Happy to hear ALC & Oh give it up to Madlib. Obviously he inspired his lil bro, but I been peeped how ALC followed his lead into that rawer, grittier sound. Same thing with Dilla (RIP). When Jaylib first formed, I wanted Madlib to go more in Jay Dee's direction (smoother basslines, punchier snares, cleaner mixing, etc.), but it was the opposite. He really led the way.
Al is the legend. From the West Coast to the East, from working with the biggest and hottest names to sampling RUclips reviews with 1k views and doing interviews like this.
Congratulations on a dope interview, this was my first exposure to Eric. The energy is right, instant sub. I'm in Philly, the earthquake was a 4.8, but by the time it got to us it was barely a shake. As an Audacity only beat maker this interview was everything.
Bruiser Wolfs word play is unmatched…new albums been in rotation since it dropped The Bruiser Brigade…dopest in the building , can’t wait for the new Gangrene Alchemist is the King
IT SHOWS YOU'VE GOTTA HAVE, PASSION AND DEDICATION FOR WHAT IT IS YOU DO!!!!!!!! THESE TWO ALONE SHOW THAT!!!!!! THEY HANGOUT TOGETHER TOO. ALL THE REAL ILL DIGGER'S AND BEAT MAKERS, I FUCKIN'LOVE IT!!!!!!! IT'S A REALLY DOPE TIME TO BE ALIVE.
loving the interview. Speaking on Elzhi, Talking in my sleep story telling is so incredible (but the europass version as it doesnt have the scratches in it, it lets you take in the multi layers of story telling in the track) the way he depicts a nightmare boggles my mind
Young brotha I appreciate your channel and interview. This was dope. You was born when I was graduating high school. You definitely did your research and definitely made an old head proud. Subscribed !!!
Oh you holding down the whole culture out here. I see you playa...Alchemist inspired my tag...I'll never forget hearing Essence with the Lox. Jade had the east coast speaking spanish lol with that one line
thats funny cuz the beats i want my homies to cook on badly they never do 😂😂 it’s definitely a feeling for sure. peace. this interview got me amped at work right now
One time, I was watching a parliament/funkadelic concert from like the 70s. My mother-in-law was visiting and said "I was at that concert..." she was living with some ninja in DC at the time...I was weak😂😭😭
You got a new scribba. I'd like to add to some of the thoughts shared in this video. Coming from a point of view as a producer also, when you say not every beat is for every rapper which is true but also if the lyricist isn't a producer then it doesn't connect, it's not always the beat, you could in some cases just change a hi hat or snare, a kick drum. Basically little adjustments can flip the script then they feel it just they didn't know it. Another point you made, which is critical of the majority of hiphop at the moment, I feel the problem is especially with hiphop that pretty much conforms to a formula like most genre's (not that you can't break some rules, but that won't sit well mostly with hippop).. some will complain the golden era was 90's which imo is because it's an era of innovation, same thing the period that the South hiphop style took over and eventually crossed over into mainstream hiphop, popularising those styles of beats, the "mumble rap"... which has stayed pretty much prevalent to this day with all it's off shoots, 'trap, 'drill.. etc... short explanation long, I feel that's why next gen kids rapping has lost a lot of integrity because it's coming off the back of being influenced by a style that for its time was innovative but because that style is uniquely simplified, these kids inspired now can't really take that too far, it's life style over substance now. Life style has always been there but substance is hard to engage being inspired by a uniquely simple thing. It'll come out it's rut eventually into another style, but youngers don't be afraid to blaze your own trails!... don't over look the innovation of the past that's a wealth of information that has a limitless pool of styles still to be explored yet. The end ❤
Just found your channel and you probably get this all the time but…..HOW DO YOU GET THESE INTERVIEWS!!!!, Your channel will blow, your channel is DOPE bro!!!!
