    I put my cut up lettuce in the spinner, fill with water and a bit of lemon juice and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, dump the water, rinse, rinse, then spin! Keeps fresh for days!

    Hi Amy and Eric. I do the same with my lettuce too. I like to add a little fresh lemon juice as well. The salad spinners are also great for mixed greens in containers. I don't trust the triple wash quarantine so I soak them then spin them dry.

    So my cholesterol test was horrible and was told to eat more salad so your video couldn’t come at a more perfect time. I bought everything in the video so I couldn’t easily eat salad throughout the week. By the way the lettuce knife is freaking amazing.

    On iceberg lettuce. soon as i get it home i put it under water. Risen well, let drip out. Then i put into, Like 3 Walmart bags! close it up and put it in the veg bin in the refrig. Some time i can keep it, a month, some time only weeks. Depends on how fresh it is. When i used lettuce, i tear off leaves a time only! that going to be used and wrap it back up and down in the Veg bin it goes ~ few times i keep it like 3 months before it bad 👀

    I have owned those Rubbermaid fresh save for years and I love them a head of lettuce can last almost up to a month and it still crispy and fresh I put my celery and green onions tomatoes I know you’re not supposed to tomatoes in the fridge but I like them cold and an L peppers and it keeps them so beautiful

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook 3 года назад

      I think we need to try celery in one of these. Amy buys celery and doesn't use it right away (distractions?) and then you know what happens. If this can keep it crisp, then that would be wonderful. Yes, cold is supposed to 'ruin' the flavor in tomatoes. But if you like them chilled, then that's good.

    I only recently got that Oxo salad spinner. Don't know how I survived with lettuce without it! I don't have that salad container though. Normally, I just put the salad in an air tight glass container. The container is not that much, so I'll think about getting one or two.
    Also, the salad spinner is like a fun toy.

    Put those root ends in a pot and start your own. Won't grow fast enough to feed two people entirely but will always have enough for a sandwich.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook 3 года назад

      You haven't seen our hydroponics lately. How many people can you feed with lettuce seeds? But that is an interesting concept to put those root ends in a pot and see if it will grow.

    • @msdemeanorscott1855
      @msdemeanorscott1855 3 года назад

      @@EricLearnstoCook Yes, they will grow. I put them in a pot and get enough for a sandwich 1 or 2 times a week. Won't keep you in salads but then you're not paying for the start. With your hydroponic setup you might get enough to keep the two of you in salads. I have one in a little start cup on my windowsill I put Sunday and it's got two leaves popping out.

    I love my lettuce wrap meals and I ran out of bowls so I took a one gallon plastic water jug, cut it in half, some water on the bottom, put in the romaine or iceberg lettuce, and cover with a small plastic bag and refrigerate. Works and takes up less space in the refrigerator, don't you think?

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook 3 года назад +1

      I think that is what is in some of the store bought mixes we used to buy. I don't think that's a problem unless loose leaf lettuce and head lettuce have different qualities of how long they last. But I'd think the texture of the two is great.

    Hi Amy & Eric!!! I liked your video today. You gave some good tips for lettuce today I have a nice Salad Spinner but don't know where my plastic knife is. I have one I think from Tupperware. I may need to order this one. This is really a great video. Take care my dear friends ❤.

      Hi DiDi. Hope all is well. We had some sticky dark spots on the knife. Weird. Used some Goof Off and it changed the knife a bit, as if this plastic doesn't like it. So I learned to scrub harder with a scouring pad and Bar Keepers Friend (and maybe some sand paper if it needs it). But it's only plastic. Just need to keep it clean and not near anything plastic with spots. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
