This woman has been Goku since day 1 of Dragon ball. Every commercial. Every game. Every movie and Special. She never called in sick when it came to being there for her fans. She lived her life as Goku, and literally breathed life into him, and will until her very last. There just isn't enough respect you can give. Every second you ever saw of Goku she was there. Without replacement or stand-in. When she leaves us, the world will be made lighter from the burden of lifting such a legend. A sweet old lady goes to work, walks into the studio and becomes one of the greatest and most powerful heroes in all of fiction. She deserves the highest of tributes among anyone with any respect toward what it means to be an actor in animation. All actors play characters, but veteran legends like Mazako Nozawa are that character. They're the soul of their being. Like Peter Cullen to Optimus Prime, they are bound in spirit to these fictional expressions imagination. Don't wait until they are gone to reflect on what they meant to you growing up and what they've inspired.
Masako-san actually broke a record for voicing Goku for so many years! Continuously and consistently, having no replacements whatsoever. She truly is a living legend.

Her age aside, I can't believe she doesn't even do each voice separately! She just switches back and forth between voices effortlessly! And omg I never cease to be amazed by her portrayal of Goku Black
Almost 40 years in the role of goku will do that... its just amazing watching her work the way she does that... it's as natural as breathing for her by now

This is in fact true of almost all anime, aside from Red Garden, Akira, one little girl in Mononoke, & Thundercats 2011 (which was a Hollywood-funded production with much bigger budget). & ironically it is in fact due to the popularity of *dubbed Western animation & live-action works* in Japan. It's cheaper that way. Almost no Hollywood cartoon is dubbed, aside from certain English-language anime such as Animatrix, Afro Samurai, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, & the Batman: Gotham Knight anime. I mentioned these because they are animated to the English scripts (Afro Samurai didnt even get JP *dubs!*), but the VAs still came in separately to dub over it. What a great voice actress she is, I mean at her 80s she has still an amazing voice, she is still working and she loves fans and her job. Thank you very much for this miss Masako
It's amazing to me that they chose to keep Masako Nozawa as Goku as an adult instead of traditionally casting a male voice actor to take her place when he was no longer a child. She is just that good.
TOEI and Aoni Prod. (the voice talent agency) considered replacing her with a male voice actor, but they feared the younger kids would no longer be able to relate with the character and as a result, the audience rating would drop drastically. When Masako Nozawa found out, she was very sad because she had grown very fond of Gokû over the years, and she had been hoping she would be able to voice him until the end of the show, which she assumed was near, at the time. So, she personally contacted Toriyama to ask him if he would let her keep voicing Gokû if she took a somewhat "deeper" voice, and Toriyama didn't object to it.

the best japanese voice actress in my opinion ever not only does she voices a guy she voices several and she has to scream from the top of her lungs multiple times and she is turning 81 in october amazing
Funny thing is that I hated her voice for Goku before of Super because I grew up with another voice completely different. But now I know why she is a legend, she has a something that screams Goku for me. I love her voice now.
I watched Digimon Tamers for the first time in Japanese back in January, i had no idea that Goku's voice actor was the same has Guilmon. Since it was Digimon i re-watched in Japanese first now rewatching the entire Dragon Ball series in Japanesr Goku keeps reminding me of Guilmon xD
I grew up listening between latin american spanish dub from the tv show, and japanese original voices from the snes and playstation games i had. So im pretty comfortable with goku speaking like a child. I do have trouble listening to US dub or iberian spanish. Lol, i think those are horrible, but do not take offense, its probably that's simply not the way i learned to watch DB
I don’t really care for her voice with adult goku but I think it fits kid goku, both kid and adult gohan and goten. And plus she is just a sweetheart and to yell for that long and for that many characters is truly impressive
Adult Gohan, no. By that point, I feel Gohan should've had a deeper voice. He's not the same "kid at heart" as Goku, so that arguement can't even be used. For child characters, I think she's fine enough.
People need to understand that this woman is a legend. Her job involves A LOT of screaming and she's just as sweet as can be.

idc what anyone thinks or says she's the best voice actress of goku (along with sean ofc)
Wow,
Watching this it just dawned on me: Goku is to Japan, what Superman is to America, national treasures!
Wouldnt let anyone do it better!
She is fantastic. The way she just simotensely switches the voice.
she looks like a really nice lady :)
This women is huge legend!!!!
And people complain sub scream is trash
Man Masako Nozawa looks so inspirational
She’s fits perfect for goku voice
I dont want her to die :(
She is a true legend, wow.
the best japanese voice actress in my opinion ever not only does she voices a guy she voices several and she has to scream from the top of her lungs multiple times and she is turning 81 in october amazing
Legend
This woman is EIGHTY ONE years old and doing this as well as she did 25 years ago. What a talent.
God bless her. Hopefully nothing happens to her
Please give this woman eternal life. I can’t imagine a different actress.
legend
This was posted the day before her 80th bday. I'm impressed, this lady despite her age still has powerful lungs.
Thank you for the joy you brought to my life 🥹❤
Funny thing is that I hated her voice for Goku before of Super because I grew up with another voice completely different. But now I know why she is a legend, she has a something that screams Goku for me. I love her voice now.
MY ONE same
The day she leaves is a day that anime will truly be never the same. And we'll all have to figure out a way to wish her back.
0:28 Acting dubbing
the moment she makes goten voice , im done dude this lady is legend.
The English and the Japanese voice are great.
Born and raised in America and i prefer her voice over sean. No disrespect to sean
I don't know why but Goku sounds so likable in Japanese, I think his voice has a big part in that.
because its suit his character being energetic and clamsy.imagine for goku has sean but energetic and clamsy.
