From items I just never use to supplies that don't produce the best sourdough bread results, don't waste your money on these things!
I will probably film a follow-up to this video sharing my favorite sourdough items, so make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it!

Goldmine of information!!!! Thank you for this!!!!
Glad it helps!!
@ Just starting my own sourdough journey!
You’re right about the salt! Sometimes, additives in salt can inhibit fermentation, which is probably why it didn’t work well for you!
Great video 😊
Ahh yeah, that must've been it!!
Thank you for the video. This was very helpful.
I have both bench scrapers...the wooden handled one is a family heirloom and not used. The curved handle one is an efficient way to scoop up sliced, chopped or diced foods, and it avoids dulling a chef's knife edge by regularly dragging it over a cutting board.
Thank you for this! So helpful!
I loved this video. I told myself i won't buy any special sourdough bread tools until i feel confident with the process. Now i have been making sourdough bread every week for 3 months and don't feel like i am missing anything. My bread is yummy and most of the time quite pretty
LOL. Funny. I too have purchased flimsy parchment sheets, blunt scrapers and a "lame" bread lame!!! I so get this video.
I'm so frugal so it's hard sometimes to figure out where you can save and where you should splurge. But OMG those parchment papers drive me nuts lol!!
I actually had the cheap parchment bake onto a loaf of artisan bread. Stuck like glue in one spot. 😢
@ohnoyce yes, I had that happen once too. Although, I may not have floured the bottom of the loaf. Regardless, that loaf baked in parchment, needless to say, fed the trashcan.
Thank you for this! I don’t think I have seen anyone do one of these kind of videos. So helpful and I agree with the baskets and lame!!
Glad it's helpful!!
Morton's Kosher salt also has anti-caking agents in it. In fact, I believe that the Kroger is likely produced by Morton for Kroger. Diamond Crystal Kosher salt doesn't have anti-caking agents. Redmond Real salt and Pink Himalayan are additive free.
Ahhh, good to know. Redmonds is my favorite!
This is a very helpful video. Too late for some of my purchases so far but going forward so good. Are there any hard silicone spatulas that you love! I bought some off Amazon and they just don’t scape down the jars very well. Kinda weak!
My favorite one was part of one of those junk sets 😢
Im happy with the banner on set I got on Amazon for only $23. It did come with a scoring razor and I do use it, a nice scraper which I haven’t used and a dough whisk which I like OK. Highly recommend.
I meant to write banneton. Sorry autocorrect
I love King Arthur!
What oven mitts or gloves do you use? ✌️♥️🍞
Lanon and these green ones that my in laws got from QVC 😂 I think the brand is temptations
I bought silicon baskets and absolutely HATE them
I hate that lame also 🤦🏻♀️
I think the jars would be awesome to keep and maintain a stiff starter.
They cost a fortune here in Canada so it’s a no go for me 😂
Ahh is the shipping crazy?
@ No, it’s the price 🤣 47$ for a 1/2 liter tulip jar. Crazy so it’s a pass ! ☺️
@@beuba5938 OMG that is nuts! It's less than $20 here!
@@thatsourdoughgal-v6l You can get them for around $7 if you shop around! I ❤them.
The blade on your lame is on backwards. You can get a little case that covers the blade. That said I don't like that one either!
🤣🤣I got roasted on other platforms for that and I've fixed it!! Thank you!! I think it will work well for baguettes at least, but yeah... for bread, hard pass! Why the heck don't these come with covers in the first place?!
@@thatsourdoughgal-v6l Lol no roasting from me just pointing it out. I use a cheap little $7 lame I got almost 20 years ago haha its the best for me. I keep it in a box though so I don't cut myself!
