It's a Cinderella fairytale about judging books by their covers. It's the same theme many of the short drarmas taking a slightly different approach. Not bad. The FL is very likeable.
I understand being overweight is not always attractive but I think being “unhealthy” in body AND mind is really the biggest problem. The Korean movie was cute but was also kinda making fun of the beauty industry in a cheeky yet humorous way - but these types of c-drama storylines are not easy to act because it really does need a better script in order to have better character development otherwise, it’s not necessarily easy to empathize with the female lead. We’ve seen full body transformations before and I’m not joking but IRL an ex-husband sued the reality show and divorced his wife because he was literally no longer attracted to her because she was so different - yes she looked more like a model but the change was too much for him because he always loved how she looked before.. it was very sad but true story
The k movie I’m referring to is 200lb beauty and I’ve noticed that quite a few drama series have tried to spin off on that theme…but many of them fail to deliver on the ugly duckling story because our society has changed - our definition of what is ugly and what is beautiful is a bit different now compared to 40 years ago… of course some things will never change but people do become wiser (hence why the storyline behind “wicked” is so well liked and received by many audiences)

They're, sadly, representing the kind of body shaming that's common in the society. Actors starve themselves at the slightest mention of their being fat, and directors etc have no problem calling female actors, pig, cow etc when they want to browbeat them. Mothers harass daughters as they get older. The FL here at least had the 2fl shielding her from the worst of it prior to the man-grab at the beginning, but I bet she had to deal with the insults pretty much as soon as she went to school.

Che tristezza ascoltare tutti gli insulti rivolti alla protagonista durante la festa iniziale ma il peggiore è stato il padre Che senza un briciolo d'amore per la figlia l'ha messa alla berlina davanti a tutti gli invitati.
