Dear Andrew, I thoroughly enjoyed these tutorial sessions. As a complete beginner, it has been so helpful to receive your wisdom on watercolour painting. I have hung my second attempt on the wall as a souvenir of the endeavour. Thank you so much. Gary
Thank you Andrew for being so generous with your knowledge and skills. These videos are a joy to watch and very helpful. I love your painting style of is so fresh and lively. 😊
I watched these 5 videos and bought your book because your lessons are so instructive and your paintings are an inspiration. I have been painting since early 2021 (flowers, leaves) but recently began painting landscapes, houses, buildings while traveling. I have tended to overwork my paintings because I get nervous and start painting over what I’ve done and the result is flat. You’ve shown me how to paint buildings and skies in one go. This is the lesson I needed and you’re the only one to explain and show it clearly. Thank you so much!
Thank you Andrew for a simple straight forward approach to painting this picture, I liked the idea of 10 minute segments I personally found it very much easier to absorbe the information. Happy New year to you and all your other subscribers.
Dear Andrew, I am also a beginner. I love your style. I tried a few before, and all sorts of techniques and tricks, but your way seems so true to me. I am certain this suits me the best. I live too far, in Transylvania, so not really a chance to attend one of your workshops, but your videos are great and I start practicing using these. I also your way of alternating very watery washes with bold strokes and very concentrate paint as well. Thank you for these wonderful videos. By the way, I have just bought your book in pdf format. Have a great, creative new year!
Thank you Andrew what a joy to see your new lesson. Looking forward to watching the series. Santa gave me your beautiful book for Christmas. A very special gift. All the very best to you and yours for the New Year.
Hi Andrew, happy New Year to you. I’m really enjoying this series and particularly like the 10 minute instalments. Looking forward to seeing more of your inspirational videos. Thank you.
Another amazing tutorial. These really help novices like me, and encourage people like me to start out. Thank you for creating them have a wonderful day.
Fascinating watching you. Particularly adding the sky later in the process. I've always wetted the sky area first and dropped in a mix of ultramarine and Prussian blue. Then panicking with kitchen roll.
I am enjoying your videos. I have not painted landscapes for many years and was never really taught how to handle washes when I was at school so have always been nervous of adding much water and letting the paint flow. Already in the background to my latest painting I can see a difference.
Dear Andrew, greetings from India! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience as water-colourist. I would really appreciate if you could give some tips on painting loose florals.
Happy New year Andrew, and thanks for another absorbing lesson. I plan on practising your sky technique many times before I try it `for real`. I really like the way you use those brushes, would you mind describing them, and a supplier if possible? Thanks again.
Happy new year. Thanks for getting in touch. There is a free-to-watch video which covers all my equipment, including my brushes, on my website, www.andrewpitt.co.uk Just scroll through the videos.
This series of 5 videos is great. It gives me a chance to breathe between them! I have a request, if you are looking for ideas. The sky gives me the most problems, in color and brush strokes and placement. Can you please do a video of just skies? I've painted this twice and both times my sky is the part I struggle with most. It's too big, there are too many colors, it feels anchorless because unlike the houses and trees and bushes I can't figure out where to go. Or where to stop...
Hi. I am an absolute beginner and your tutorials are helping me a lot. Thanks a lot for these tutorials. I have only one question. I have noticed that while mixing paint, you dip your brush directly into the fresh paint pots. But doesn't it pollute/ruin the fresh paint pots?
Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, you are quite right, the paint does get contaminated a bit with other colours but I hope you see that it doesn’t really matter. Too much water makes the paint hard to control. Good luck with your painting.
Dear Andrew, thank you for your efforts in putting those tutorials together, these are so educational and useful with so much insights, thank you! I absolutely admire your style and work. I am an absolute beginner but I so much like to learn to paint in watercolour. I came to realise that my biggest problem is the lack of understanding of how to use watercolour. Water vs. pigment quantity vs. quantity on the brush, etc. These are really basic topics but I was wondering if you have anything helpful for people like me :)? I must have tried maybe ten times the sky and I can't get even close to anything representing a sky. Either the wash is very light or dark or mixing badly or mixing leading to cauliflower effects.Thank you!
Many thanks for your feedback and suggestions. Your ides are very useful. Perhaps we’ll aim to focus on the problems beginners face in our next video. Thanks again - remember, watercolour can be frustrating for us all. Best wishes. Andrew
