    Have played with logic years ago, made some tiny projects but I'm at a point now where I really want to learn more. I invested in some good hardware to get me going, but realized I also really need to get to know the software better. Thank you so much for this series: it's clear, comprehensive and really helps me learn some fundamentals I didn't know about yet!

    Josh - exactly what I've been looking for. Linked here from Apple's Logic Pro resources page, as I needed to jump from Garageband to Logic because of Arturia's controller integration benefits. Thanks so much!

    you are the perfect teacher thanks brother. beneath the tool menu where the performance recording button is in version 10.6 my display bar is blank - how do i get the bars to show up like you have in your display screen?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  Год назад +1

      I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. You'll have to elaborate a bit more. Beneath the tool menu is the grid. So you're not seeing the bar numbers? Or the bar lines in the grid? If you're not seeing a musical grid with bars and bar numbers, you'll need to go to File > Project Settings > General. And then turn on "use musical grid". If it's something else, elaborate a bit more and I'll try to help you.

      @@MusicTechHelpGuy On your screen you have the bar count 1 to 3 to 5 to 7 etc(its also the area where you showed us the yellow highlighted looping function) for some reason my row is just blank.

    When you choose custom in the beats section, you can still see the transport controls. When I do it, the beats overlaps the transports almost entirely. Am I missing something?

    Quick question: I realize that I recorded a song in a key that is to low for my voice. Is there a way to raise the pitch of all the audio tracks (guitar and bass) in a way that doesn’t sound funny?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  Год назад +1

      If you transpose the audio, you're always going to get some amount of digital artifacting, regardless of what method you use. However, you might be able to make it work if the guitar and bass are DI. You can transpose the DI signal up by just selecting the audio regions you want to transpose and pressing "option up/down" to transpose up or down the number of semitones you want. But anything beyond +/-2 semitones, is probably going to sound weird. If it's something that's going on a release, I would recommend just re-recording the parts. At least the guitar parts, probably will be easier to hide the bass parts, if you choose not to re-record those.

    • @vincent_vidal
      @vincent_vidal Год назад

      @@MusicTechHelpGuy Yeah… it’s not that noticeable!! I raised by 1 semitone and I don’t hear that much digital junk.. I’m going to tweak to find the correct key and re-record some of the guitars. Thank you for the response! Much appreciated! This will save me some time. It took me a week to get the guitar parts to my liking!

    Does everyone mix in mono, master in stereo, or it really doesn’t matter?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 года назад +1

      I check my mono compatibility often while I'm mixing. But I do not mix in mono. No mixing engineer I know personally mixes in mono. Just a few people on the internet who think it's the best way. I have a mono button on my monitor controller, but you can do the same thing by loading the GAIN plugin on your stereo output, and just click the mono button to check your mono compatibility.

    How do I import an old project in my new template

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 года назад +1

      I did a video a while back on rebuilding corrupted projects. I know yours is just an old project, not a corrupted project, but the process is the same. Open your template, and than import the old project from the browser. I demonstrate this in this video from 2 years ago: ruclips.net/video/fXrTOIFZQ4E/видео.html

  • @YeahButStilll

    Man your videos should just straight up be part of Logic. Like, your mug with a play button over it should pop up in the info box when you hover over something. A lot of logic’s commands aren’t explained well to me and even Logic’s explanation of the thing that doesn’t make sense, doesn’t make sense either.
