I feel like Glyph of Death and Decay deserves at least an honorable mention. Being able to force enemies to cower in fear, you pull huge packs, drop d&d and auto CC enemies in your aoe randomly. Was in the game for a year before they changed it to slowing enemies then made a resurgence as a a runecarver ability in shadowlands. While not game changing, I'm also partial to glyph of rune tap that healed you for more and healed your party for 10% hp. That was back when rune tap healed instead of just reducing damage like it does now. Between that and my death strike bubble back when that was good, I almost never needed healers in dungeons, I'd keep all agro and heal my teammates. Was fun being #2 on the heal recount as a DK.
Glyph of victory roll also restores chi torpedo stacks, so you could stack mobs up and mash it, basically getting endless stacks when 1-2 mobs low hp This was a really popular strat in WoD CMs, as the chi torpedo did huge aoe healing, plus scaling with resolve on the monk!
The thing that made Dragon's Breath so crazy was that mages would pair it with Prismatic Crystal, which took 20% more damage from mage abilities and spread it evenly among all nearby enemies. DB and Blast Wave (which also had a damage increase glyph at the the time), would essentially hit a single target twice dealing upwards to 40% of their total health in just two spells. However, Combustion would reset the cooldown of those abilities, and you could BW, DB, BW, DB as a burst rotation. It was a bit of a gimmicky PvP build of course, but it was satisfying to get one single target locked in a pseudo stun with the knockback and incapacitate effects from the spells and finish them off with the remainder of combustion.
In MoP and WoD, warriors had Glyph of Rude Interruption: Successfully interrupting a spell with Pummel increases your damage by 6% for 20 sec. That was incredibly good.
Glyph of Envenom lasted 2 days in original WOTLK before being hotfixed out. Your Envenom ability no longer consumes Deadly Poison from your target. Too strong I suppose.
Wait... Where's the Glyph Of Disengage??? One of the best(if not the best) Hunter Glyphs ever created!!! We were the Kings and Queens of sitting above the AH door back then! That Glyph is no.1 or this list worth nuffin!
@@waduhek8931I think he means glyph of unleashed lightning and not glyph of lightning bolt. Glyph of lightning bolt was just 4% damage increase. Unleashed lightning made your lightning take 5 percent longer to cast but you could move while you casted it
I personally loved that ice block glyph, not for PvP but because it was awesome for AoE farming. Previously pulling casters with the melee in an AoE pull could be very dangerous because if your shield failed it could cause a hasty abort of the entire pull at best, certain death at worst. That immunity made it so easy. I bet that was probably the thinking behind it but it ended up being too powerful in other areas. Which was a funny thing in Wrath the first time with my Draenei Mage: Emergency Gift of the Naaru + Lifeblood + Iceblock. That combination saved me a number of times.
Just a few days before DF season 3 starts seeing that performance in Atal'Dazar filled me with an extreme amounts of anxiety of what is to come with pugs.
I imagine the de-curse rune was broken in PvP tbh, and that's why it's not coming back. You can just de-curse yourself and make yourself immune to some of Warlocks' most post powerful abilities at the time. It's not so much about the short duration. It's that you can cast it, weave and a couple spells, and then cast it again.
donno if glyph of demon hunting was ever used to tank raids or not, but it sure was great for pvp. you basically became an unkillable with the damage reduction and self heals. I remember 1v5 people in WSG, holding the tunnel just by myself heh
@@waduhek8931 ahh I just checked, it was a Warlock talent called "Kil'jaeden's Cunning" and not a glyph. I do remember that Paladin Glyph, that was so OP and I miss it so much. Good times lol.
But Hiru..... I wanted a 5 1/2 hour "History of Every Single Glyph" video. Way to disappoint. All your recent 2/3/4 hour compilation videos will just have to hold me over until we get a compilation video for the Glyphs. In all seriousness, this was another great video. Cant wait for your next upload.
Imo the Gag order glyph was probably the worst out of the bunch. At least for the first MoP season. Arms was INSANE broken. And if you played with a mage + healer ? (Which everyone did), you were never casting.
Hiru totally missed the mark with this one. Soul Swap used to remove the dots from one target to put them on another, like a cut and paste. In the glyphs first iteration, it changed it from cut/paste to copy/paste, and it was so useful it became baseline. I'm not sure if you noticed, but in the beginning of DF, Soul Swap just applied UA, corruption, and Agony because of how useful the OG glyph was.
Keep in mind, these glyphs were cheap as fuck too. Maybe not all the time, probably not when they were released, but a majority of these glyphs I played with back in the day despite being a broke nooby 13 year old in Cata and going into MoP etc.
Honestly I’m kinda in agreement, glyphs should have always been a thing for flavor, stuff like changing the animation or giving you a cute little ability that wasn’t meant for combat purposes like returning treant form for druids (it still pissed me off when they removed that as the legit shapeshift for resto!)
