- BMW made a step up in the mid-range adventure tourer. The latest addition is the F 900 GS that now features a bigger and more powerful engine and a completely new chassis. We got the change to get a new unit out of the box today. Hope you like it!
keep doing this for your bro Christian! RIP.. Good review!
2:37 "Made in Germany" stamp on cardboard
Bike made in China? 🤔
Cardboard made in Germany? 😂
Is not a Tenere killer, but I can tell you for sure what it kills, yours Bank account.
The China-made Engine is a turn off to me...I'll pass 👎👎
All 800 series were china engines
@@Knockelhead
All the reason to avoid them as well 👎
Currently assembled in Thailand BMW Factory.
@@RacingandAdventure
A China engine, assembled in Thailand , ok got it
Gosh, BMW really screwed up the look of their designs(cars & motorcycles). The Gs from that epic front end to an unavoidable ants face, not to mention the new 1300 👾
Wtf are those frint calipers they look like single piston. Mine as well vuy a cf moto since so much if this is already Chinese
I've just seen the new red bull video, with Toprac riding one of these, amazing.
Sick video! 💯 agree!!! 👊🏻
This one costs at least 3,5k euros more than the base Tenere. That's no competitor. I think it looks very plane too. I mean at that point, the Africa Twin 1100 costs just 1500 more.
And the AT is a proper, serious bike!
Let's see how much of that $3.5k is left after you upgrade the suspension, add an Akrapovic exhaust, heated grips, cruise control, metal handguards.....and upgrade to a 900cc engine 😉
@@GCTO239 So that you have a completely different bike?
So what's the point even comparing them? I mean, at that point I would get the Honda anyway. It's heavier? Sure, but it's also a hundred times more reliable. Also, the BMW is simply ugly as sin. The older ones were better looking.
Too much talk...
Engine still Chinese?
Yamaha lost all of it’s engineering in the past years.. 😢 KTM literally RAN IT OVER (with the exception of a timeless R1). BMW & KTM are the only two bike manufacturers still making BIG changes & not sleeping. 🥰🤩✨
Yamaha never breaks, like literally only if you don’t change oil in 3 years😅 try half of that with a 890 duke lol
Even the crate construction impresses me!
Really nice but the small fuel tank kills it as a travel bike. I'd have one for Europe, but I probably wouldn't take it riding through Mauritania or on tour across South America, and that's what the history of the GS line is all about.
Its not the target market. For trip like that you take 1250 (or new 1300 once it comes out).
@@IvonaFlakusThe 1250 and 1300 are of course waaaay too heavy for that kind of riding. The 19" front would be a disadvantage too. This 900gs is designed to compete with the likes of the KTM890 adventure. Yet the KTM does over 400km on its 20l tank and fully fulled is 10kg lighter.
You have the Adventure model for that
@@CASHJohnnyThat is even heavier. So what you are saying is that this is an adventure bike that isn't for adventure? like I say, it looks likes a nice bike and an improvement on the old one in many ways, but it's not up for any serious adventure/expedition in the way an 890, a Tuareg, or Desertx are. This is what it's supposed to be competing with.
Buy auxiliary tank, 10l plus….all in all better than adv …just my opinion
Engine made in China?!
Where is the air filter ?
On F900R you have to remove all the plastic fairings and get to it.
Not a practical thing to do on the road 😅
Cmon, their was no fuel in the bike you added it, the 700/850 units are Rotax engines and this is developed off them too.
700/800 were Rotax, 750/850/900 are Chinese Zongshen engines
I keep seeing thumbnails that say "Tenere killer".
How many bikes have been Tenere killers and it's still here? 😂😂
Everybody wants a piece of the Tenere!
Had a T7 - don’t miss it - my 1250GSA makes it feel top heavy;) T7 gearbox was a shocker too. You should see how many T7’s are on the second hand market. It’s not pretty.
Its still here because its cheap AF 😂
from a functional standpoint i think the tuareg came closest
The Tuareg beats the Tenere on power and stock suspension alone, the World Raid adds great cost over the base bike.
I like the look and proportions of this bike except the front end .. I mean the headlight part. May be it’s only me and it may take time to grow over. Otherwise a good looking bike.
What is that back ? Where do you put luggage ? Is there an option for a rack ?Overall....not bad !
I've wondered the same im sure there will be some sort of luggage system for it, probably not very big though. I dont think thats the market bmw have made this for its basically to kill the tenere....Obviously there is the adventure version which will be better for luggage but doesn't look as cool
Tenere killer? Seriously? 😂 BMW fans can only hope that quality control on this bike works better than on the 1300 GS.
Built in china. German price tag
My T7 had a shit gearbox. False neutrals, stodgy shift quality - it’s a common issue on the MT07. Tried everything to get it sorted, to the point where I sold it. Also - general rule - never touch a first gen bike. 1300 included. Yamaha has a two year warranty, BMW has a 5 year warranty and 3 years roadside assist, just saying.
@@columbo74incorrect. The engine is built in China, and the bike is assembled in BMW’s Thai plant. Get the facts correct instead of spreading bullshit.
And who in their right mind would pay this kind of money for an off road bike cos it ain’t no good as a tourer adv 🤔
I you ever ride a bmw , then you know. Bmw bikes are in a different level. There is no comparison. If you dont know about bikes, dont talk about it at all
what about the other version of the gs900? the GS adventure 900? when is it gonna be released?
Wondering how top heavy does it feel and how the suspension will handle technical terrain
That is a great question. Last year I rode some ADV bikes and this year I would like to try also this one. Drop by to check my content when have time. Cheers. Ride safe.
It not very top heavy, but suspension is not for offroad.
And ot has made on china engine as far as i inderstand
Voge 900 dsx, same engine, 8900 eur 😮😮
i have a ducati sled. F900 is amazing. sat on one today. solid. adj suspension is very nice. the exhaust notes are nice. well done. Ducati needs to answer.
I don't know who BMW's new designers are, but they are light years better than the old ones. The new 1300GS and 900GS look really, really good.
Don't like the 1300 at all to look at.
Don’t remember the name but there is indeed a new lead designer.
I agree - Desperate to go and see them both in the flesh - my local dealer gets both models next month.
Agree 100%. GSs have never been pretty bikes to look at but the new models this year are vast improvements.
The designers are good but bring back the googly eyes o.O
by the time people will see it can easily can beat the T7 with its capability and power .
Tuareg has 24cm front travel.
I'd take it over the Tenere. I ride a bmw. There is just that bit more class and taste about them👌
And a major cost of ownership difference.
It can’t be a Tenere killer because it’s not at the same price range…
But it look nice that’s for sure
Maybe you forgot but Tuareg 660 have 240mm
It's a loud motor. Noisy compared to Honda and Yamaha Tenere.
14.5L isn't good enough for this type of bike.
It’s almost 40% more than the Tenere in its base configuration. Comparing the two bikes is stupid.
Pricing vary significantly in different markets. In Australia for instance the 900GS it's almost the same price as a Tenere 700. Yamaha is ripping off customers as if there is no tomorrow
I can't see this being much competition to the KTM 890 adventure R
Exactly, more than with the Tuareg and the Tenere in my opinion. :) Rode the Tuareg, you can check it on my channel. Cheers and ride safe.
Great looking bike and if you are shorter rider this bike will fit you like a glove. With a low seat of only 815mm from the accessory catalog 👌🏻
Very true!
I think they're 100% made by Loncin in China. So it's not really a BMW at all.
Incorrect. It’s assembled at BMW’s Thai plant
@@martyn_gyes Martyn 'thai' Germans take the made in China motor and bolt it on.
Priced about the same as a 2024 Africa Twin. Why this bike?
I will test it next week and come up with an answer!
What’s the model of the tires on this bike?
take the honda transalp 750. and cheaper
Leave this crappy bike in the crate please.
Tenere’s killer? Sorry guys but tenere died when transalp 750 released and many others on the same category!
Se ve muy desordenado el taller
New tank is smaller, wrong direction on design. Looks are ok, personally think the previous generation being the 850 has a better look.
I have a 2013 G650GS and its a ton of fun.... I can't wait to upgrade to this F900GS ❤
Is this enduro one?
I’m 175 cm. Which one would you recommend?
If you like to keep both feet on the ground i would say the GS1300 is your answer.
@@RacingandAdventurethanks!
Upcoming soon Tenere 900 ..
Easy beating)
It's better to buy a real BMW GS from the 1990s and renovate it
Wow, most beautiful motorcycle I've ever seen !
You really have no idea what you are talking about, right?
I drive an 850, you are talking nonsense.
💯💘
Finaly a GS that looks good.
It looks like a Honda.
Can't tell if thats good or bad from you're perspective.@@simulacrae
@@RUclips_Globetrotter It's bad, really bad. A GS is GS. the 1300 stays on that line and modernizes the old look while introducing new elements. This 900Gs though, eeeew.
And now there's no capable real middleweight GS left, the new 850 is just the old 750GS.
💯 *PromoSM*
I mean price wise... Don't think so.
BMW can dream big. I like it. 😂
I hope to see more of this bike ....on the road perhaps? But first let us see the rest of its unboxing!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
the bike looks amazing, truly does but fancy them cheaping out with that crap bashplate and NO crash bars, must try harder
As with every production model, the aftermarket parts will be produced. But first, every manufacture of aftermarket parts needs a unit for the engineers to work from. BMW has crash bars already but I believe its an add-on when ordering. I chose to wait for different designs.
The Tuareg has 240mm travel😊
Why on earth would you not remove the suspension straps from the bike before turning it on?! wtf
Did we watch the same video? I only saw him starting it when it was out of the crate etc. Maybe I missed something?
😮😮😮👏👍
What kind of shoes are you wearing here?
Rev’it motorcycle shoes.
no 4k Video, damn!
It looks HORRIBLE !!
Voge 900dx?
Urban GS or F900GS?
I hate 17in rear wheels.
19in please.
19 inch rear wheel? Good luck finding adv tires in that size...
@@derache123 my 1971 R60/5 has 2 19in wheels. It makes no sense to have little rear wheels. Why have a 21in front and 17in rear? Whatever the front wheel needs to roll over, the rear wheel needs to also roll over. In addition to ground clearance, the purpose of a large wheel is to make it easier to roll over obstructions and make riding smoother on uneven ground.
What's good for the front is good for the rear. I don't understand the reasoning.
@@chadkline4268 The difference is that you steer with your front wheel. You don't steer with your rear wheel. When you're rolling over rocks and other larger obstacles off road, a bigger front wheel provides more stability. Increasing the size of the rear wheel would provide little benefit in this regard, in comparison to increasing the size of the front wheel.
But my first comment was primarily that most offroad focused ADV bikes use a 21/17 or 21/18 setup, so it will be very difficult to find ADV tires for a 19 inch rear wheel.
@@derache123 ok, I have no agenda except understanding. It is the width of the front wheel that is more important for steering on various terrain, not the diameter, in my experience. I think these things are being done to accommodate women and short men, just like the scooped out seats, which cause 15% of all accidents to involve serious injuries to the groin. The mfrs are trying to market to short people for profit instead of engineering for performance and safety. That's my view.
Mad bike whats the price ?
GS will be around 13500€ and GS adventure version will be around 14500€
People just don't get why the Tenere is so special and therefore successful...
Had one, sold it. Don’t miss it.
@@martyn_g talking about the bigger picture, mate. There are always some people who don't like a particular bike. Fair enough. The vast majority of people, who use their adv bikes as intended, love the T7.
Then please tell us WHY 😂 I spoke to countless people who have had Tenere and NONE of them miss it 😂 whyyyy? 😅
@@IvonaFlakus just do some real offroading and serious trips far away from dealers...then you know. Use adv bikes as they are intended to...then you know as well.
@@IvonaFlakus wow, you spoke to people. That will do it. ;) I base my comments on personal experience. But you know what? Buy the bike you like. If you meet other riders on the tracks, you see many T7s and Africa Twins...for a reason. Stay safe and have fun, street warriors! :)
How can you say "the bike will be planted on the asphal". How do you know that? The bike is still unpacked. I thought you were a tester, not a die hard fan :-)
Open belly, ton of electronics, … it’s a Honda Transalp competitor. Don’t see it as a T7 class bike.
I love new models and have been driving BMWs, among others, since 1980. Back then it was an R90S. This month I had to make the decision whether it should be a new R1250GS, an F850GS or an F900GS. I would have had to wait for the 900, but I compared the facts. After extensive test rides on both, the R1250GS was ruled out for me. The F850 GS is much more approachable and sporty. Just awesome! I have 5 motorcycles. Among others, a K1600GT and a KTM 890 Duke R. The F900GS actually impresses me less. In summary, I think it's a marketing move on paper with a serious improvement over the F850GS. The horsepower is "marketing horsepower" because the additional power of the 900 only occurs above 8,000 rpm. Below, the 850 and 900 engines are almost the same. It may be that the 900 feels more powerful because it has a shorter gear ratio. I find that disadvantageous because the 850 revs relatively high on the highway. In daily use, the driving values and impressions will hardly differ. I compared the dyno charts, but unfortunately I can't post them here. The 900 was needed because of Euro5+ and the marketing horsepower deficit compared to KTM. Besides, the 900 engine was already in production anyway and now they just need one made. The F 900 will never match the driving values of a KTM 890 Adv. or Husky 901, but the BMW engine is much more refined than the KTM/Husky LC8c. I know the LC8c well from my KTM 890 Duke R. The new adjustable Showa fork on the 900 is a significant improvement over the rubber fork on the 850. The F900GS is not 14kg lighter than the F850 GS...at least not in the BMW information about the models on the internet. It weighs “only” 10kg less than the F850GS… and oops… F900GSA is even two kg heavier than the F850GSA (246kg vs. 244kg). As with the R1300GS, the 900 GS tank is half a liter smaller than its predecessor... is that supposed to be a joke? The 850 tank is already too small. Design is a matter of taste. I think the 850GS is nicer and more dignified. e.g. The rear frame triangle looks cheap on the 900 because it is hardly covered like on the 850. The Vario case holders are completely missing! It looks like some of the weight saving also came from fewer and smaller panels up front and that looks cheap too in my opinion. The elimination of the taillight, as on the 1300GS, is certainly a weight saving. I think it looks terrible on both (the 1300 and 900)... but as I said... a matter of taste! From what I heard, the old Vario cases no longer fit the 900GS. But I haven't been able to confirm that yet. Ultimately, the 900GS costs $1000 more (list price) than the 850GS and there are no discounts or preferential financing. I got $2000 off my new 2023 F850GS. BMW also offers 1.9% financing for 60 months (0% for 36 months is also offered!). But to each his own.
First !!!
The price alone prevents most people from going off-road. And if your head isn't clear, it's better to leave it alone.
Hahaha Tenere killer ? Why not Ktm 890R killer ? 😂
Or an desertX killer :))
@ionutd84 wishful thinking. The desertx has more range, power, way better brakes and costs about the same money. Not to mention electronics are far more advanced.
