I'm going to buy land and start agroforestry. Land is currently conventional ag. I will be doing chestnut overstory with understory of pawpaw, juneberries, honeyberry etc. Cover crop and no till. Having a hard time finding a carbon market for my farm. Either I'm too small or they don't have models for my crop type. Nori couldn't do multiple crop layers such as mine. Honestly the rep said it didn't matter the number of trees or shrubs 🤔 I plan on about 10k chestnut. Thousands of the shrubs plus drift barriers (probably willow, lilac and hazelnut). Any thoughts on how to find something? The land alone will cost 10k per acre, it will take 3-5 years to produce nuts/berries thus am really hoping to find carbon credit to help during these lean first years.
sounds like a good plan, where are you based?...unfortunately i feel the ag-credit system is not developed as far...Ag could have huge carbon potential

True but i think percentage wise it's also in the single digit range and i wanted to focus on the biggest
You could have addressed the obvious elephant in the room. that of the incentive for the registries to sanction poor quality or non-existent carbon offset credits...
Carbon standards as of now sound like rocket science to me.
