I'm so thankful for RUclips content like yours and HowlerPod existing for being able to listen to people discuss the books. No one in my circles has picked the books up yet. Nice having a discussion outlet while I read through the series. Can't wait for the next book and to hear the discussion over it.
This is one of the greatest books to ever be made in all of the history of books tbh. I seriously can't give this book praise enough. It took me from not liking Ephraim to crying when he died. It made me go from only liking Virginia to her being my favorite character in the entire series. And it strengthened my enjoyment in Lyria(ik not many people like her but I LOVE HER) Daxos death crushed me Cassius showing up I knew was gonna happen but I still felt shocked because Pierce did so well at making us forget someone was coming to save Darrow. Lysander is an amazing character but man do I just want to jump into the pages and smack the crap out of him. Edit: Volsuung is not Ragnars dad and it will make me sad if he truly is. I can't imagine someone so evil being related to Ragnar or Volga.
So awesome to see Ben & Erin and listen to all of you talk DA, I loved the book at the same time as I struggled to proceed with it since everything was going wrong for our guys. But what a great book it is!
The threat of altering Sevro's mind at the end of this book hit me the hardest. I don't know, maybe it's like a cummilative effect after everything that happened in the book. I just can't wait to see what's going to happen to him.
Just finished the book, its moved right up into my top 3 Sci Fi Novels of all time. Loved Dark Age, its gritty, its brutal, its smart, its complex, its hilarious (RIP Ephraim). Just such a great read.
Finally made it to this vid! What a great book and as always loved the discussion. Such a rollercoaster of emotions with this one. Loved the Ash Rain stuff and Virginia’s POV. Ephraim also really started growing on me. My heart is already broken after Alexander and all the other casualties but if Pierce wipes Sevro’s memories I don’t think I can forgive him. At least we still have Cassius. Can’t wait for Lightbringer!
I absolutely loved the storm gods and Orion's death. Orion thinking she would manage the "terrabites of data" controling the creation of storms strong enough to terraform the planet. Her ending up sitting there blank stare, nose bleeding, everyone around her dead. Turns out it was a mission to difficult for the navarch of the republic.
I still dont hate Lysander, I want him to fail in his goals of course, but I still think you can see where he's coming from. Though its left a little ambiguous of which side he'll swing to at the end
Discovered howler pod years ago happy to see you back when are new episodes coming to Spotify? I didn’t realize it was still a thing since the last episode was 2021. Love you guys though, “don’t be a pixie!”
First time I read about the blood eagle was in Guy Gavriel Kay's The Last Light of the Sun. Pretty good book, but that imagery really does stick with you, doesn't it.
Brown’s writing (which was already solid) largely levels up in Iron Gold and then again in Dark Age. Highly recommend, especially if you’re a fan of grimdark fantasy.

Right there with you been trying to convince my family to read the books and my sister and mom both quit after golden son.
@@kieranblubaugh7863how the hell do you quit after golden son!!!! I just don't get it. That ending... Man I just can't comprehend it
Yep when victra busts of that cell and lyria knowing the hand is gonna get the victra they made. Then just starts breaking people great scene

I can finally watch this. Dark Age was massive!

The wolf execution was actually an allusion to what (I think it was Caligula?) did to people. Not cartoonish at all!
The Brazen Bull. Real punishment that existed and a true horror.
44:17 that's what happens when you're full of hubris, which part IV alludes to since it's called Pride.
Perfect watch today for some review.
This book was insane.

Dark age's a 5/5, hoping pierce wont be too caught up in some of the negative criticism over the book's darkness, it was necessary for the story imo.
I don't get the Lysander hate
the final 4 gut punches are within like 6 chapters
This was Virginia's book!

How come you don’t read the graphic novels ?
something is wrong with me because I didnt think it was that dark. Great book though
*Promosm* 💦
I read the first 3 books and just passed on, i just couldnt care enough to stay invested.
Iron Gold and Dark Age is definitely worth getting invested in.

Yeah I’m not getting on this hype train
Cool dude no one cares if you are or not.
No one asked.
