These kits became notorious for the fuselage 'issues' from the very first releases, but nothing was done about it and here we are... they're in the starter set range! Naughty Airfix!
Really like this. Waiting for Aldi/Lidl to get some more cheap kits back. Very tempted to invest in an airbrush although I find hand painting quite therapeutic. Also have to say like the swastikas on the tail. I’m sure they used to be included on the decals. I’ve only recently returned to modelling and noticed they don’t seem to be a thing anymore, but I’m a sucker for historical accuracy.
I was reluctant to get an airbrush for years, but once I got used to it I saw the appeal so now I both hand paint and airbrush depending on the circumstances
Swastikas are not included for legal reasons in the EU. After market sets are available for all scales by Aero master/ Squadron. Kit brands from Japan( eg. Hasegawa)and China( Dragon/Trumpeter)have them included in halves to get around the legal reasons.
Just a little information about the wheel well colour. Depending on the factory and paint supply both Rlm 66 and 02 are both correct. The landing gear main legs and wheel hubs should be gloss black.
For your first airbrushed model, you’ve done very well. A tip for warped parts would be to clamp them to a flat bar or similar and pour clean hot water over them from a kettle. Allow them to cool and they should be fairly straight.
That looks absolutely fine. Totally agree re swastikas, why it's taboo to include them I have no idea. There are ways around it, supplying them in two halves for example.
Looking great cpt vfc, have this kit in my stash so will check if warped. New to airbrushing also. I think Vallejo paints with Vallejo flow improver and thinner.
Nice one skipper. The airbrushing does make a huge difference, glad you decided to change. I personally am absolutely rubbish with my airbrush but then, my brush painting with acrylics is even worse. Maybe I should just buy a decent airbrush instead of being a cheapskate. My regards.....
I think that's rather odd. The detailing looks good but they've cut down on the decals. I remember a review from a while back that the swastika is banned in some countries. Is that still true?
There you go. I am the 100th like on your video and I really like and agree to the 5th out of those two reasons you mentioned on why you wanted to build this kit 😂. Great result for the first airbrushed kit and congratulations. As of the warping, wouldn't dipping in hot water and reshaping the plastic help? I built a Revell 1/72 tank a few years ago and they actually recommended the hot water dip tip to bend the tracks to the correct angle. Wonder if that would have worked in this case.

That turned out great, nice fix on the fuselage
You did fantastic on this build! 🤗🤗

I've also done a little more research and some aircraft were rushed from the factory with unpainted wheel wells or RLM76 underside overspray.
Nice work.

I do like Vallejo paints. Both Model Air and Model Colour ranges (with thinner) go through the airbrush really well.

Nice job with the free hand camo. Was fun to see someone build what was my first kit, when I returned to the hobby.
Not baby Jesus crying. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you, Mr 100. Yes the hot water trick would likely have worked, but I am usually very good at burning myself with hot things
