Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the German metal heroes GAMMA RAY decided to do a Live Streaming Event in 2020 and set up a big stage in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, on August 27. On their upcoming masterpiece “30 YEARS LIVE ANNIVERSARY”, the band would like to invite all of you to join their exclusive and only show in 2020 which has been streamed to all fans all over the globe. On September 10, This extraordinary show will be released as a double live album on both audio and video via earMUSIC.

GAMMA RAY from Hamburg, Germany, have delivered impressive statements of their own musical philosophy to the worldwide heavy metal community for more than thirty years by now. Founded and fronted by Kai Hansen after his departure from the famous German power metal band Helloween, GAMMA RAY recorded eleven studio albums between 1989 and 2015. Besides Dirk Schlächter (bass), Henjo Richter (guitar), Michael Ehré (drums) and Frank Beck (vocals), Hansen is the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter.
The expressive power of the band’s music is reflected in their energetic live shows. There’s hardly a renowned metal festival where GAMMA RAY haven’t rocked the crowds, hardly an international magazine which hasn’t featured at least one GAMMA RAY title story.
On the band’s upcoming live album called “30 YEARS LIVE ANNIVERSARY”, GAMMA RAY would like to invite all of you to join once more the party of their exclusive and only show in 2020. In this time of Covid-19, the band was not able to play shows like they wanted to, so they decided to do a Live Streaming Event and set up a big stage in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany. This awesome event took place on Thursday, August 27th and was streamed to all fans all over the globe.
Several cameras had recorded the very best of power metal with guest keyboard player Corvin Bahn & former (and first!!) GAMMA RAY singer Ralf Scheepers as a very special guest! This amazing live stream show will be released as a double live album on both audio and video on September 10th, 2021 via earMUSIC. Due to Covid, this concert - as you can imagine - took place without an audience. This is why GAMMA RAY decided to invite the fans to send in recordings of screaming, hailing and whistling to their favourite GAMMA RAY songs, which will be added to the end of the show and gives fans the chance to participate on this release!
“30 YEARS LIVE ANNIVERSARY” is going to be out September 10 2021 as 2-CD Digipak + DVD, as 3xLP on black vinyl (+ Blu-ray in some countries), and digital. Furthermore, there will be a limited edition 3xLP on coloured vinyl (+ Blu-ray). Each of the three LPs is going to be pressed on a different vinyl colour.

Kai Hansen is a sacred monster of power metal. In my opinion, he is the greatest exponent of power metal globally speaking. An excellent musician and masterful composer and creator of the greatest power metal anthems. I've always been his fan and always will be.

Chords are almost the same, you sing both with the same chords. I often play it on guitar and switch from one chorus to another.

'' You forgot that there were a few die hard Gamma Ray fans, who paid a lot of money to attend that show. I think most of the attendees felt left out at that show, and now also on the live stuff apparantly (still enjoyed it ;-) ) , but it is what it is. Will still support and buy though :-)

Kai (if you even read the comments etc), the Helloween Reunion and the new album are great things (even Historical) but don't leave Gamma Ray so far behind!!! We like Ray stuff equally to Helloween! Actually MORE than Helloween! ;)
What a pity that Kiske did not do the lead vocals on this dvd, for example this song with him would sound like a good old Helloween from 80´s!!! Or Ralph Scheepers would be perfect because last ten year he sings really in a great way, mainly when he uses his melodic voice colour such as e. g. in all the guest songs.

Disappointing that the bluray is only available together with a useless vinyl. The cd version only has a DVD!? And there is no standalone bluray available!
Why is the Bluray only included with the vinyl editions? That makes no sense. Would have bought a CD+Bluray bundle but now I'll not buy anything at all from this release because there is no way I can get the bluray without also getting useless (for me) vinyl editions.

Congrats, Kai! For the humility, and for thinking in the quality of the vocals instead of the ego. And the two vocals, along with the rest of the backing vocals, sounds pretty damn good

I just heard about Frank for the first time today when I watched the 30 year Live version of Heading for Tomorrow with Ralph and Frank. I thought, damn, that guest vocalist is killing it!
Ralph is an amazing vocalist, but I prefer Kai's re-recorded versions. I respect both of them.
Quick Google search later, I find out he's the new vocalist. My first thought was...awesome! Not WTF, especially when I read Kai's reasoning shortly after.
Life happens, people's abilities can fade or be lost entirely, kudos to Kai for wanting to keep his vocal abilities as much as he can. Plus, he isn't stopping entirely.

@@Metallian81 Shame on you for disrespecting fans having different opinions than yourself! Kai Hansen's unique voice and vocals is an important reason why very many of us actually ARE fans of Gamma Ray and Helloween. Kai Hansen himself should respect that too!
That song is truly a masterpiece but to me it doesn't sound right with Frank on vocals. No disrespect to Frank, the guy is clearly a good singer. I also understand why the band brought him on board. Franks voice just doesn't appeal to me. That said it's great that Gamma Ray are still around, bringing metal to the masses.

Frank's vocals sound rather low on this mix, to be fair to him. I think he would sound a lot better here if mixed with more similar levels to the original.
@@karawapo I find the bass drums a litte too loud for my taste but to me the mix isn't the problem with the vocals. I can hear Frank clearly all the time.

When I was 11 in 1985, the Walls of Jericho Speed Metal World opened for me (his departure Halloween died for me). Kai Hansen is a Speed Metal God, and without Hansen, speed metal would not be what it is. Here is not a guy to define this music so fundamentally. Kai Hansen is Speed Metal W. A. Mozart. His sense of building a composition, musicality, work with melody, internal tension in songs is inimitable and uniquely Hansens...
