- This week, The Electronic Intifada broke a major story: An internal email between New York Times staff reveals how the newspaper killed a visual investigation that would have debunked claims that violence in Amsterdam earlier this month was characterized by “anti-Semitic attacks” on Israeli football fans.
The investigation squashed by editors would have established that it was Israeli hooligans who began a rampage in the city, attacking residents, vandalizing property and then crying victim. Associate Editor Asa Winstanley brings us all the latest.

As someone who lives in Amsterdam I've not in the past been a huge fan of our mayor, but I do give her credit for acknowledging her mistakes. This kind of honesty is exceedingly rare in politicians.

I agree with all you say except using the term pogrom in any capacity. That is such a heinous act of such magnitude it should not be assigned to any form of hooliganism as equivalent.

The African and Muslim world is still feeling the effects of European colonisation. Certain countries are still paying reparations to their colonisers, because they got independence. If you don't want to be "colonised" then your countries, and the organisations they created, such as the IMF and World Bank, need to end reparations and provide economic assistance to establish first world level infrastructure, especially in energy generation, which cannot rely on solar panels and windmills.

There are always two sides to a story. So yes there were Israeli Hooligans among the Maccabi supporters that sang horrible songs, chanted distasteful slurs, ripped Palestinian flags off of buildings and maybe even scuffled/beat a taxi driver.
Then on the other hand there is the call to hunt down these hooligans and violence that ensued against mainly Israelis and Jews.
Both sides of this are as guilty as the other one, pots and kettles and both sides feel shortchanged by the Press/media/police/authorities.
And both sides now bombard social media wjth complaints. Although the thugs amongst the Bontkraagjes seem to get more exposure.... those little darlings just in all this drama for the greater good, heartily supported by useful idiots, pied pipers and others on the barricades.
