I'm not an A driver, I don't practice enough or have the time, but I'm a clean B driver. The B lobbies have a far greater number of those types. I'm high enough in points to race against A drivers quite a bit, thanks to Kie and his pointers. I very rarely ever see an A driver doing anything like that even though you get bumped sometimes just through not being aware and even that is pretty rare, when it happens to me, it's normally trying to make a pass where I really shouldn't like through chicanes. Drivers like Firefly should have a way, inside the race, to report them. 3 strikes in a specified time frame and you should be out for 30 days, second time 60 days, third time account suspension. They can still get around it by opening another account with a different name, but it would cost them their fee again.
In fairness creating a new account cost nothing plus you can’t ban based off reports as they would have to have evidence or people could get banned because few people unfairly report someone etc, but let’s just say this footage got sent to the correct people 👍 so it may only be 1 driver but he may get a warning and if that helps more in future it’s good for everyone 👊
NO WAY I raced this guy two days ago and he kept spamming chat with the most ridiculous stuff, absolute nightmare. I did manage to punt him off once after all the shenanigans.
He was talking a bunch of smack in the lobby prior to both of those races so he’s probably just a hater. Nevertheless, had a blast that day racing with you and glad I finally made it into a video!
Firefly is an angry elf. It’s people like him who give our servers a bad name. It’s unfortunate because i would say the majority of the top half of A rated drivers and almost all A+ drivers on the American servers race hard, clean and respectful with the occasional over eager accident not from poor sportsmanship but just lack of skill. Daytime is always worse then the night time drivers as well.
This daytime nighttime thing I can confirm, I prefer to race late in the evening or early in the morning, or just with friends. I'm guessing this behavior has a lot to do with the age of the player, older players seem to race a lot more respectful. Though this behavior is definitely not exclusive to young people.
god yeah. I' personally still struggle a bit with spatial awareness and consistency during the race, so I won't claim I never mess up or ruin mine and someone else's race because of a mistake, but at least I try to give space when I know someone is gunning for an overtake because I don't think I have the skill to defend safely against someone much faster than me. there's a difference between having accidents while on a learning curve and being dirty or not knowing where your skill is at and eating shit
The Penalty system needs refinement. In Australia (B rank DR) each of the daily races has people brake-checking, dive-bombing, bumping their way to the podium. It may have been too harsh at launch, but this is worse.

The game should be able to know when a driver is far too late to breaking zone and either automaticallay ghost them, or just reset them. Also, if a car is penalised, and another car has been effected, then that car could be instantly returned to the same time gap behind the car it was following. There's ways around this nonsense. Even a yellow then red system. Yellow for first penalty, red is an automatic drive through. Or, another idea, incur too much time in penalties in a single race and you're timed out of daily races for an hour.
That ramming attempt near the end of the first race is exactly the kind of penalty that should result in an immediate disqualification if PD could figure a way to program it. 2 seconds for what he did, when it was clearly malicious and intentional, is a joke.
IMO I wouldn't make it an immediate ban. My thinking is that every so often a driver has a hardware issue where they may lose steering, throttle, or braking inputs. It would be a shame to get banned for a legitimate reason. However, if it happens more than once in a race I think it's safe to say it's deliberate. At that point, it warrants more extreme actions to be taken.
@@Sean_Farmer it would be extremely easy to detect a loss of steering inputs(incredibly rare btw) vs someone who’s actively trying to smash other people. I also didn’t say ban, just DQ from that race. People would shape up in a hurry if they kept getting kicked out of races for being asshats.
Pretty easy. Just see if there is a speed delta between the speeding car and the slowing car that is suspiciously too large for the corner. Then, just ghost the speeding driver and instant DQ them from the race.
The game is borderline not playable online for me. My safety rating is S but the drivers online are all toxic and dirty I haven’t gotten a single race in the past few weeks without some kind of shenanigans and I can’t enjoy the game anymore. I really hope that PD makes the penalty system far better because as it stands it’s not working and people are exploiting it.
You have to play at night when all the kids are sleeping or early in the morning. In the daytime it is indeed unplayable. If I play during the day I only play offline.
The 2 second penalty for that is ridiculous. I barely tapped a rear fender and he drifted and stayed on track but I get a 5 sec penalty!!! I really tried to avoid him
But the leader was knocked back to 5th - 5 seconds is not acceptable - if 1st place lost 20 seconds then he should have lost 25 - the only way to stamp it out is for tough penalties BUT equally the penalty system needs major surgery to be fit for purpose

This! It’s absolutely essential in B lobbies or lower. I tried ranking up my second account starting from the back every race and I was getting in so many accidents with bad drivers that my SR kept deranking me so I had to qualify and race from the pole and have boring race after boring race by myself until I got the account to an A rating.

About 2yrs ago i discovered a lobby in GTSPORT called 'King of the Ring', no penalties just pure dirty driving at its finest. I got CRUSHED for a few months but it opened up my driving style to the next lvl. I learned that there are techniques to counter ALL dirty tactics and how to use someone else's filth againt them. Im not the fastest or the best driver, but when it'll comes to dealing w a dirty driver, I will CRUSH you. So.. fight fire with fire!
There is an easy way in GT7 to get rid on these drivers. I you see these guys in the mirror press the Options Button on the wheel and you're ghosted, let him drive through and then press continue... After that he will be in the shadow room and you're fine. Is just a matter of timing, but it works...
You should have showed his childish in game chat log to let people know how unbalanced this guy is. He is one of the sweatiest wierdos i've seen on the game.

Americans can be pretty bad sometimes. Even in my friends racing group, we make fun of each other between Canada and USA drivers. Some people take it too far. NASCAR is a bad influence on a lot of drivers here.Retribution and payback is standard.
I agree, you racing Nurburging 10 laps then on the last stretch the idiot from behind rams you, then YOU end up with the 5 second penalty! That right there leaves blood in your stool.
He does this because he knows he's not as high a caliber driver as you. He knows that even with him starting at the front, and you at the back, that you can (and did) beat him on pure pace

Yes I mentioned this earlier in another comment agree, they have the data from ghost replays the top drivers so they know where the braking limits are 100%
This guy was sending ppl into boxes a month ago on Tsukuba. But I do think PD is aware of those things, but they simply don't care. That story of penalties on GT made its multiplayer better than Forza is just a fable now. I stopped multiplayer as soon as I got Platinum Trophy.

I think if there is a speed difference of more than 15kmph, the cars should ghost. Also anyone applying brakes in non braking zone if resulting in a collision should be penalized heavily. And yes, I totally agree with your point, just 1 idiot is enough to spoil the fun for everyone in that race.
Pd should put in some kind of ban system or a way to report a driver for being dirty. Not saying it has to be a permanent ban but first offense a week and it if keeps happening then it could lead to being banned permanently. Kie25 I apologize for all us Americans for you having to deal with that. Some of try to race clean and fair. But if there was a report or ban system in place I think it would clean up a lot of people's driving. Just my opinion and thoughts.
Polyphony definitely need to adjust the penalty system that includes Brake checking and more importantly side swiping ' it happen to me all the time and they do it deliberately just like firefly and don't receive a penalty 🙄
@ 5:00 you should have allowed him the corner as his fender was ahead of yours, its clearly visible. If this was the first lap, no biggie, but sometimes you need to yield. This is what most people who drive do not understand... WTF does yield mean, and why so many online players are way too aggressive and blame others for their over driving.. or aggressive behavior. In your defense you tried to give him space, he was driving the apex pushing you wide. In short, find good drivers via the forums, and get a league going. It is the most enjoyable racing you will find online. Racing the same people in a league you create will do three things. 1. racing with like-minded clean drivers 2. you get to know their driving styles 3. you have fun with less headache. On top of all that you can always expand your league for more drivers by having qualification turnouts for more clean drivers. This will also promote clean driving for others. We used to advertise when we did this on Forza with RUclips. Not sure they are up anymore, but it was fun and met some cool peeps.
Side by side racing is difficult if you don't know what you're doing, as I proved in that replay. He's much faster than me, and I don't really have the skillset for that kind of racing yet. He had every right to battle for position with me, I made the mistake and I paid for it.

There are miserably losers like FireFly in every corner of gaming. In NHL, there’s a guy named “Bolt_Upright” and he joins 6 v 6 lobbies as the goalie. He then proceeds to run to center ice and never actually play goalie. He’s been doing it for years too.

You will find such idiots online with 2 wheel racing as well, Motogp 22 and ride 4. They must be banned from all lobbies unless prove themselves with fair racing

I was thinking the dirty driver you referred to was Sebulba. It would fit his character. And I don't think him getting into you at the beginning was an accident by any means. It looked deliberate to me.
GT should add report functionality - with ability to attach clip. Add consequences beyond just in race penalty - perhaps race bans for online races which escalate the more infractions are done. Eventually either behave or get put out. Seems like a solved problem honestly. Just needs some attention from the developer.
Agree I love racing with everyone on my channel not just EU drivers and my connection is actually better than some people in US, I won’t stop as we had amazing racing last night on US server.

I am just getting back into Gran Turismo and it is players like this that keep me from fully enjoying the online races but fortunately there are more players who are respectful and yes in the lower lobbies you do have some players that are will push you off intentionally but I find most of the time it is because they are unaware that you are there rather than trying to push you out of the way
I watched this when you live streamed it. It was both funny and sad at the same time. I just can't understand why people get so triggered, especially when all it takes is to just get passed by someone.
This was extra ridiculous because that Firefly guy specifically was targeting him in the second race like he did him something wrong when he never did anything to him. I had things like this when i accidentally had a collision or made a mistake and took someone out etc and they target me but at i kind of damaged their race even if i didn't do anything out of ill will. But when you aren't even doing anything to the other guy and just wants revenge simply for being passed is quite extra ludicrous.

I get so nervous when someone is my up my chuff/I try to stay out of their line just in case and then they bump me anyway! Penalty system is rubbish at present.
i too have not the time to practice racing 24h a day, so i still in A, sometimes B. i always try to race clean, but in all races i do there are many dirty drivers who make it hard to race till end.
Any MMO type of game requires only ONE bad player to ruin the fun for everyone else in many game modes. We have seen it all, been there most likely and we all know the drill by now, find a way to deal with the problem. Just make sure that you don't make it anyone elses problem when your approach is (understandable tbh) counter attack, be it with skill or his their own weapons.
I notice a lot of my US (peeps)drive like D-bags unfortunatley, sucks because alot of us are trying to get better. I feel like every time I enter a lobby for practice I get kicked out just because of my flag 😌

I always find that it's more fun sometimes when people play like this, especially in Forza. Just something different once in a while. We all get the heavy cars in Forza 4 and try to survive lol.
I recently started the online Sport to get the Platinum finishing 50 online races and I’ve had great fun in the Euro servers flying up to AS but then hitting that glass ceiling and being more consistent in BS. I’ve had brilliant and very fair races 90% of the time so far but there’s always a race in every handful where someone can carefully sabotage you. Thankfully not to this prick’s extent, but just enough to ruin my race without picking up even a half second penalty themselves. We’ll see if I continue it once that 50th race finish trophy pops…!
Firefly is clearly so desperate for some kind of attention. Honestly the best kind of retaliation you can give these guys is none at all because they just start kicking and screaming more and more until they get deranked. Yea it sucks for the people down below but with the way the game is and not banning dirty drivers like Firefly, someone is going to suffer anywhere in the bracket
Implementing a massive penalty for brake test in a straight line or by completely missing a braking point... Come on PD, that cannot be a big matter to develop. Put the AI skills into making the lobbies nice and clean. In my opinion, nothing is better than a fair battle. Whatever the position, you can get some pretty good fights that you'll enjoy a lot with opponents showing good respect. That's simple as that.
Problem with missing your breaking point is if you react to someone breaking really early you get one aswell. I dont think its that easy as everyone makes it out to be.
I’d like to see the AI being able to identify and penalize the classic dive bomb down the inside, using the car you’re passing as a brake to make the corner, while punting them off.
I agree they surely could detect the latest possible braking points set in TT and maybe say if no braking attempted by few yards after that with hit then penalty maybe, who knows I can imagine it being very complicated.
I think it’s simpler than that, you just need to look at the car in fronts speed and penalise the closing speed difference. Especially if you factor acceleration and deceleration. Not rocket science. Regardless of braking points you brake to not hit the thing in front of you or to make the corner. If there is no attempt to close the speed differential then it’s a penalty either you are deliberately trying or so inattentive. Same thing really on a race track penalty wise.

yeah B lobbies are very hard to get fair racing, and so hard to get to A because of it.

Yes maybe 1 day I’ll stay up late and try out later although had great stream on USA yesterday so can be good earlier also

About 2yrs ago i discovered a lobby in GTSPORT called 'King of the Ring', no penalties just pure dirty driving at its finest. I got CRUSHED for a few months but it opened up my driving style to the next lvl. I learned that there are techniques to counter ALL dirty tactics and how to use someone else's filth againt them. Im not the fastest or the best driver, but when it'll comes to dealing w a dirty driver, I will CRUSH you. So.. fight fire with fire!

There is an easy way in GT7 to get rid on these drivers. I you see these guys in the mirror press the Options Button on the wheel and you're ghosted, let him drive through and then press continue...
After that he will be in the shadow room and you're fine.
Is just a matter of timing, but it works...

Americans can be pretty bad sometimes. Even in my friends racing group, we make fun of each other between Canada and USA drivers. Some people take it too far. NASCAR is a bad influence on a lot of drivers here.Retribution and payback is standard.

What I will say is the good racing is more common than the bad still at least for my lobbies so I still love GT

He does this because he knows he's not as high a caliber driver as you. He knows that even with him starting at the front, and you at the back, that you can (and did) beat him on pure pace

The game should be able to register a brake and contact in a zone that is clearly not usual and give an instant dq. 5 seconds isn’t enough for some of these plebs.
Yes I mentioned this earlier in another comment agree, they have the data from ghost replays the top drivers so they know where the braking limits are 100%
This guy was sending ppl into boxes a month ago on Tsukuba. But I do think PD is aware of those things, but they simply don't care. That story of penalties on GT made its multiplayer better than Forza is just a fable now. I stopped multiplayer as soon as I got Platinum Trophy.

I think if there is a speed difference of more than 15kmph, the cars should ghost. Also anyone applying brakes in non braking zone if resulting in a collision should be penalized heavily. And yes, I totally agree with your point, just 1 idiot is enough to spoil the fun for everyone in that race.
Pd should put in some kind of ban system or a way to report a driver for being dirty. Not saying it has to be a permanent ban but first offense a week and it if keeps happening then it could lead to being banned permanently. Kie25 I apologize for all us Americans for you having to deal with that. Some of try to race clean and fair. But if there was a report or ban system in place I think it would clean up a lot of people's driving. Just my opinion and thoughts.

Had a dude on the Euro servers do this to me, annoyingly I got a penalty when he brake checked me!
Doesn’t surprise me seems the game is not able to realise a brake check for some weird reason as GT sport actually could.
Polyphony definitely need to adjust the penalty system that includes Brake checking and more importantly side swiping ' it happen to me all the time and they do it deliberately just like firefly and don't receive a penalty 🙄
Yes it’s very hard I can imagine to get a good system as nobody wants that ultra sensitive system we had on GT Sport that was horrible.
@ 5:00 you should have allowed him the corner as his fender was ahead of yours, its clearly visible. If this was the first lap, no biggie, but sometimes you need to yield. This is what most people who drive do not understand... WTF does yield mean, and why so many online players are way too aggressive and blame others for their over driving.. or aggressive behavior. In your defense you tried to give him space, he was driving the apex pushing you wide.
In short, find good drivers via the forums, and get a league going. It is the most enjoyable racing you will find online. Racing the same people in a league you create will do three things. 1. racing with like-minded clean drivers 2. you get to know their driving styles 3. you have fun with less headache. On top of all that you can always expand your league for more drivers by having qualification turnouts for more clean drivers. This will also promote clean driving for others. We used to advertise when we did this on Forza with RUclips. Not sure they are up anymore, but it was fun and met some cool peeps.
Side by side racing is difficult if you don't know what you're doing, as I proved in that replay. He's much faster than me, and I don't really have the skillset for that kind of racing yet.
He had every right to battle for position with me, I made the mistake and I paid for it.

There are miserably losers like FireFly in every corner of gaming. In NHL, there’s a guy named “Bolt_Upright” and he joins 6 v 6 lobbies as the goalie. He then proceeds to run to center ice and never actually play goalie. He’s been doing it for years too.
Hey the kie 25 I understand about your pain in the daily racing courses are becoming more than an issued this is a very bad example and a poor sign of sportsmanship and it's very unfair and I just do hope polyphony does get the message on the board we need a better penalty system in Gran Turismo 7 just keep a positive attitude in racing and set an example for all drivers out there.

You will find such idiots online with 2 wheel racing as well, Motogp 22 and ride 4. They must be banned from all lobbies unless prove themselves with fair racing
Does anyone know how to report user in GT7, SPECIFICALLY comments in pre/post race lobby chat please? I've tried quite hard to locate this function but am unable. I quite often come across some rather unsavory characters who we're all better off without.

I was thinking the dirty driver you referred to was Sebulba. It would fit his character. And I don't think him getting into you at the beginning was an accident by any means. It looked deliberate to me.
GT should add report functionality - with ability to attach clip. Add consequences beyond just in race penalty - perhaps race bans for online races which escalate the more infractions are done. Eventually either behave or get put out. Seems like a solved problem honestly. Just needs some attention from the developer.
I enjoy when you all come to the American servers, especially during our mid day. Only chance my B rated slow driving ass gets to play with you.

I am just getting back into Gran Turismo and it is players like this that keep me from fully enjoying the online races but fortunately there are more players who are respectful and yes in the lower lobbies you do have some players that are will push you off intentionally but I find most of the time it is because they are unaware that you are there rather than trying to push you out of the way
I watched this when you live streamed it. It was both funny and sad at the same time. I just can't understand why people get so triggered, especially when all it takes is to just get passed by someone.
This was extra ridiculous because that Firefly guy specifically was targeting him in the second race like he did him something wrong when he never did anything to him.
I had things like this when i accidentally had a collision or made a mistake and took someone out etc and they target me but at i kind of damaged their race even if i didn't do anything out of ill will.
But when you aren't even doing anything to the other guy and just wants revenge simply for being passed is quite extra ludicrous.

We used to kick those people off, then blast their names all over the forums on the Dirty driver's list....
I get so nervous when someone is my up my chuff/I try to stay out of their line just in case and then they bump me anyway! Penalty system is rubbish at present.

i too have not the time to practice racing 24h a day, so i still in A, sometimes B.
i always try to race clean, but in all races i do there are many dirty drivers who make it hard to race till end.
Any MMO type of game requires only ONE bad player to ruin the fun for everyone else in many game modes.
We have seen it all, been there most likely and we all know the drill by now, find a way to deal with the problem.
Just make sure that you don't make it anyone elses problem when your approach is (understandable tbh) counter attack, be it with skill or his their own weapons.

I always find that it's more fun sometimes when people play like this, especially in Forza. Just something different once in a while. We all get the heavy cars in Forza 4 and try to survive lol.

I recently started the online Sport to get the Platinum finishing 50 online races and I’ve had great fun in the Euro servers flying up to AS but then hitting that glass ceiling and being more consistent in BS. I’ve had brilliant and very fair races 90% of the time so far but there’s always a race in every handful where someone can carefully sabotage you. Thankfully not to this prick’s extent, but just enough to ruin my race without picking up even a half second penalty themselves. We’ll see if I continue it once that 50th race finish trophy pops…!
Firefly is clearly so desperate for some kind of attention. Honestly the best kind of retaliation you can give these guys is none at all because they just start kicking and screaming more and more until they get deranked. Yea it sucks for the people down below but with the way the game is and not banning dirty drivers like Firefly, someone is going to suffer anywhere in the bracket

Implementing a massive penalty for brake test in a straight line or by completely missing a braking point... Come on PD, that cannot be a big matter to develop. Put the AI skills into making the lobbies nice and clean.
In my opinion, nothing is better than a fair battle. Whatever the position, you can get some pretty good fights that you'll enjoy a lot with opponents showing good respect. That's simple as that.
Problem with missing your breaking point is if you react to someone breaking really early you get one aswell.
I dont think its that easy as everyone makes it out to be.
I’d like to see the AI being able to identify and penalize the classic dive bomb down the inside, using the car you’re passing as a brake to make the corner, while punting them off.
I agree they surely could detect the latest possible braking points set in TT and maybe say if no braking attempted by few yards after that with hit then penalty maybe, who knows I can imagine it being very complicated.
I think it’s simpler than that, you just need to look at the car in fronts speed and penalise the closing speed difference. Especially if you factor acceleration and deceleration.
Not rocket science. Regardless of braking points you brake to not hit the thing in front of you or to make the corner. If there is no attempt to close the speed differential then it’s a penalty either you are deliberately trying or so inattentive. Same thing really on a race track penalty wise.
