Welcome to Our French Chateau!
We are Amanda and Lincoln. With our two daughters and pets in tow, we moved across the world from our home in San Francisco California to buy and restore a petite chateau on 40 acres in the beautiful French countryside of Brittany.
Our channel will document our triumphs and failures in restoring the 19th-century Chateau de Lingourdy. We plan on returning the gardens, cottages and barns back to their former glory (on a tight budget) and opening it up to the public for events and luxurious stays. So if you're interested in observing daily life through the eyes of an American family whose French language skills are quite lacking and who have amassed a menagerie that includes cats, dogs, and donkeys, please join us...
I love the wreaths. They are wild and fluffy. Just perfect.
The wreaths look amazing. You are probably, like most creative people, your own worst critic.
😂
💕Such a lovely town!! Beautifully decorated & very festive with all the fairy lights!!😍
Hello 👋how are you doing?
I can't tell you how I enjoy your yt videos and your humour! I hope Mimi continues to improve, she's a cutie. As for the wreaths, so festive!
Wonderful job on the wreaths! Village is beautifully decorated!
Living in Northern Australia I have no experience in heating so a fire and a tank full of fuel really makes me very nervous, however I am sure you are very experienced in these matters. We know all about keeping cool and not using too much electricity to do so. You did a lovely job on the wreaths...well done. The village and the decorations are just lovely, what we Australians dream Christmas to be in Europe.
The visited small town was a delight! Don’t beat yourself up because your wreaths WORKED!
Aww bless your little girl cat Mimi. That’s so sweet. Praying for her recovery. I too have 5 cats & 2 dogs. But now you will have 6 cats, so you got me beat.
I'm dreaming of a White Christmas.....
One of the most original outdoor decorations I have seen in France was while taking the RER commuter train north of Paris to IKEA near CDG Roissy airport...they'd wrapped different sized boxes in reds, greens and gold stripes with big bows, the boxes were 15 square or 45cm...the paper and ribbon was metallic and the home close enough to the train that the lights in the cabins lit up the decor beautifully, those were just leafless trees, not ever greens, really delightful where as the few houses that had some decor was a single or double strand of lights and nothing more....
The Wreaths are beautiful...very natural...the holly x with the greens makes them even more rustic...
Wreaths are beautiful… good job 😊
Nice town… festive with the lights and decorations ❤
Hello 👋how’re you doing?
Absolutely magical! Thank you Amanda & Lincoln for sharing. 🎅🤶🎄✴
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the time in town! How beautiful!❤
The town visit was just beautiful thank you
Hello 👋how’re you doing?
I just discovered your channel and think it's great that you are giving us some practical info and numbers on how you are heating the château! It's important to also see the hurdles or downsides of "the dream". Also love your cats! ☺️
The wreaths were perfect.
I like your wreaths. Just sad some color and they will be very festive ❤️
The wreaths look great to me. Next year you will be better prepared and supplied assuming of course your interested still. Trust me I am no critic and still learning as I go which most times requires practice. I love your wreathed as they are.
The price of oil in Newfoundland is even more expensive.
That was a nice tour with all the lights and shops. Glad to see Mimi is doing well.
Such a beautiful town. Highly recommend staying at La tour… Neapolitan room! Bliss!
The wreaths are beautiful!
Your wreaths are beautiful.
"I'm not very crafty" says Amanda whose renovating a 17th century Chateau 😼. Amanda give yourself some credit. Your audience certainly does.
I know this is an old video BUT I also tried wreath making, I was ashamed. I switched to making hanging swags, just making an upside down bouquet with the limbs and stems and securing with wire and putting a big floppy bow to hide the wire:) Maybe next year!
Love the wreaths, they are wonderful. I have fake this year but make have made very similar in the past from greenery growing on our property. What a lovely hill top town right out of a postcard! Merry Christmas from USA, Virginia!
You Did A Great Job With The Wreaths. I Am So Enjoying Your Adventures. 😉
They look very good!! Keep at it
I like the wreaths ! You did well❤❤❤
Finally up to date with all your video's. I'm having so much fun.
Your wreaths are beautiful! That is an idyllic Christmas town. 🥰
I love your wreaths…they look beautiful on the front doors….enjoyed the Christmas lights in the village…You are both very ambitious and fun to watch..🥂😊
Love your fluffy and beautiful natural wreaths ! Happy Holidays 🎄
New subscriber here‼️‼️. Ooooh I loved how real you are and your wreaths were perfect 🎄. Heading to watch your other videos❤️💚🎄
Thanks so much! 😊
i love the wreaths. maybe some small battery operated lights?
I really enjoy your videos. You are your own worst critic. The wreaths are full and beautiful. Hope you had a cup of something warm when you went inside. That town was beautiful, and charming and I definitely want to visit it next time I’m in France. xx
Lucky Cat. I bet many of us could be adopted into your home and area xo you both. All beautiful
Merry Christmas!
Really enjoy your channel.
Love your cats and I hope Mimi comes right soon . Your home made wreaths look just fine . U could just add a red ribbon to give more colour but they look better then any brought ones I've seen . Thanks for the video .
Suggestion; use Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree music, made famous by the Andrews Sisters, as your theme song for anything associated with your apple trees. You could even lip-sync it. I wonder if there is a French version? Nice vid, BTW. Thanks for sharing.
Zip ties and make branches smaller put them into bundles
Great idea
Sounds like a great heating system
LOVELY video!!!!
Hello from uk came across your channel tonight I so enjoyed it so definitely sub to your channel
Thanks so much!
Wreathes look great! If I made them I would require to stand back, don’t touch or move them otherwise they fall short of expectations. Ha. Ah your kids are young, totally understand why they aren’t in the videos. Wish we had towns like that in CA, pretty! Cheers Kirk
Bellissima 👍👍👍👍👍 friend
Next year just make swags.
😊😊
You have mentioned you have two daughters. Where are they? Is it intentional that you don’t have them in your vlogs?
For sure
They’re teens and don’t want to be filmed right now..,
Your vlogs are the best, so charming & enjoyable to watch, they’re very entertaining & adorable, especially the content of the animals, so pleased you added this extra one 🥰
Glad you like them!
I completely agree.
I think your wreaths are lovely! And this stroll through Rochefort en Terre was magical, thank you✨✨✨
Although very touristy, Rochefort en Terre is one of my favorite villages in Brittany and at Christmas time it’s lovely. ❤
What a beautiful little town. Just magical! Wreaths look great!
Don't sell yourself short, your wreaths are lovely! And they have more meaning than store bought because not only did you make them with your own hands, most everything came from your land. I like that you gave props to artsy people because a lot of people who aren't makers have no idea all that goes into creating things like this. The lights of the town are beautiful, thank you for sharing that with us!
Beautiful. Your floral talents are in your DNA, obviously. My mother was a talented crafty artist and she would say there is nothing more beautiful than a plain wreath of greenery. Thank you for sharing your home. 🇺🇲
I love the care that you provide for the animals & I think your wreaths are lovely.🥰
3:34pm-Your wreaths are perfect! Well done…. God bless you for the care you give your animals and the town is very pretty with the lights and decorations. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I love your straight forward, unpretentious commentary about life in your manor house. Your obvious love for all the animals is exemplary!! Always look forward to each new video.
Yes, i agree!
They seem very likeable!
I've gotten a bit sick of the average English commoner going over and buying an ugly chateau and then acting like royalty in it and begging their viewers for money to fund their lifestyle!
it's all gotten a bit tiresome, but this couple seem really nice, their building is lovely, and they don't seem like grifters at all!
My kind of wreaths. What a beautiful village you visited and the Christmas lights gorgeous. Wonderful architecture in Brittany.
Hi how are you doing?
Enzo is the happiest 3 legged dog I’ve ever seen❤
The wreaths look beautiful!! Oh and how charming that little village was.. So storybook!!!
Hi how are you doing?
OMG, you crack me up with your somewhat off handed “Happy Holidays” wreath making final comment. I understand and I know how you feel; I’ve been there, too, more than once…love your channel. Both you and hubby are real survivors and I admire your perseverance. You’re both winners. Watching from PA, USA.
Omg, that little town looks amazing, postcard picturesque! I could feel your frustration with the wreaths all the way here to Florida! I think they look great! Surprised that you can't find them to buy? That could be your side hustle!😊
Золотко ты наше, спасибо тебе, что заботишься о безногой собаке. Низкий тебе поклон.
If there are dead or dying vines around you could use that to wrap around the pine boughs. I'm sure your doing better than you think you are..
best wishes to you, thank you for the vlog
Thanks for the update. The animals are well cared for and happy. And the wreaths look great.
The wreaths are beautiful and love seeing all the animals. Happy to hear Mimi is doing well. What beautifully decorated village. Truly magical and festive. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Hi 👋how are you doing?
You’re like me. I work with what I have. I surprise myself❤️😎🎅🏻🇺🇸
Hello how’re you doing?
Girl, your wreaths are gorgeous! That look wonderful on your doors!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year!🎄🎁❄️⛄️🪅🎊
So you can make your own wreath base by foraging for long vines - like ivy or grapevines. Just keep wrapping them round and secure with thin wire. Then you can poke pine branches into it and even reuse them every year!
For someone who says she is not a crafty person, those wreaths of yours came out beautifully, just how they should look, loved the snippets of the animals and town. Happy holidays!
Was looking forward to the bathroom update! How is it going?? Wreathes look mega, keep up the decorating. Any chance we’re going to see Christmas lights on the Chateau?
Your wreaths are lovely, Amanda! Thank you for the beautiful, lighted town tour✨. Can see Mimi is hunkered down in healing mode🐾🐾.
A chateau wood boiler is probably a very different animal than house sized wood stove. We heated solely with a wood stove for many years. A large log added before bed each night and the damper turned down left a bed of coals for morning kindling. How I miss wood heat and the beauty of the flames. Not the mess though! The only time we had fussy fire building, maintaining was when the wood wasn’t dry enough. We mostly bought our wood because we went through so much each year. Where we were, oak was our choice, seasoned two years before burning and cedar for kindling. Unless there is issue with the venting on the stove itself, I’m wondering if Lincoln’s wood may just not be totally dried out.
You did a great job with the wreaths in the end but I understand your frustration, I am not very crafty either! Loved the music during the Rochefort footage, happy and light-hearted. Thanks!
I think your wreaths look wonderful on the doors! If you would like to watch a video on wreath making, Laura, from Garden Answer, has a helpful RUclips. If you put together small bunches first then attach them with 22 gauge paddle wire it makes it so much easier. There is also a spray, Wilt Stop, that helps the greenery stay fresh. Good Luck, your father would be proud!
I like her videos! I fell asleep watching the wreath episode 😬
I love your wreaths! Dad would be proud. ❤
Are you heating your home with Lincoln Logs? :) Love your videos and hope to follow in your footsteps soon. From Northern IL., USA
😂
Good job on the wreaths they are the kind I like.🌲🌲
Your wreaths looked great !!!
What a beautiful village Rochefort en Terre is .
I liked your wreaths❤
what blinky christmas town and the last impression of chateau is so wonderful
Hi how are you doing?
I love your wreaths! I think you’re just spoofing us! You’ve got talent🎄🥰🇨🇦
They are perfect, they really suit the doors.
The wreath is super sized lovely
“I gotta hand it to crafty people. I don’t know how you do it. Happy holidays” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love your videos.
I love the wreaths, natural and fluffy my style, well done ❤🇬🇧
I couldn't have done a better job creating a wreath, you are awesome,,love love your video ❤, Happy holidays from Texas USA 🤠☃️🎅🤶🧑🎄
Hi! Wreaths are so nice to make yourself. I make my bases from fresh bendy willow branches, woven in circles (practice a bit, than it’s easy). Than you can tie on your branches of eucalyptus, ivy, rosemary, bay, dried hydrangeas (from the garden) with natural string. Tadaaa! You made a totally natural and compostable wreath!! After Christmas you could revamp your wreath to a lovely spring one. Strip it to the base, cover it with moss (from the garden) and add sping bulbs (small narcissus, crocus, muscari) under the moss (leave the back without moss, to preserve your doors). Tie everything again with natural string.
Oases is soooooo bad for the environment. Totally made of microplastics. It’s awful and should be banned! Even the ‘natural’ one, because it’s not!
Thanks for making such lovely vlogs!
You are an amazing couple. No one would laugh at you. I applaud your efforts and accomplishments.❤️
Btw, I love that you choose a lot of Baroque background music
I laugh and guffaw each time you say it’s really cold when there is green grass everywhere! Really cold is -35C and snow up to your waist! Ha ha! Think I’ll move from Canada to Brittany.
Thank you so much for sharing. Your wreath looks very beautiful. They are "Handmade". Thank you for taking us for a sightseeing tour to see the Christmas Lights. Love and Blessings to you all.

The "kids" looks pretty tall - maybe you sometime can touch on all your different difficulties settling in to life in France - it can`t have been easy.
Especially for two teenage girls with a life - school and friends in SF CA USA - and then suddenly to be uprooted and placed in a very rural French speaking France
in a big old building down a "20 mile long" driveway surrounded by fields and forest - Bet that`ll interest a bunch of your viewers....
You already said your "kids" do not want to take part in moms/dads RUclips project - maybe black out their faces and distort their voices while
you get their side of the whole ordeal - like they are in real DEA witness protection - lol - or maybe you can tell their side.
I just came across your video and I really liked you both!
Some of these Chateau channels have become a "bit "dome a dozen" and "changing rooms" with their tacky cheap fixes, and some of the owners aren't the most likeable, but I really found your video refreshing!
You both seem humble but likeable- every one would like someone like you as their neighbour, and the style in which you shot the video with nice B-roll was entertaining and pleasant to watch!
Looking forwards to seeing more!
I think your Wreaths are beautiful! Happy Holidlays!...................Tammy
Amanda, I'd take your handmade wreaths from foraged greens off your own land over plastic mistletoe and fake programmable twinkly lights any day! Embrace their uniqueness - and ask Santa for some warm fluffy boots!
And another question, what is the average temperature in the chateau, during the Winter, using the oil and wood heating method?❤️🇺🇸
Please be careful with the European mistletoe is very poisonous to both animals and humans. Wreaths are lovely, but when I visit I’ll show you how to do it. LoL Wiring the limbs on instead of poking them in works much better. Those greens will stay for weeks . Twine works as well as wire. You don’t even need the forms. European Christmas ‘s are just so magical.
I thought your wreaths looked beautiful, and France looked gorgeous with all the Christmas lights. This has been my favorite video.
