Alex Meixner is one of the most dynamic accordionists on the scene today. Meixner has performed around the world, notably at American festivals like The National Folk Festival and Central Park SummerStage, as well as at uncountable community celebrations and accordion-centric events. He has worked with Jack Black on the Sundance-screened, Netflix movie "The Polka King", with Post Modern Jukebox, and as an on-screen spokesperson for Hormel Pepperoni.

Alex what would be a good begginer accordian for somone who likes waltzes and classical music
That;s quite a loaded question in different ways. There are a lot of debates within the accordion community on whether a piano accordion or button chromatic would be preferable. (The diatonic instrument like I use in this video, has a very distinctive sound- but isn't built for the full chromaticism that is necessary for classical music)
Different brands- at different levels of their lines- have different advantages as well.
Do you already play another instrument or is this a first instrument as well?
Hello Mr.Meixner , i was wondering, I am new to the accordion. I have had mines(a simple hohner panther) for about a month, and as awesome as it is, my skills are not. I wish to practice and play for my family someday. I was wondering if there are any ways/techniques to play this type of accordion. I tried to see if there was any online videos on this type of simple accordion, but there seems to be a lack of videos :/ Either way, your technique and playing is super awesome and cool!
start with easy waltz music. For example: "Oh Isabella" in tonne C.
I teach students on a Hohner panther - and I generally adapt the lesson planning depending on the musical ideals and skills of each student, so it's difficult to give a specific starting point without hearing you.
