I got married at 16 to a man that was turning 31 2 weeks later. He said i was the aggressive person in the relationship. He treated me like a child and abused me sexually, emotionally and physically. I left him when I turned 20. I took our daughter and never looked back. A few years ago Pennsylvania outlawed underage marriage even with a parent's constant. I had a bad home life as a kid an i thought at the time he was my escape. He was a worse fate than staying at home. I have daughters and i would never allow some older man near them. My parents didn't protect me from that monster or any other monster in my life. Any man who finds a 15 year old girl appealing in that way is a monster and should be punished severely for it.

I'm so glad you and your daughter are free and that you were able to get out! It's horrible such things are allowed to happen and AMEN to the last sentiment. NO SANE ADULTS WANT TO FK CHILDREN. It's questionable enough for when they're 18-19 depending on how much older the person is, and in such cases only overlooked because they'd both be adults.
It's horrific that anyone does such awful things! I've heard this same scenario (the older man was viewed as a "way out" from a bad home) from more than one young girl and the first thing I do is always the same; I tell them "Only sick adults want children for mates. It doesn't matter what you feel, the other is SICK. There is no love, no matter how much it looks like there is. It's selfish and has nothing to do with you. There can never be love from them that way because they are looking at you only as an object, and they will never admit it. This is NOT the way out-" and then I connect them with every service for help that I can find in their area and online.
I'm not always successful in convincing them, but a few have listened... If even one can be saved by hearing stories and personal accounts like yours, then that's a win IMO.

It is quite frightening how common your situation is and it sucks real bad. Though in our country the age of marriage is 18, people (mainly girls) get married off at 15 to 16 (around 10th grade, which is when high school is officially over, I know weird education system, and you start your pre collage years) in the villages..the guys are either the same age or 18 to 20s..or older....but I think 18 is still too young and getting married to someone in their 30s when you are that much of an age difference is just plain not okay. Especially when the girl meets the guy when she was under 18. A cousin of mine got eloped and later officially signed with a dude that was in his late 20s - early 30s when she was 16 (they met at a pre collage study group). She I think signed the papers around 18 years of age..this whole time this dude was so controlling and vindictive if my cousin so much as "acts out" and he did not even let her see her parents when they later forgave her for running away with a dude they say was bad news. She finally was able to leave him when her daughter was around 10ish because she feared he was going to do something bad to her child.
I cancelled my subscription to Discovery+ months ago. I got tired of funding creeps, criminals, and down right abuse. Plus from $6.99 to $11.99? I'll keep my $8.

Plus, in other cults the step children are usually the ones that are overly abused. They are used as scapegoats for all the biological children to escape punishment from their parents. I looked into this in the past and the Bible has a verse about letting a girl get married if she is past the "flower of her youth". I looked up when that is in Jewish tradition, and it's around age 21 or 22.
In Tony Alamo's deposition he repeatedly yells at the prosecutor "what's the difference?" meaning what's the difference between an adult and and a child. He also made kids hand air brush and bedazzle jean jackets he sold to celebraties for thousands. He would beat them in front of the congragation if they didn't make their quotas.

If your family was very wealthy in EUROPE, 1000 years later, there is some evidence that you maybe entered a multi-year engagement with another middle schooler that was not finalized until the woman was old enough to actually birth an heir without dying (below 19 is just as dangerous as over 35). But honestly men are evil and they see what they want to see through pure horny psychosis. It does not exist in the bible that any girl is ready to match and mate as soon as she spots her sheets. Not all of them but the die hards....in the early two thousands when my middle daughter was DXED with ALL the new neighborhood we had moved to shunned us and said she was sick because we were not Mormon. Moved right back to Park City and then to CT. Cults are scary and there are way more out there than people realize.

Which part did you grow up in? I was born in Arizona but my dad was military. We lived in Morgan and the coolest Mormon neighbors. Then moved to Missouri. But my dad always wanted to retire in Park City. So in 1978 they built a house and still live there. My husband and I moved to Heber and then Kamas. Very familiar with those areas but they got Way worse. Even giving our Latin friends green cards and property if they'd convert!

I was in an extremely abusive dysfunctional Mormon family living in the same ward with bloodline Shadow Church members doing some of the rituals, the MK ultra stuff, etc, and didn't realize I wasn't alone until I became an adult and heard all kinds of stories like mine. Yes the church uses all kinds of manipulation tactics to recruit people. But they also use things like voice to skull technology in the churches and temples. I used to work for them too and saw all kinds of things they don't tell the membership. I left the church about 11 years ago and just left the state.

FYI, there are multiple states without a minimum marriage age in the US. They either require parental or court approval or both. But you can technically marry a 9 year old in the US.. Unfortunately.
Yeah there's a docu series on hulu that talks about the increasing number of child marriages in the US, one woman was married to a man when she was 8 years old because her parents gave parental consent in exchange for money, literally minutes after marrying the 8 year old girl the man r@ped her, but it was all perfectly legal, now years later that woman confronts Congress to this day to speak out against child marriages in the US

As I was leaving my secular college campus, I discovered someone had placed one of Tony Alamo’s pamphlets on my windshield. I was immediately weirded out by it and was absolutely disgusted after doing some investigation. It blows my mind that even after his conviction and death that people are still promoting his “ministry”.
Hulu has a series called Cult Justice that actually goes into Tony Alamo as well as others. Its a pretty good series.

The puberty being the age of consent to me is wild. Girls used to not actually hit puberty, and by puberty they most likely mean your first menstrual cycle, until their late teens. Like 16-17. 8 and 9 year Olds were not menstruating. But even for 16 or 17 year Olds, that's messed up.

At 26 and just transitioning from homeless shelters, a 44yr ended up using me as a fantasy gf. He got a wife, but nobody mentioned they're together & no rings/ ring tattoos. He ended up expoiting the fact I struggled to find a job by paying "grocery money" even though I said no. He took videos I didn’t concent to. After a 1yr and a few months of getting tired of him saying he'll quit drinking & stop cheating I ended up going to 2 mutual friends to vent. He got angry said I ruined his friendships then tried to force me to lie by saying I made everything up. His wife is projecting and taking her anger out on me. He's consistently pissed I'm not nice or friendly enough to him and his wife agrees. Bad part is I've lost my job, struggling to find housing, and need to move out by this month it's the 15th. There’s a good docuseries called People’s magazine on cults. Each episode about a different cult. The one Alamo’s, it’s insane. They also had sweatshops and created jackets for celebrities.
The Susan and Tony Alamo cult story is a very interesting story. They started out west I believe in California and ran away to Arkansas to continue the cult and get away from some legality issues. When Susan died to cancer things got WAY crazier. It was really Susan’s cult until she died. If you’re interested in cults, definitely an interesting one to look into!
The only reason I looked so much into it was because I found out about the cult right as I was in the process of moving to the same town in Arkansas. Their compound is still there.
