This is super helpful! I’m an ultimate player and because of melee stuff that’s been going its made me want to get into it. As much as I like playing ultimate, melee has a more compassionate community. I’m glad there’s this training mod that I can use ! Thanks a bunch!

@@Bamblagram The combination of execution requirements and creativity/expression. Never fully "mastered". Most people have to get into some sort of flow to play well. It's analog to the point there's often no "correct" option like in other fighting games for example, which are often "choose the correct algorithm in this situation". It's more of go with a good option and then improvise. Maybe a guitar solo would be a better analogue.

I do agree with you to some extent- especially in regard to "flow states", I can see a lot more similarities in improvising a great jazz solo & playing advantage state extremely well. Having an open mind and being creative, letting your skill carry you through those flow states. However, I think those similarities exist in many different hobbies and I would still consider them as a whole, non-comparable.
Taking Melee step by step is so important. At first I tried to learn wavedashing, wavelanding L-cancelling and combos at the same time, that didn't go too well
@@twelvevoltage they are, but as long as you've played a fighter or smash game before in general it should be somewhat familiar. the essential tech for melee has to be labbed out early tho in order to do what you want in the game
2:30 Personally, I don't really mind getting bodied by really good players on unranked. Just yesterday I ran into Medz, got like 4 stocked every game but watching through those replays has made it really easy for me to see bad habits of mine and how he exploited them (I'm a fox main too, so I can just yoink a lot of his stuff). What's frustrating is when you can tell someone's bad at the game and you still get bodied, that shit's demoralizing lmfao

I been watching melee since ultimate come out and I love the butterflies when you see a pro do something never done before. Slippi going to make it way easier to play especially in Perth Australia where crt and game cubes are rare.

to be fair this was fan-made and Nintendo would never make a tutorial like this either. also Tekken mechanics can be learned in the same way people used to learn stuff for this game, practising.
Blasted Salami does some pretty good work, plus there's tons of other channels dedicated to Tekken and teaching you how to play. It sucks that we need to look outside the game but at that point you're already going beyond playing casually.
I got into competitive smash through smash 4 and eventually dropped it for a few years until eventually i came back to learn more traditional fighting games like street fighter 6, tekken, guilty gear, etc. I recently came back to catch up on competitive melee and watched the smash summit 11 grand finals with mango and zain and i was blown away. Immediately i downloaded slippi and started trying to learn the game and play online but i just got tossed around like a ragdoll the entire time. Found this video and im so excited to actually learn how to play melee and hop back on slippi
Yes! Been waiting for this for a while! I've been playing ultimate for the past year and have lost the feel for melee and it doesn't feel as natural as it used to when I played for 4 years. Can't wait to start the grind!

Training Mode 3.0 will be free eventually though, it's just in alpha at the moment and I don't blame UncP for a second for making a few Ps off the Alpha. Rollback doubles is incredible as well, this will get Armada back! Go for his soft spot, his weakness... his bruddah.
I think if you never playes the game, it's easy to forget how often you have to press L canceling on every jump to any platform or ledge. Especially since it has become 2nd nature for the competitive community.

Went from ultimate to melee to a hybrid player who plays both games. Low key been having more fun playing Melee because of the training that I can do, this mod helps me with my movement tremendously. Also the online is 100% smoother.
I've always tried to get start melee,but I was always intimidated by things like punishing,L-canceling,wave-dashing,knowing when to do the right option or what the heck neutral even is. But I think this video has given me the confidence to try it out. Nice video Leffen
I’ve played this game off and on for like 8 years, and the last 2 weeks with UnclePunch 3.0 has seen bigger improvement than my first 8 years. Just being able to get a response from the game that I did a tech correctly like L Canceling had me hitting 90% with falco in a few sessions

I know nothing about any of the games but I enjoy watching melee tournaments and it's pretty fun to play even when you know literally no shit about anything. It's a pretty cool game and I want to start playing and getting better at it.
It's crazy how much easier it is now. I remember looking online before RUclips cause everyone was talking about L canceling and I couldn't find anything helpful online how to do it
Don’t really have any interest in picking up melee but damn I’m super impressed by whoever made Blippi cause I’ve never seen a mod to practice and play the game as good as this
I probably already wave dash but don't even realize it was something special. I do so much trigger rolling and air dodging. But honestly I'm more into Brawl as much as I did love Melee. My first taste was 64. I still haven't played the latest one. Nintendo said they want people to focus on the more recent titles. And they said we get away with so much as far as emulation, etc that they feel like it's some bullshit. But yeah if I had some time on my hands in Quarantine I would go for it. Melee has a cleanness and finish to it. It's almost as endless as the event horizon on Final Destination.
In sfv top level players sit in waiting rooms with recording an opponents options and just labs things out for hours on end. For melee this is amazing to see!

A video on the random save state would be so great! I feel like my practice is often limited by 20xx and UP 1.1 (updating that now!) forcing me to tunnel vision on hyperspecific situations. Athough I may be 8/10 on upsmash punish on marth f smash in training when its the only thing I'm looking for, I often miss the reaction cue to execute it in games!
