To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand this factory. The optimizations are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of practical engineering most of the patterns will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Trupen's upbeat explanation, which is deftly woven into his love for factories- his personal philosophy draws heavily from "how things are made" textbooks, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these designs, to realise that they're not just optimal- they say something deep about real factories. As a consequence people who dislike this factory truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the plethora of "damaged machines," which itself is a clever optimization stemming from knowing that hp is a resource. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Trupen's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Factorio tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. Yep. My first factory I just let run for like 5 hours until enough components for the rocket came out, because i just couldn't fit the mid-tier ingredient assemblers into the factory to make it go any faster.
@@Zandonus I actually did the same. I also manually transported things between buffer chests because there weren't enough room for a belt, And I figured I was halfway to the rocket anyway. The manual transport of items went away when i got logistics bots tho. but I made maybe 1 bots/min at best... Then I just went away for a few hours until everything started moving properly via the bots. The entire rest of the factory was bot based. no matter the material, it was bots. I can happily say my rocket was built 90% by bots.
You could improve your burning miners by adding 6 bacons with efficiency 3 modules around them. That makes them very efficient. And lay rail to deliver new modules into these bacons faster. Your labs work fine, you just need to pick a research. Start with "automation", it's very good at the beginning which is obviously where you are, since you haven't launched a rocket yet. The rest seems ok. Although I spotted one factory turned 90 degrees. But you can easily fix that by rebuilding your base around it the right way. =3
