I never tire of listening to Rosie. I find her honesty so refreshing, just like good therapy. This interview is one of her best. Rosie is incredibly talented. I'm delighted to hear she's satisfied with her accomplishments, and isn't longing to do something more, more, more. I wish I could have helped her with her clothing back in the day. We might have been good together, since I've helped so many others. So glad the Rosie Show clips are appearing on RUclips. I've seen them in my Feed, and I've enjoyed them. Rosie was amazing in that job. I also loved when she took over for Piers Morgan on CNN for some brief spots.

I love this interview, a lot of information, good listening skills and being prepared with questions for Rosie. I remember the Tom Selleck interview on Rosie's show, I think that unfortunately contributed to. Rosie's decision to leave her show. Now that Ellen has also decided to end her show, we need another strong lesbian host to fill the void.

Jess, the story of the recording of "This Used To Be My Playground" deserves an entire movie!
That story is one of the most iconic in modern music.
When she arrived they had to rearrange the orchestra.
She supposedly sang that song just once because she ran out of time and did not want to pay the entire orchestra for another hour.

Great video, I just like you Jess I am a gay New York Jew ..only I’m from the Bronx originally, and although I agree with Rosies take about us being very affectionate and straightforward, I did not grow up with a swimming pool or a white leather couch… LOL I grew up in a very poor area in the melting part of the Bronx, Like Rosie I lost my dad right before my seventh birthday of cancer, I know it was her mother that she lost, and my mom worked 55 years in a dry cleaning store to make ends meet… So no leather couches or swimming pools for us… LOL..BUT the best childhood you could ever imagine…

The Rosie O'Donnell show was on from 3-4 in my market, I had my vcr set to tape it every day so I could catch it when I got home from high school. (Full disclosure, this also furnishes one a window to catch the tail end of Guiding Light with grandma.) That show was just a whole ass vibe, now that I am grown up and came out, it is so cool to know there were even more layers of gay influence and voices. I'm sure this was part of he magic that made the show so appealing and inviting for me, but Rosie nailed it, everything was sub rosa in those days. (I wound up coming out and having to move out at age 18 in 98. Different times indeed.) This was a superb interview, thanks both for sharing your time. Rosie is priceless.

Hey Jess! I was introduced to you through Ash, and so grateful that I was. You are such a pro. I have seen so many interviews, esp on social media, where the person does not know ANYTHING about who they are interviewed (example, interviewing the Wilson Sisters of Heart and not knowing that "the blonde" does vocals for These Dreams...WTF) Anyway...I'm old...in my 50's, and Rosie has been a HUGE part of my life. I watched her when she was a VJ. Her show was SO AMAZING. I think I missed 4 episodes, that was when the power was out, ad the VCR did not record. My daughter grew up watching her with me, for Christmas one year, my kid got ME the Rosie Barbie. Anyway. Back to being OLD, I have never been into podcasts, I am more a visual person, and when I am in the car I listen to music, but since seeing you on Ash's show, I have played several of your pod casts in the car. This was the first. Today, RUclips recomended it to me...possible because I have been playing A LOT of "gay music" and watching LGBTQ+ short films on here. So, it has been a while since hearing it, but watching it, for me, I get SO MUCH more out of it. I LOVE to see the faces of those asking and answering the questions. Meeting Rosie, or at least seeing her live (wish she would tour doing stand up again,) is on my bucket list. She was basicially forced to come out...but when she did, she was "America's Sweetheart" "The Queen of Nice" that had been in MILLIONS of American homes 5 days a week...many of them conservitive housewifes...IT MADE A HUGE IMPACT for our community. Rosie's responce to the Kathy G and Roseanne things, I agree with...I read KG say the pic was what people were thinking, and it was symbolic...but most people can not see something like that as symbolic, it brings up real feelings of terrorism, I wish she had been able to take it down, I wish she had appoligised to those people who did not get her meaning, and NOT to Trump, and I think she was put through the ringer by Trump...and terriozed, which was uncalled for. Rosie also said exactly what I thought about Rosanne. She had said in SO many interviews that the reason she left the biz was because of her mental health. She had a horrible breakdown while shooting Rosanne, you can see it, those episodes after she seems to always be looking up, this was when the had a REALLY dark tan. I know so many people who were outraged by things she did when the show came back, things that could be considered racist and antisemitic, which I do not think she is, but I do think she NEVER should have come back. Because of her health. I wish that you could stream Rosie's talk show in it's entirety. If WB had a streaming site (which it's looking like ALL movie/TV studios will have their own soon.) It was so much fun. She is so talented and she is SO OPEN about her personal life. I have commented many times on her Insta, when she talks about her youngest being Autistic. She has shown toys or activities that she is using, which I then find and order for my nephew, who is the same age. Everyone who has met her, says she is just so nice. She used to have contests to win a trip to NY and be in her audience...I never won. The closest I've been to her was when she would visit Martha in West Virginia.
As much as I LOVE Rosie, and Whoopi, I have not been able to watch The View. It makes my blood pressure go up. I have watched it when a celeb that I love it on, but I can't stand the bitch session at the beginning, that so many people love. I really tried when Rosie was on...but the girl who was on Survivor made ne NUTS!
I lover Rosie's candor and how relaxed she was with answering your questions.
I really love that your questions were not the same questions everyone else asks. I LOVED that about Melissa Etheridge and the other interviews I have listened to. Great job. Such a great listen, even the second time around! Happy Pride, BTW!

So good to hear Rosie say those things about money! I've always felt that way with the wealthy..like how much money is enough?? Greed takes over to me ....be cause to be able to be home with your kids is priceless ......
