No way! My dogs name is atlas too! Great minds think alike! My atlas is an alaskan shepherd, which is a hybrid between alaskan malamute and german shepherd
One of the guys who has worked on my house for years has a Great Dane named Atlas. (His last Great Dane was named Elvis.)
Kudos to Kim for totally SLAYING her speech. Nailed it. SO well done.
The powder room looks incredible. Great job. Quit selling yourself short. It’s perfect with imperfections. That’s art
I find that I watch the RUclipsrs that, in whatever they may do, have in their lives the pursuit of Excellence. They have a passion for restoring paintings, furniture, homes, etc. and do so to the very best of their abilities. They will spend more time than the average soul on "making it right". You, my friend, pass the muster. As a photographer and one who loves architecture it is a pleasure to see a kindred spirit (albeit in a different way) who loves and appreciates the makers of the past 💗. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
the wallpaper looks incredible! keep at it - slow and steady wins the race. also, can't wait for the @The2ndEmpireStrikesBack and @BaumgartnerArtRestoration collab!
I subscribe to him too he's great
I was just thinking the same thing! Every old painting he shows, I always think: "I know a guy who can make that as good as new!"
Baumgartner is an awesome channel.
OMG FR
You are a patient rascal. It is paying off because that looks beautiful.
If my dad was still alive,he would have gladly done your painting restoration for free. He was an artist that enjoyed restoring paintings and hand carving frames. He did it for local museums, libraries and universities for free just for the experience.
The bathroom stenciling is beautiful. I'm a big fan of doing that. I did my upstairs landing ,but I did it with a brush. It took me forever but it's been there 20 years and still looks great.
That much stenciling, my head would explode. You're a more patient man than I am.
The bathroom changes with every week more and more. And it's so cool to meet Atlas. He's so adorable!
I originally thought the pattern was larger, but what you have done looks great. I like the variations in the red color. It does look 'hand stamped', which works well in your vintage room. The homage to the butler's pantry still makes me smile.
I imagined it bigger as well. I was really surprised to see it so small but actually like it small probably better than what my brain imagined.
What's weird is that in MY imagination, the size was exactly as is. It's interesting to hear what others thought it would be. Human beings are truly stamped with their own individuality. Honestly, I have learned a lot from this channel's subscribers. And I didn't have to fork over any tuition. Winning, I tell ya!!@
I knew the "wall paper" would look good, but oh my goodness it is even more amazing than I anticipated!
Wall paper is beautiful.
"Spokes-Kim!" Awesome.
Hurrah! My three favorite YT sites; Second Empire, Thomas Johnson Furniture Restoration, and Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration.
I have used Baumgartner Restorations. My painting required a lot of repairs and Julian did not disappoint, it was a very successful restoration.
That’s good to read. I’ve been watching him longer than Kaleb & Kim. 🤓
He looks awesome, expensive and worth it. :) we love watching him too.
I am familiar with the name, lol, having seen their ads and their trucks.
The painted "wallpaper" is beautiful. You are truly a talented artist. I'm incredibly proud of the work you and Kim are putting in to this restoration!
At some point in time, you may want to invest in a Cricut machine so you can make your own stencils from vinyl. Especially if you have lots of rooms to do. The Cricut machine comes in handy for lots of other crafty things too.
that is what I was thinking as well, do they make them large enough?
@@AkSonya1010 I like the Cricut Maker which does 12X12 sheets. The Cricut 3 may be able to do larger stencils but, why? 12x12 is basically easier to manage.
This is a really good idea. I have a Cricut that I’ve never used. I had planned on making vinyl designs for shirts but never got around to it because of the pandemic and the growth of my other handmade business. I own a house built in 1899 and I also live in St. Louis and we’re about to start renovating in two days. Because of the encouraging words I’ve received from Caleb and others I’m also going to start a RUclips channel. I start filming on Monday. I’m going to film up to 3 weeks worth of content before I start posting just to stay ahead of life.
@@tylerbhumphries Looking forward to seeing your channel.
@@1LuckieDuckie thank you.
You should be proud of yourself. You would swear it's wall paper. The stencil is fantastic
Caleb and Miss Kim... The Powder Room looks amazing! I can really imagine what the room looked Ike " Back in the day. You're getting there! You should both be very proud of yourselves. I am proud of both of you! Lol I sound like a Mom.
Well hello, Mr. Atlas. I am glad you could join us. Wish I could magically throw a treat through the screen for Atlas to catch. Anyway, this wallpaper process is absolutely fascinating to me. I have learned so much about a process I never knew existed. My depression has been off-the-charts over the last two weeks, but you, Kim & the puppers have lifted my spirits. Thank you.
Looking great! YES, embrace the 'wabi-sabi' of it all. That, and the tasteful choices you're making will enhance your home with the subtle character that it's always had.
If you do a bigger room with that method, maybe an aluminum main stencil with cardboard ones for the edges and weird angles would be a good option. That way you can do an acetone soak when it gets clogged. I know aluminum stencils can run pretty pricey though.
It would be so hard to hold up the aluminum especially when plastic is easy to tape to the wall. The plastic ones are fairly easy to clean with a multitude of removers and even goof off when it's fresh.
@@AkSonya1010 how would aluminum be hard to tape up? Especially at the thinner guages, it's not much heavier than a dense plastic. I've worked professionally with thick aluminum stencils (not for wall painting though) and even those were pretty lightweight.
Granted, I haven't worked with plastic stencils much, but wouldn't they be a serious problem to clean if the paint has enough time to cure completely on them? I'm not well-versed in my plastics, but the only kind I'm aware of that can handle an acetone bath is silicone, which would not make for a good stencil. Unlike metal, you can't throw harsh chemicals at most plastics when paint cures completely.
I'm just genuinely curious. If plastic is a viable alternative, that could definitely save Kaleb a lot of money and headache even compared to aluminum if he does another paint-on wallpaper.
@@blazertundra what's really funny. We had another discussion about the size of the pattern in the bathroom. Some of us envisioned the pattern larger & some people felt it was exactly what they had envisioned.
When I think of aluminum stencils. I have to admit, I was thinking of heavy gauge aluminum not thin. 🤣 It is interesting how we all interpret the same thing so different based on our experience. I used to do road construction & paint asphalt & had heavy-duty aluminum stencils, so that is where my mind went. 😉
I haven't had a problem cleaning the plastic stencils even when they dry. I've scraped it off or I used a gel paint remover.
You have MUCH MORE PATIENCE than I !!!! I understand you wanting to go back in History, but WOW, this would be "MIND NUMBING" to me!!!!
You ain't kidding, I just hope he's painting the rest of the house ..lol
It's nice to see Kim and Atlas
Honestly, I wasn’t sure about what that bathroom painted would look like, but it looks very elegant and seems perfect for a bathroom.
Believe it or not. Your videos are my therapy
Hey there, my name's carla from UK. I love watching you put some much pride and joy into all your videos and your home. You inspire me so much, me and my partner are currently placing a bid on our first home together. The house need a lot of work and my partner doesn't really now the first thing about DIY and I love having a go at anything you can learn to do up and house. I was wondering if you could give him (Ollie)a shout and some incouragement and advice with hopefully spending our future spend our time to make our dream home just like you and your partner are doing. Thank you again for being and amazing house renovation and person, it really makes me smile to see someone so passionate about old homes.
Hi Carla, I hope Kaleb does give Ollie the shout out!! Kaleb's been through it all in his restoration. Fascinating process. Good luck with your new home, as well as all the twists & turns to come.
I like that painting, it fits with the home so well..
That wallpaper/ print us awesome. It looks like it's been there forever!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I just want to point out, that you have a amazing Father. Your so lucky to have him. I love him. My dad was abusive, so I envy people
with great dads...❤
The wall looks amazing- great job! Love the pattern, too. I think you-and Dad- will feel much better when the medallion is repaired. It's an awful shame it was broken, but it's still old, wasn't completely powdered, and will be beautiful! BTW, Atlas has a good smile! Thanks for the update!
Pretty good are you kidding me those walls are gorgeous
Don't stress about progress. It will take as long as it takes. I love how it's looking and agree that the slight variances of it being hand done makes it even more charming and beautiful.
Never imagined I would ever express this particular thought, but that toilet is AWESOME!! I would definately put that in my bathroom!
It's turning out beautifully! Glad to see you brightened up a bit, and having a little furry companion makes the work day more fun. Welcome home Atlas!
the stenciling looks GREAT. it has to be close to what was before. I know you need and want to get the room fully functional - but you'll be glad you took the time to do this.
You did an excellent job with the painting in the bathroom, I really appreciate your sponsor choice, everyone needs therapy these days. The house is looking great it’s so much nicer now that you have electricity. Atlas is beautiful. That painting will look great in the house although I would prefer paintings of people that I knew. It would be great if you could have you and Kim dressed in vintage clothes and have a painting made of you to add to the house. I bet you get a lot done this year. Your fans ChuckandMax
That painting you showed I thought it was Mr. Brown in his younger days. Strange that it wasn’t but it sure was a beautiful piece of art. The powder room is looking really good n I kinda like the imperfections in the lines. It wouldn’t bother me a bit if I ever came for a visit or even a stay.
Atlas is very handsome boy n bet he’s liking that he’s able to spend more time with his daddy. That’s to bad about the wood you got. It’s so hard at this day of age to find original pieces to a much older home but you’ve managed to do fairly well. Wish you n Kim a good week. Sending lots of hugs from the Sunshine State.
♥️♥️😊👍👍👍
Looking good. I'm just amazed that a small scrap of paper could make such a difference to the room. Just WOW!! ❤️ 🤍💙
Atlas is such a loyal, good boy! The oil painting is very lifelike & probably has a story all to its own. Amazing work being completed in the bathroom. Great video!
The wallpaper looks very nice, enjoy all of you guys hard work. Keep allowing us to share the beautiful resorations.
I’m more familiar with stenciling with a brush technique with different stencils for different colors and marks to keep the pattern true. With your art background I’m sure we will see lots of ideas/techniques as you take us along on this wonderful journey. Thanks!
Kim, great job on the ad. Sounded very professional. The irony on the fact that the bead board is hard to find, given the products Hall and Brown made. Looking great though, glad your week has been better than last.
Kaleb what a work of 🎨 art! Wow! It's well worth the time you'r taking to do it. 👏. So much love you and Kim are pouring back into this old house, thank you for sharing this video with us.
Joy in your journey and blessings in your day.
The bathroom is looking great 👍. Your patience is paying off…slow and steady is winning the race.
Wow, what a lot of progress, the pattern is looking amazing.
Atlas is a very handsome doggy. 😊
I think so too!
For me, the stencilling is way more interesting than the beadboard. It's so much better than I expected going in, I love it.
What a beautiful labor of love restoring the beautiful home to it's former glory. I’m so glad I came across your channel today. I also loved hearing about and seeing the things your community has shared with you.
Great job with the wallpaper painting! Incredible job! You continually amaze me with your passion for your house. It will be such a jewel one day soon! And, presently, Kim is your shining jewel for coming to your rescue during the rain fiasco. She's a keeper! Blessings as you keep plugging along.
Love the powder room. It may be taking longer than you would like, but you won't be sorry in the end. It looks beautiful!!!
Hi Kaleb and Kim; Kim, Hollywood is going to be calling you, you did a great job with the BetterHelp sponsor. Glad the powder room is getting completed, it should feel really good to have that done. Hi to handsome Atlas, he is precious. Stay safe and love to you both.
The stenciling is gorgeous! Perfectly imperfect.
Great job Kaleb! The wall paper is looking fantastic and the slight imperfections only add to its character. After all so many things back in those days were hand made/done .. You are adding your talent and stamp to the house.. Nice to see Atlas in the video today..🐈❤️
awesome job kaleb the painting in the bathroom looks amazing the red turned out great
The walls look amazing! The time spent on it really shows. you should be proud!
Love the wallpaper. It looks like quilting.
Kim nailed that betterhelp ad read like a pro
Another amazing step closer to the bathroom being done! I could sit in there for hours and just glance the design in the walls ❤️
This is truly a labor of love, Kaleb, kudos to you! I don't think I would have the executive function to be able to stay focused like you are. I am definitely cheering you on!
Your wallpaper is fabulous! The slight variations you spoke about just add to the character and suit the time period.
Hi Kaleb, Painting is much better than wallpaper, and you are doing a beautiful job of painting. I am so happy for you and what you have accomplished in one week. Excellent! 😎
I agree completely…especially when it comes to Missouri’s humidity! Peels wallpaper like crazy.
The stenciling looks amazing!
That is a unique thing you are
Doing
Looks amazing! Harder it is, the more you will appreciate the finished product. Love that you take your time and don’t want to cut corners. I stenciled my walls and used stencils from Royal Design Studio Stencils-instead of cardboard, they use Mylar plastic. You can wash them and reuse them as many times as you need to. Just a thought going forward so you don’t have to keep buying new stencils and could save some money.
KUDOS to you for your patience, and talent!!! Looks wonderful!!! You will reap the rewards for your work, when it's done. Enjoy!!!
Like the look of the stenciling
That stenciling is amazing, sir! Your commitment to that is level of detail is astounding.
The bathroom wall is looking fantastic, if there are imperfections, that just adds character. Have a great week! :)
The details are always what slow down any project… but correctly accomplished details are what makes a project SING! Keep on keeping on and you’ll be pleased with the result :) It’s looking great so far 💖
Lovely portrait. He will look quite distinguished in the house.
please sign that wall for future visitors! to state all of this incredible work and dedication to maintain the early modern life that we love!
Can't wait so see the final stages of this journey, love from a modernism enthusiast graphic designer from Portugal
I enjoy watching you make progress. The work seems so rewarding. I would have loved seeing this home in its glory days.
You are doing an awesome job. I can't believe all the work you have done so far. You are awesome. Love how you are doing the stencil in the bathroom. I can hardly wait to see the finished room. God Bless.
The wallpaper looks great. I am so glad that you were able to find the original and copy it. Congratulations 🎉
Thanks so much! 😊
Awesome work on the wall pattern.
beside the historical justification for the imperfections in the pattern, they bare witness to the process you used to create it, which is always a cool thing especially when the process is manual and labour intensive like this (i know you would never do this but id go as far as to say that not filling in the little voids that the tabs in the stencil left in the pattern could be cool haha)
The stencilling is gorgeous
I love the ribbon design on wallpaper they had good taste just like u said.Keep plugging along on this beautiful home Kaleb kim an now atlas.
I needed this, really struggling with supply chain issues to stuff I need for the renovations, waiting 7 months for a new oven!! Shortage and delays for basic items such as plaster board, wiring for electric… you gave me a lift. So thanks again…
You're a real craftsman, sir. So fun to see this room come together.
Love the stencil and colors❣️... I agree wallpaper would be more costly and harder to do. Have a great week Kaleb!
Looking good Caleb I wouldn't worry about perfection because a little here and there makes it look more authentic!!✌🇺🇸
Oh my, that stenciling looks awesome!
It really looks period correct!
You know, it would be perfectly acceptable, design wise, to leave one wall blank. In fact, I think it would make the room look bigger, especially since it has such a high angle over that door.
Live with it awhile....see if you like it.
Love the stencil work… what great patience! It might be fun to frame one of the stencils.
Oh my gosh. I didn't think your videos could get any better then you introduced AStlas and if he isn't the cutest thing ever. You and Kim are also cute but Atlas is adorable. i love him and your pup from a previous video. Yes, I love dogs too even though we mostly had cats growing up buyt my sister has a dog who I absolutely love and adore :)
Incredible job, I knew it would be beautiful but that is so much better than I thought. interesting choice using spray paint.
As someone who has done several stencil jobs on both walls and a floor in my house I can honestly say I just get complements & amazements. People always admire my stencil work and no one has ever looked at the imperfections and pointed them out. I don't think people look at that kind of detail.
Beautiful oil.
that new older toilet looks very nice, very good conidtion!!!!
The bathroom walls are looking fantastic. It will be wonderful when you're finished and able to post before and after images.
Reference the headboard. Have you posted to the Architectural Salvage Buy and Sell Facebook group?
And lastly, it's wonderful to see the smiles and happiness on your face, especially after the sadness from last week's disasters. All the best to you and Kim.
The stenciling looks amazing. Such attention to detail!
Shalom Restorer! I stenciled quite a bit in my old home because paint is cheaper than wallpaper. With that said, you should use clear coat paint sealer over your work . Especially in the bathrooms. I did and it preserved my paint work for over fifteen years! All three bathrooms ( I sealed the kitchen as well) were still nice when I sold the house in 2019. Much success in all you do!
Absolutely love the stenciling! It’s your attention to detail that make it authentic.
Awesome stenciling and appreciate all the work and preserving history. Part of my Genealogy is from your area and helps to get a feel for history of that time.
Normally I hate "ads" for sponsored videos, but all I could think is "yay they have sponsors!" 😁
It's a means to an end. Every dollar goes back into the channel.
Exactly! I'm so glad that this may help you both be able to spend more time on the house. It's very exciting to see how much your channel has taken off! God bless and congrats!
The stencil came out great! I love the toilet, It will look like a perfect match with the house once installed. The work you and Kim have done is most inspiring, I have enjoyed this journey and look forward to each new video :)
That looks brilliant!
Nice paintings!
Don't worry about the stensel work. It looks great!
Wow! The bathroom looks incredible! I love it! Awesome job Kaleb! I am excited for the toilet and sink to be installed. Lol
Your wall paper from the stencil you designed is amazing. Love the work you are doing and your doggie Atlas is gorgeous.
It's definitely looking good. You sure have a passion for making things look great. It's going to look marvelous.Great job.
Caleb I am watching that wash room reno out of order and thought it was wall paper you had used . WOW !!!!! amazing stencil work total admiration for your tenacity and the finished job is brilliant. Lana Australia
Man ! That stenciling is looking awesome dude ! U are much more talented than me when it comes to that! Wow wow wowed
I LOVE Baumgartner! I was going to suggest him for the painting. Wouldn't hurt to talk to the guy. He loves to talk technique, I would bet a few videos back and forth would be of help. Ok, now I'm going to watch the rest of the video.☺
