I am editing my first wedding video and I was super overwhelmed with the quantity of shots I have and their length, so this was very helpful! Thanks Zach!
I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for the "," shortcut! I edit the exact same way and it's nice to see someone else with the same workflow. I knew there had to be a faster way.
i`m not related to wedding filmmaking yet but your suggestions save tons of my time. Thanks a lot, mate. one of the few videos on youtube that actually really help and teach something useful. With best wishes from Ukraine!
I'm not sure what exactly I expected this video to be about, but I probably didn't expect keyboard commands. It was a nice refresher course, so thanks! I totally forgot you could colour coordinate your clips. Super-helpful.
Yes of course! You could do that by selecting the audio from both cams, right clicking on the audio and click "synchronize." Might take some time but it would work!
Zachariah Mayfield Great vid dude.....the comma served me well as a Ppro user on many projects. I only hope you get the opportunity to see how this is done in FCPX. Once you do......you will most likely uninstall Ppro. 😂 #favorites #keywords #roles
I prefer to set all my in to out points and then use the automate to sequence tool in the clip menu. This feature is really awesome because if you set markers to the beat of a song you can have the tool set the start of each sequential clip to start at the marker. This is really great for b-roll in particular. There are so many dang tricks on here I'm always amazed at what I don't know but it really is fun to learn it all. I didn't know about the comma trick for example, I can use that trick now too.
OMG you just stepped my game up, okay so let's continue I would like add some of those wedding footages with the pictures that I took. How do I do that? I'm going to scroll through your video history to see if there also looking for the best transition for in between those footage. I'm learning Premier I want to be great at it at the moment I'm real basic.
Select reel man. q+w+e (changed to "add edit on all layers") with the j+k+l makes it go so so much faster. Then you can group the files easily into sections and go straight from there ;D
You can add markers to where you want the cuts to happen, then select all the clips that you want to add(set the in and out points) and go to Clip>Automate to Sequence>Placement. In placement, select At Unnumbered Markers. It will put all the clips according to the markers.
hello friend, great video, it will help me a lot. Give me a little doubt. Do you put all the recorded moments of the wedding into a single folder? I usually separate by ceremony, party, rehearsal, rehearsal of the groom ... Thanks for sharing!
Yeah that comma thing is awesome I use the Premiere CS5 FCP 7 settings but I went into the keyboard shortcuts and changed it to the comma button its in clip where it says insert, very helpful thanks
I've been doing this for about 4 months since seeing another RUclips tutorial on it, can confirm its shaved sooooo much time on my editing, though I'd recommend making shortcuts for colouring your footage labels too as that saves me a few seconds, but a few seconds here and there all adds up
@@ZachMayfield thank you so much zach for your video tutorial i was looking for this because we have event next month and it requires same day edit and this is my first time to create SDE's thats why im looking for tutorial that might help me. Thank you so much! I also subscribed to your channel i hope you create more tutorials! Godbless zach! 😊
Hi, how are you!? I use some of the same metod, but not woth those keys L, K and G. Im moving with a wacom intuos, just with my finger tips and I use the I and O ... but really depends on what Im editing, I think that the real tip Im can give, its that we all have to be organize since the begining, when Im importing the clips of two or three cameras of the wedding to save into the disk, Im creat folders with sections... 1 Church (and the cameras separated in order) 2 Formal photos 3 Bride and groom entry, dance.. etc... And then when Im importing to premiere, all videos will be organized in folders, by sections, and I added colors to differentiate them. Sorry for my bad english, but I tried to synthesize more or less what are the first steps for my organizartions! Greetings from Uruguay
I'm doing well today, thanks for asking! It's great hearing your process of organization, and I will definitely keep that in mind for my future edits. It's fun just trying to figure out the most efficient methods of editing, so thank you for your input! Blessings to you!
Zachariah Mayfield I am just getting into Weddings. Doing my first one in December. But I do weekly guitar gear reviews. So I am editing like crazy almost every night. So these tips literally changed my life.
Man, You are awesome, this helped me a lot and still helping a lot. I can say you made my editing skill 10x faster. Keep making great videos. Again Thanks a lot.
"Got that okay sweet" hahaha I love this. You have a likable and unique personality man. Thanks for this upload. It's going to make it possible for me to edit a wedding film I shot while studying calculus.
It took me a while to do something similar. Y have a timeline just for the cuts and one for the two final videos (one short, one long). But it's pretty fast since you already cut all the best parts and while you doing it, you are shaping the final video in your head. * Thumbs up for your great vid *
used my gh5 as a b cam my first wedding gig. Compared to Canon its not great. Auto Focus is way off and low light performance is not great either. remembered why I switched lol
This was só helpful! But one question. You pick a lot of clips. But afterwards you still have to edit it to the music, right? Do you have some great tips for that? (First video I've ever seen of you. I subscribed and liked the video, awesome work!)
When i move the folder to media browser it's fine but when i double click it doesn't open in another bin it opens in the media browser. how do i get it to open in another bin?
Thanks this has helped so much! You explained the very beginning better than any video I’ve watched thus far which has been about 20! I haven’t even shot my first video but I want to know as much about it as possible!
I am editing my first wedding video and I was super overwhelmed with the quantity of shots I have and their length, so this was very helpful! Thanks Zach!

Dude.... That just blew my mind. This is going to save so much freaking time. Thanks man
Dude SICK! Glad it helped you out man!
Thanks a lot for the info! Quick question. What if you want to synchronize your and 2nd shooter cams?
Yes of course! You could do that by selecting the audio from both cams, right clicking on the audio and click "synchronize." Might take some time but it would work!
You had me at the comma trick! Thanks so much for your video
You're so welcome!
Yo! Comma for the win. Thanks man.

@@ZachMayfield what is the same shortcut on windows ?
I edit with a Mac and a PC and it's the exact same for both. Maybe look into your premiere shortcut settings.

Dude I'm glad it helped ya!
Love the comma trick, but quick question, what if you have to cut to the beat of music? Any tips for speeding up edit that way?
You can add markers to where you want the cuts to happen, then select all the clips that you want to add(set the in and out points) and go to Clip>Automate to Sequence>Placement. In placement, select At Unnumbered Markers. It will put all the clips according to the markers.
Look at this guy shredding!

Great tips man! But I have one question: I use Windows, so what button would be the equivalent of comma?
still comma haha!
hello friend, great video, it will help me a lot.
Give me a little doubt.
Do you put all the recorded moments of the wedding into a single folder?
I usually separate by ceremony, party, rehearsal, rehearsal of the groom ...

Wow! Thanks the tutorial! You’re not lying this is super fast editing!
Omg the comma is the best thing ever thank you bro!! Subscribed
I wish there was a keyboard shortcut that puts the next clip in ur source monitor. Using the mouse after comma kills the pace. 😩
True. Mouse is slow
just put your left hand over jklio, and the other one on your mouse...
"Source Clip: Next" and "Source Clip: Previous" ;)
Knew the whole process. But Comma brings me to a new dimension.
Dude, Comma trick. You are a living legend!!!
Bro I'm so glad it helped ya!!
