  • Enna Pathiri, also known as Fried Pathiri, is a popular traditional snack from the southern Indian state of Kerala. Pathiri itself refers to a type of unleavened flatbread made from rice flour. Enna Pathiri, specifically, is distinguished by its method of preparation, which involves frying the pathiri dough until it turns crispy and golden brown.
To make Enna Pathiri, rice flour is mixed with water to form a dough, which is then rolled out into thin circles. These circles are then deep-fried in hot oil until they puff up and become crispy. The end result is a crunchy and savory snack that pairs well with various accompaniments such as spicy curries, chutneys, or even enjoyed on its own.
Enna Pathiri is commonly served during special occasions, festivals, or as a tea-time snack in Kerala households. Its simplicity in ingredients and preparation, along with its delicious taste and crunchy texture, make it a beloved treat among locals and visitors alike.

PLEASE NOTE: I use coconut oil for most of the South Indian dishes, especially authentic Kerala recipes. However, you can use any cooking oil according to your personal choice. If there is any must use scenario, I will tell you that in the video.

To check temperature of oil either use a laser thermometer or use a wooden chopstick or back of a wooden spoon . I rest it into the oil if bubbles are formed the oil is ready for use. Thank you for sharing this interesting recipe.
