A message from Josh:
Last year, one of my best friends played me a band he saw on the Late Night with Stephen Colbert. I can’t recall if I said “whoa” or “wow” or both, but it was a very pleasant smack in the face. A few days later he and I went to a show and on the way, he played me more of their music. Hooked. I realized I hadn’t felt this much love for a new band in twenty years. That was both sad and disturbing. I’m not sure who it says what about, but regardless, I was head-over-heals in love with Big Thief. We got to see them in Santa Ana a month or so later and it’s been really fun to feel so excited by a newer band. I’ve listened to this song about 7,319 times and still replace an “a” for a “the,” and a “bed” for a “breath,” but nevertheless, I love this song. I love all their songs, but this was the first one I ever heard and I played a lot, and though I’m a whole step lower than they are normally, I feel like I shouldn’t post this because it’s almost like I’m doing an impression. I’m not, it’s just really comfortable for me to sing. Again, I love this song (I heard Obama likes it too), I love this band, and I love my friend for showing them to me, among many other things and reasons.

Yes! I love their concerts around 2004 and Josh's work on John's solo albums. They did my favorite music together.
Josh is AMAZInG and can sound like so many different singers and he plays many different instruments
I love Josh more than you guys would believe. He’s so sweet and humble. Very talented, as well. I love John almost as much. They’re both amazing. But it really makes me mad when the John fans hate Josh because he doesn’t play just like John. It’s stupid because of course John can play his own style better. It’s his style. And I bet if Josh was the original guitarist, they’d hate John. But I think we should just be unbiased and appreciate them for their differences.

Exactly right. People judged him based on all of Johns attributes which isn’t fair. Admittedly John left some massive shoes to fill but Josh had been their touring guitarist. Should have kept them both to see what they could come up with

Klinghoffer is a talented soul. I remember I judged him once, just cause I loved John. I still cringe at the thought of such ignorance of mine. This dude is awesome and would definitely be on the top of my list of people I’d kick it with it.

Josh Klinghoffer is one badass dude. This is like the fourth non-Chili Pepper related song I have heard from him and there is something about the emotions of his tunes that are insanely catchy and hit different to few people. I think that's what he wants, like John, is to be able to influence the lives of a handful of people (even if it is just a few). I wish he received more credit but you definitely have to be one of my favorite musicians.

I’d never heard that song, but that was such a great cover! Josh’s voice is strange and delicate and beautiful. He’s gonna be just fine. He’s been playing with world class musicians since about the age of 19, I think.

Josh or Dave or Jhon are great pros and everyone of them took different sounds in the band... i think people will prefer always frusciante because the band became very popular by the time when he was there(Californication above all), and i can understand(it s the reason why i took a guitar in my hand), but i loved the album jhon made alone, so i'm happy of him in the band but more when he did his things alone(it was like i had 2 RHCP) while josh was playing with RHCP and did great things too(I loved "Look Around "simply great)...So my point is people are selfish they only think to their feelings to the band(i love Jhon/Josh) and lose the perspective... it's a good thing to have both them for us motherfuckers ... and if you love josh he's not dead... he ll play with other bands...stop complaining and go hear him with new songs!
I can relate at least a little bit with this. I've always loved josh since I was introduced to the band during his time with them but also was so touched by John's music that I wished he would be back. I think they are great fucking musicians but they definetly appeal to different kinds of people. As much as I'm excited to see what's coming from the Red Hot with John's retun I'm also sad for Josh's departure, I hope he does well.

Every one of them take something different in the band... and one time for all without him Red hot could not go on with the band... The main difference between them is that Frusciante is one of the most experimental guy around, i mean he fucked up success because he wanted to do his experimental music, so i think the difference is not in the guitar tricks but in the mind of them... Pieces like animal bar or wet sand are just incredible... but after all i think that the style of josh was ok for the red hot...of course more in tune than dave navarro that is a clear hard rock/metal guy... this is clear when you compare flea bassline with the dave style and they just don't go in the same direction... even if dave was not good he took a lot in the band...i mean rollercoaster of love is super beautiful... What i wanted to say was stop complaining for one member or another... because there's no one better than another and in the end, you can be sure FRUSCIANTE WILL GO AWAY another time :D is what he does best, create something incredible and then fade away :D like a comet mauahuaha

Red hot chili would be a better band with two guitarists, Josh and John. Why not 2 guitars? More talent, more sounds… But I suppose it’s all about business, not music. If I was Flea I’d prefer two guitars in the band.

WOW! I can't believe what I'm hearing.
I can honestly say I wasn't really feeling Josh in RHCP but after hearing this it has completely changed my perspective on him.
I had no idea he even had any of this in him! WOWWW!
Seems to me he was in the wrong band.
Josh and RHCP's music just didn't go together as well as John and RHCP. There really isn't a comparison.
It's like trying to make something fit when it doesn't belong in there.
I'd love to hear more of Josh's music solo or in another band where their music style's can compliment one another.

Have you heard any of Dot Hacker's music? they're a band fronted by Josh which makes very different music to RHCP. I personally think that's by far the best showcase of Josh's talent.

I love John but he quit twice before and Josh stepped in for the God John is and it was pretty difficult for him being compared to John but Josh has a great attitude and won most die hard Chili Peppers fans with 2 amazing albums.

John's talent can't compare to this guy, at all. Just listen to John's guitar masters tracks. John knew how to tell much by saying little. It's not just guitar playing, there are much more efficient guitar players, it was John's attitude which shined through on every single song, songwriting abilities and his energy that made him very special. I'm not trying to disregard Josh, really, but I hate this rhcp guitarist debate. These guys can't compare. Josh was just filling in the empty space. The needed chemistry with the rest of the band was never there apparently.

That's why I hate I'm with you and Getaway. They didn't give this guy enough space, he's a genius, just sounds very different than the band used to. So they made some stupid blend where the two albums just sound like "a pop rock band" and anytime he actually gets some space to play the guitar it's so good (Sick love?!), I really wish they got some new producer who would understand Josh more. The guitar makes the songs, but they scrapped most of it and gave us drum and bass albums with nothing to say. I'll be so mad if the new album is good just because it has actual minimalist guitar, the thing that makes rhcp fun. We've heard it on Josh's solor recordings and John coop, he can do minimalist very well. man I hate producers I wish bands would just release what they like, I don't mind a 50 song-long album.
