thank you for the thorough explanation and walkthrough, pocket has improved a LOT and I'm really considering getting it now, especially with the very useful accessories available
Probably the best review of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 I’ve watched. You did an amazing job showing the capabilities of the camera in a real life situation. Thanks a lot!
This is just the PERFECT kind of review I have been looking for as this is proper low light usage and not just walking around outdoors at night. I am looking to start vlogging my DJ gigs and as you know, clubs and bars are usually very low light but this looks so much better than my iPhone 14 Pro. DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is now in my wishlist for payday in a few weeks :D
Trying to do the same for a Cosplay Con around South East Asia going forward to the end of the year. Unfortunately it's really hard to get the Creator Combo here in Indonesia (and probably even everywhere around not just in this country). Loved your footage and tests! Great job!
I would recommend using the dji mic but without noise cancelling and also turn on internal mic. The good thing is that you can use both at the same time. One of the latest updates allowed you have a back up audio file from the pocket 3
Thanks for the honesty in this review. To me, this camera doesn't fit the bill for my needs. Thanks for sharing. I truly can't trust most of the earlier reviews these days.
i wanted to buy this for kpop concerts when im on floor to record my interactions since i move too much with my hand phone and didnt stabilize me freaking out after getting captured, i think thisll work just fine + for vlogs!! i loved this
Something Id like to see is a manual focus. Essentially, it locks onto the distance that its focusing whenever you tap on the screen. So the auto focus has no chance of breathing when you move in low light. I've been seeing a lot of focus breathing in the low light mode videos
I must consider Osmo Pocket is great for event, especially concerts. I used OP 1 and now i buy OP 3. A huge huge improvement ! Many people are curious and often focus the OP 3 !
Really appreciate this video, what a fun and unique way to review the Pocket 3! Question - What kind of battery life are you seeing with the DJI mic 2? Does it power on/off automatically when you turn the Pocket on/off? One of my biggest gripes with the Rode wireless GO mics is that you need to constantly turn them on/off or else the battery drains and they won't last a full day of vlogging.
I don't know exactly how long they last, they don't really have info on them yet. But yes, you would have to turn them off if you are no longer using it anymore.
It might be interesting to pair this with either the iPhone 15 ProMax with it's 5x optical zoom or the Sony RX100 VII to have a lite kit but still get some reach if you need it.
Problem is that DJI Mic 2 as i see is not capable of recording a loud concert. Im doing IRL livestreams so it will not work for concerts. Do you tried to livestream with this device? 1080p30fps to twitch? Do you notice any stutters? Or overheating problems, especially if you charge at the same time when you stream?
Hey, quick question! Minute 10:00 - 10:20, before u started introducing the mic in the concert, were you using the built in mic to record the footage of the concert?
What is the continuous recording time? Does the camera stop recording or shuts off after a certain time of recording like some pointing shoot cameras do? I notice not one single person mentioned that in their review
How long does the battery last? How many spare batteries would you need to cover a full 12 hour event? I used to use a osmo pocket 1 & 2 but switched to a blackmagic 6k pro with a prime lens but would happily go back to the osmo pocket if the batteries can last and the low light situation. Would appreciate feedback.
could you show what was your holding distance for the pocket 3 while walking throughout the video? would be really helpful for people to make a purchase decision.
Most of the time I'm using the DJI mic 2, so the distance between me and the camera doesn't really matter. But for the ones that I was using internal microphone, I would say about less than half arm lenght, so maybe about 10 inches from my face
I'm a bit worried about overheating.. I have heard that people have had that issue and in Europe you need to add some sort of TXT file in SD-card that gives some permission to camera work in higher temps for longer period of times.. What would you think IF I shoot continously about 2-3 hours indoor event continously would OM pocket 3 survive from that?
Great video. The only reason I can't consider this camera is the fact that it's not weatherproof. I travel A LOT and the weather is not always good. That's why I love my Action 3.
True I am trying to decide in buying this or a Sony camera. I film in public as I vlog I been seeing stores giving people a hard time with a big camera 📸
i dont think sony has any screen facing you? As someone who takes videos a lot i like it when i can see myself on the screen at all times and the capture what's in front of me without having to swtich lenses. Also I'd be scared for my sony camera to get stolen since it is quite large@@misterlonestar

Also the autofocus does not seem as good as most other cameras in the same category when there is significant light. I wonder if this is something that would get better with firmware updates.
hello I bought the mic 2 too but am confused. I see that you also play the guitar, so here I bought this microphone just to record a rock concert, to try, I plug in my stereo at home and I play the music a little loudly to see the behavior the result is disastrous because when listening to the rendering, the sound is very low, so what I do is go up to 12 db on the transmitters and also on the receiver, so all the way up and there it goes a little better but not great. so who tried to record them when you play an instrument? could you help me? THANKS
Hello, 1. From which camera have you shot this entire video because it seems like you have multiple cameras? 2. what is the total recording time or total battery life when shooting in 4k 60fps in pocket 3?
1. I was either shooting with the Pocket 3 or just my iPhone 14 for when I need to show the Pocket 3. 2. I don't know for sure, but I as able to go over an hour shooting in low light mode (4k 30) for over an hour in my other video where I did a blizzcon walk through.
@@MartinWongPhoto thanks for you reply. Also can we record from the pocket 3 for like 4- 5 hours while charging it (having a higher memory card inserted) ?
I have the old DJI Osmo, When I record live concert show, the camera can get very hot and stop recording. Can you record a live show 15 min long? Do pocket 3 get hot and act up when it is recording long ?
I haven't really gotten much chance to play with it, but it's basically a log profile that dji made so you can grade it better, it's not available when using low light mode.
This is a different way of looking at the camera compared with all those "me too" videos - excellent. A couple of things worth mentioning - it's not yet available as a separate purchase but the camera supports two of the radio mics, in stereo. You could use that for recording two people of course, but also you could record in stereo with suitable spacing of the mics, or using a stereo mic split across the two transmitters. That might be relevant for concert recording in particular. And there's some talk of 32 bit float being made to work on the camera's own stereo mics in a future update. That would be kind of neat, to say the least, and a world first in a camera I suspect. About the only reason why I'd hold back on purchase right now - well, apart from being broke from previous gimbal camera purchases (4...) is to wait for more reports of running time before overheating. Would it last through a whole concert of say a couple of hours? And lastly, there's a few reports of the rotating screen becoming defective - bad batch I suspect, as I am sure they will have tested that intensively before release. Still, I will wait and see. And save...
Yea, I might buy another mic 2 once it's available, it just seems to convenient! So I have recorded a full hour in my other video and it was fine, wasn't even like hot to touch or hotter than normal. I don't know how it would perform for a few hours or an outdoor concert under the sun though. The quick battery swap makes it so easy to keep on recording for long hours.

But in other videos I have seen excellent results even without low light mode in dark scenes, particularly if you know what settings are best to use.
I don't think it's overpriced, it's an extremely small camera with a gimbal, with a ton of features. I feel like the only comparison you would have is getting a cheap mirrorless camera with a gimbal and buying a lens but I doubt that would be much cheaper than this if it is cheaper at all
Noise is awful after ISO3200. Colors bad too. If not for vloging, this camera can't be on par with DSLR. You should show the footage of what you filmed from Pocket 3, when you said it's good with noise at ISO16000.

I have included the iPhone comparison. You can't compare this with a DSLR or a mirrorless camera, they are just very different products
@@MartinWongPhoto ISO 16000 is a killer even for my Canon 5D mark 3 Full Frame camera. So, yes I can compare it.
@@SergSpace those are two very different type of cameras, and the dji osmo pocket 3 has a gimbal. That's like saying the ARRI Alexa w/ cine lens looks better than your Canon 5D's video.
@@MartinWongPhoto In your video you say it's good even with ISO in low light. I'm simply saying it's far from good at 16000, even FF is not good at this high ISO. Cine lenses have nothing to do with that.
The idea is that you can't compare that to a camera with a much bigger sensor, you should be comparing it with sensor the same size.
at 10:47 you as the subject are out of focus, and the focus is on the background..
I think I forgot to use low light mode and it grabbed attention to the bright people face in the back
I rather go for a action 4
I think they serve very different purposes
its honestly really bad see how it is always out of focus example 3:45 wow terrible cancelled my order
Why are you so out of focus? I've not seen this on any other Pocket 3 review.
What I thought and know from my pocket 1. Still seams to be a problem. 90% of the Pocket 3 videos here are currently sponsored so they will not show any problems. I really want this cam but this problem holds me back.
Which time stamps was he out of focus on? I want to see.
@@Tvj_films8452for example in the outside scene starting 9:44
If DJI could improve the Atrocious auto focus of the pocket 1 to be great, I’m sure they can figure this one out, wait it out a little bit
Because it was in low light mode and didn't have face tracking and also there are so many things going on
Kzoom n s2x ultra do better job. Unless u hugging the railing
very different products and price point
Over heats at 60fps
I haven’t experienced any overheat issues so far, but it is pretty cold in the convention center
keep losing focus... man,,,
It was super dark
20mm is too wide for anything but talking to a camera and taking selfies. This thing is useless for concerts.
i agree
@@MartinWongPhotoA 50mm version should be cool. At that price point you can buy 2.
That's why we need telephotos. Though they are great for showing landscapes and scenes.
U can not satisfy everyone 😂....then when you you're in a tight space you'll want a wider lens....it's fine how it is....for me
@@artisans8521 or just use your smartphone and get ultra wide to super tele in one device.
too much stuff about microphone
yeah, this video is mostly about the microphone, if you want to learn more about the camera, you can watch this video:

I don't see big difference. Worthless camera.
