I don't know why but I used to end up listening to this at around 12:56 am, book at bedtime was before it, I remember the tune thats playing at the beginning too, this was around 1999
Nowadays we have anyone passing the studio reading it. Most of them think they're reading a recipe and the rest cannot speak english clear enough. Bring back the BBC spoken english.
Indeed 1991 or 1996. Jenny Lane said there were warnings of gales along the south coast. Looking at 14th June 1996 we see a high pressure system over the UK. ruclips.net/video/Nvba1UAeLl4/видео.html So it was 14th June 1991.

The tune was called "Sailing" by Ronald Binge composed in 1963. I heard it so many many times at night at sea. Regards
David Miles was my favorite announcer doing the shipping forcast. His voice was so smooth and relaxing.

Poor later

Poetry
A classic. 👍
Based on the synoptic situation, could have been Friday 14 June 1985. Would that fit?
I would have been 22 that day
@@Inaflap But it didn't tell us the year, which is what I believe Stephen Saunders was asking about.
coincidentally, Storm Hector
@@Inaflap Yes, but 14th June falls on a Friday in more than one year!
beautifully old-fashioned sounding no-one uses a DAT as thumbnail
In terms of date, Jenny Lane was a BBC R4 Announcer between April 86 and May 97, therefore it would have to be either June 1991 or June 1996
Listen again... the announcer tells you the time and date of the forecast
@2:37 It's not a mystery.
You get the date but not the year so it could either be 1991 or 1996.
