily visit theme parks (hence the channel name) 😉 We would love to visit the zoo at some point, however this didn’t work with our trip itinerary this time!
I feel aweful Shawn. I thought seriously of warning you off this particular park. It's always been a real disappointment. We live in San Diego and have only been one time, very minimal park to say the least and ride closers are the norm I'm afraid. While on the subject of disappointing parks, in case you're considering it, "Sesame Place" Is a real waste of time unless you have very very small children.
Welcome to San Diego! As a local it’s very disappointing in having this Legoland and Seaworld San Diego as our home parks. Although I am glad that Seaworld has progressed in adding rollercoasters. Before 2012 all we really had was Journey to Atlantis and Giant Dipper at Belmont Park. Hope you enjoy my home town 😀
that looks like a nice park. you are my favourite youtubers. havent missed a video for months

Current leadership is driving merlin into the ground. Alton towers is a joke, as is lego land.
Thanks for sharing!
Great Vlog as always Shawn and Charlotte
Apparently the dinosaur boat ride used to be a Fairy Tale Brook ride attraction until like a year or so ago. Looks an interesting park.
Shawn and his one-handed action 😏
What do you mean by that?

The dinosaur area I believe is new for this year I think the rides were there before but they added the theme to the rides or rethemed the rides

The beginning of the dinosaur boat ride looked like a mirror image of fairy tale brook
It was very similar!
🚤🪆🌐🧩🦖Absolutely beyond incredible in what they can active with lego.
The Dino quest used to be Californias version of fairy tale brook. It got rethemed this year
