@@samuelniigambo4924 it is best if the passport matches the person that created the account to avoid problems in the future. Recommend that the passport holder make a new wechat account otherwise high risk of getting blocked on wechat if they find out.
And sorry for so much comments but your app says set up to talk to suppliers. We have that covered. We need to set up to pay suppliers like does it help with that we need to set up wepay for the suppliers you get it ?
Once successfully linked, can I transfer money from my wechat to my foreign bank card too? My problem also is I can't accept red packet, it's asking me to verify ky acct with ID card info, which I don't have since I'm a foreigner and I'm in Southeast Asia.

Unless you have a Chinese ID card (Honk Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Included), only passports will work unfortunately. You may be able to use local ID if you are from Malaysia.

Actually you cannot do that. It is to prevent money laundering from untaxed income gained on WeChat. You would need to have a Chinese bank account and from that bank account in China, withdraw the money from WeChat to the bank account, then transfer from the Chinese bank to your local bank.

Wechat and Alipay work different in Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan will your method work in all 3 areas that are not mainland China?
Ohh yeah, it highly depends on your registration phone number. So like if you are a foreigner with wechat pay in mainland and try to use in HK, it won't work unless you are a Chinese citizen.

Remember, you can only buy products with a non Chinese bank card. If you want to top up send or receive money, then you need Chinese bank account. Have you tried alipay as an alternative?

@@LeanksDotExe Try to add a new bank card, put the wrong expiration date like 3-5 times until your WeChat pay gets restricted, then you can file a ticket and explain the details (In Chinese, use google translate).

@@youngsuicune2113 I know the issue. You cannot receive red packets or money with a foreign bank card, only with a Chinese bank card. However, you can purchase goods on websites with foreign cards.

you can only buy things online with wechat pay using foreign cards, not top up or send money. I suggest you try alipay tourpass

I think my wechat account is activated but when I tried to add my citibank mastercard it says can add debit card only. How do I get around the issue? The exact error message I see is "Only supports Debit Card". I don't have a debit card only credit card. The reason I want to use wechat pay is to add money to my Tencent video account, they only supports top up using wechat pay not alipay. It was so easy to setup my alipay account with money I don't know why wechat pay make it so hard!
Wechat is not foreigner friendly unlike alipay. I would try a different card if you have or to try to add the card buying something on PDD or with another transaction

You need to find a shipping agent that accepts foreign cards as payment or that can post their price on a website like taobao or xianyu. Otherwise it won't work

my agent requires 4% to buy for me, I'm not sure if the benefits of having weChat pay is going to have justifyable benefits for me after giving my personal info to the chinese ppl. Really unsure about this. Your input would be very helpful sir.
To be honest, paying with wechat pay directly is almost the same fee, probably closer to 5%. The reason they ask for your information is to prevent fraud. (Stolen cards and ID)
Hello can we scan someone's QR code from WeChat or alipay for the payments by using international bank card?
If you are physically in China, it may work for taxis and public transportation. It depends what kind of account the user has. Its tougher, if not using wechat tourcard, to do it overseas though without a vpn. There are transactions limits too.

Then keep on using it until it asks you. Sometimes the request takes time before you actually have to do it.
Another way is to to go to me, services, wechat wallet, on the top right corner there are 3 dots to click, then click real name authentication.

you can call your bank and ask it's more about the country supported than the bank
So i got a red packet from someone
First it asks me for personal verification so put my passport etc but then right after it asks for linking card. Now in the end it says that my country/region is not supported but on their website it says it is so iam confused as hell.....

Are you trying to pay with QQ wallet? This is only allowed for Chinese. Or are you trying to pay with wechat pay? When it comes time to pay, does wechat show up as an option? Your wechat pay already has your foreign bank card linked right?

i did the whole process to 'verify person' on wechat as i said i've use my wallet but suddenly i couldn't. I've though is bcs wechat has some intl block but seeing your video seems like is not because of any block. It happened to me a couple of months ago.
@@jemmyvabe8279 The only way I know around this is to file a ticket with WeChat. Wechat doesn't have customer service chat. To file a ticket you have to add a new bank card and write down the wrong expiration date or CVC code 4-5 times until your account gets restricted then you will get a notice to click on "view details" then you will write the details that need to be solved. Wait 2-3 days for their response to solve.

Only if you have money in your wechat balance or a Chinese bank account. In most cases it won't work with a foreign visa or Mastercard

You will have to start a ticket but purposely trying to add a bank card with the wrong expiration date until you get the option to view details and file a ticket explaining your situation.
I tried to set up Wechat pay, I found out pay money verify and receive payment verify are totally different. Receive payment only accept few countries MUST use china / hong kong / malaysia ... etc address and mobile number ...
Typically to RECEIVE payment, you usually need a Chinese bank account linked to your account, to PAY money to a supplier either through PDD or other platforms that accept WeChat pay, a passport and foreign bank card should be enough.

No, you cant use foreign cards to give CNY or top up your wechat account. To give money to Chinese directly, I recommend something like wise or western union that can send to their alipay directly.

Yes and no. Depends on the bank in China. I know some people who were able to open a bank account for their children but it is a level 2, not level 1 bank account. More limits on transactions that can be done. And then the kid linked that level 2 bank account to their wechat account. I would check with your bank if they can do this. (mainland Chinese bank that is)

I activated WeChat pay with a credit card from Australia just over a year ago, but it never worked when in China (tried at three or four different stores). have had my Fiance send money but that wont load either.......I have to pay cash like a cave man.

try to add a new credit card, but ut the wrong cvc code on purpose lole 4 or 5 times, then youll get a notice that your account is restricted and can.file a ticket to unlock your account, in your ticket explain the problem
So I don't have anyone with a wechat pay account and I tried your PDD option only to get stuck where it was asking to input name, phone number and location and address.... But the only problem was it was only showing mainland areas for the drop down and I'm currently in the United States. Unless I missed it by accident. But is there any other way I could possibly get this done. Considering I'm trying to enable it so I could purchase some drawing classes that I really want. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
PDD only ships to Chinese locations. On my website, you can actually buy from PDD directly and ship to the USA or to your frright forwarder. Have you tried it? Hmm maybe. It depends if that school has applied to accept payments for visa and mastercard on wechat.

If you want to receive payments with Wechat pay to your home company bank account need to use 3rd party service like Stripe.

Yes, go to me tab, services or wechat pay, click on your wallet or the three dots on top left and look for real name verification. There it should say if verified or not.
I contacted someone to transfer money to my Wechat pay account but my Wechat pay icon didn't appear. When I try to accept transfer it's still taking me to the verification process
Try installing and reinstalling wechat. Also your wechat pay may be called services under the me tab. It's the same thing just called a little differently.
6 digit password recovery is really very difficult

Because you can only transfer money to people from Chinese bank accounts, not foreign visa or mastercard. You can make payments (not send money to people) though on some platforms with the visa card.

With a foreign card you can only make payments, not top up, send or receive money from other wechat users

@@naturallydope247 Wechat is quite secretive on its limitations. It is not for the public and they change quite frequently. I only have the details for Alipay since they are more open. I see you are commenting on both using alipay and wechat pay. May I know what you want to do? I may have another solution for you.

My WeChat pay did not link my bank card. I got a message that it is not supported in my region how do I fix that
If your region is not supported, I suggest you try alipay. They have more options.

You will need to use a payment agent because wechat pay only let's you buy directly on platforms like PDD, but not send people money. I have a wechat group for this

Set your wechat to international. You do this by changing your phone number to match your region outside of China. Also make sure to check everything is in international and English in settings
Is your method also work for receiving money from other people or only for pay?
Once you have wechat pay activated, you can receive money. however, that money will only stay in RMB and can only be withdrawn to Chinese bank accounts. if you are trying to withdraw that money into your foreign bank card, it will not work

The visa card must be a credit card? it won't let me recharge with a debit card.
depends on your bank, I have added debit cards before. if a debit card is used, wechat may charge the card once for verfication, like less than 1 dollar
What do you mean "recharge"? It's not like you put the money on WeChat (top-up) from your card. Anyway, I dont know about debit cards, but I sucessfully added prepaid visa card (Revolut in my case). The problem is, even if the card is recognised (there was a small initial transaction to verify the card) I still can not use it to scan & pay - it totally depends on the merchand which may or may not accept the card. @@jag8007 its to prevent money laundering. You can only top up balance with Chinese bank cards. The only thing you can do with a foreign card is purchase goods online. I had a WeChat account for a number of years. And just loaded up WeChat pay and I was automatically linked to the passport verification and it went straight through. Maybe. That is because I’ve already been to China on that passport and had a live visa? I don’t know but it was verified electronically in less than 2 minutes. I then was given the option to link my bank account and that worked too. I then put in the 6 digit password and ping. It’s set up! Scarily easy.
For those that have lived in China or had a Chinese bank account, very easy! Its tough for those without a Chinese bank account and trying to set it up overseas.

QQ needs a Chinese ID to use the wallet, you may be able to top up QQ music with wechat pay though

You can only make purchases with foreign cards on WeChat, you will need a Chinese bank account to transfer rmb in wechat. It requires an investment though, but possible to do remotely

You won't be able to accept the payment until you have a Chinese bank account. Wechat pay with foreign cards only works to make payments online that accept wechat pay.

@@mht4908 no, cross border transactions only work from outside Chinese bank accounts to Chinese websites that use wechat pay. Not the other way around. Because to send and recieve money, you need to link a Chinese bank card. The foreign card only allows you to pay on platforms that accept wechat pay directly.

@@rawand7413 What platform are you trying to pay on? PDD? I suggest you have someone send you money personally and go through the verification process manually with your passport and all that and once they say your wechat pay is activated with your foreign card, try to pay again.

I tried the phone number and unfortunately it did not work. I should say my friend has tried this phone number everyday for me and it doesn't work. If you have another phone number for Wechat support that would be amazing. I am "banned" for 15 days because I submitted my middle name incorrectly. Having lots of problems. Canadian that just landed in China
That hotline works, but only if you speak and understand Chinese. Otherwise, it is very tough to reach a human. WeChat has probably the worst customer service in the world (random opinion), so if you need something for payments, try Alipay instead. If you are using Canadian cards and numbers, it should work.

Add a new bank card and put the wrong expiration date until your wechat pay is restricted and then file a ticket saying you want to change payment password.

Of course, this depends on your bank. Where in the world are there no currency exchange fees? No where. Lol. They charge about 5% plus what your bank charges.
