Amid Raqiyeh's tears and the cries of people as their homes were destroyed one by one, her dreams turned to ashes. Yet, even in these dark and bitter moments, the light of hope in Raqiyeh’s heart did not extinguish. She knew that the demolition of her hut was not the end of the road.

Camera man, it's time to get a tent for her. As you can see the one she has is beyond repair. The weather will soon be changing, she will need a wood stove and somewhere safe to live. We know she needs a home, but for now where she's living is out of the question . She and her baby are in need of stability . The mountains and somewhere like a cave seem to be the safest area. With what she has she can get a place before the cold weather comes. That will help focus on saving for the purchase of land and a permit to build. 🙏

Rocquia, I understand the turmoil you’re all in and the impacts of displacement that you’re all facing! And, I m not intending to minimize your daily struggles just to survive! However, you’re a strong resilient person and you have 2 reasons (one not yet born) to go the extra mile and determine your path of survival.
Look at it this way: a blessing in disguise…a time for change…don’t keep walking like you’re dragging a huge ball and chain..instead, kick it off and start thinking and planning out the next chapter in your lives..
Walk with a determination and pray to God to help you along the way!
Think about the other families, the many who have lots of children and many belongings they now have to protect from the weather, not to mention protecting and sheltering their children..
You, on the other hand, only have a few belongings that can fit easily in the back of a truck..you have Asmah for now until the newborn arrives..you’ll have to think sensibly about where you want to be when the time comes to birth your baby, and who will help you with the birth (midwife?) and to watch Asmah ..
Do you want to pitch your tent closer to the city or in your sister’s yard until after baby is born? Elsewhere?
Take this upheaval in your nomad community as an opportunity to change things around for yourself..as in plan ahead, figure out a course of action..and, you have a smart friend, Hamid, to help make it happen, instead of sitting and walking around, looking and talking defeated! Your survival instincts are at play so turn the negative on its head and think positive…you will get through this upheaval as those with far more responsibility there, will also!!!
