I’ve also read several of their comments saying how obese they got eating vegan, and they’re losing the fat on carnivore. And, exactly, what is “meat weight”? I had high hopes for that You Are What You Eat series, since usually they compare keto/lowcarb, vegan diets to a Standard American Diet which is crap. At least they did a healthy omnivore diet in this one. But it was clear that there was a plant-based bias. Even at the end when they were showing the results, and how the omnivore twin almost all around had better results, including losing more body fat and less muscle, and they made excuses and spun tales to 'explain away and justify' why the vegan twin didn't come out on top. Very disappointing.

@@SlingTv-uo4wn You can still lose adequate visceral fat on a not plant-based diet. Many people use keto etc to reverse excessive visceral fat, fatty liver, inflammation, heart disease, etc. I like that they used identical twins, I just wish they'd have made the experiment longer, and showed some of the other pairs (they studied I believe 21 sets of twins but only featured 4). Also, I'd love to see this done comparing a healthy vegan diet with a healthy ketogenic diet. I love this type of stuff.

I progressively reduced my carb in take intially eating three times a day. Then I got to where I was only hungry two times a day and started 2MAD. Along the way I'm regularly watching Dr. Westman's you tube episodes for encouragement and to become more educated about doing this in a reasonable way. My weight loss stalled several times and Dr. Westman's advice about not overdoing the oils, cheese and butter helped to get me back on track. Now I do 2MAD, at each meal I eat a 1 pound steak and 5 scrambled eggs. During this whole journey I was never really hungry and it too just a little getting used to each time I let some kind of "carbage" go. I could eat more not starchy vegtables but feel great just eating meat and eggs. I have high LDL but low Trigs and High HDL (Trigs/HDL ratio is a little under one). In brief I'm a borderline LMHR. I could have qualified for LMHR study for which early results came out on DEc 9th. I recently turned 57 but feel at least 20 years younger. I lost 180 pounds in the first year and 20 pounds in the next couple of months and have been at a lean 6 ft 205 pounds for over one year now. It's been a great journey and Dr. Westman has been with me the whole way. It all started when I saw Dr. Sara Hallberg's famous reversing T2D you tube video. I also watch Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Anthony Chaffe and Dr. Shawn Baker vut find Dr. Westman's well reasoned approach provides the best info in general.

The trees in the Amazon are also being felled to make space for farming, as in agriculture, and not just ranching. Vegan proponents who claim eating meat is causing deforestation haven't thought their argument through.

What do you think is the biggest problem with the Standard American Diet? Processed foods are designed to make you want to eat more, so they can sell more. You think that's good? Or do you think Ozempic is the answer to get people to eat less? Looks like a vegan diet is doing what Ozempic is doing.

I am a 79-year-old male and I appreciate your teaching methods. I don't believe in extreme diets like vegan or carnivore, or any other diets that eliminate food items that humans have been consuming for hundreds of thousands of years. Dr. Berry coined the term "Ketovore," which is what his wife follows, and I think it makes the most sense. I believe, meat was probably the primary food choice of our ancestors, but they didn't eat it exclusively. As Homo sapiens, we are the top apex predators on this planet, and our success is probably due in large part to the fact that we ate meat first, but also consumed low-carb, fibrous plants when meat was not readily available. The best diet to follow today is one that has been followed for a long time. Our success I believe in large part is because we ate meat first but also ate plants that were mostly low-carb and fibrous because meat was not always available. Anything that we have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years probably is the best diet to follow today. Especially if you are old, I'm talking 75 or older.

Carnivores tend to want to be left alone to eat what they choose.
Vegans tend, ultimately, to want to control what others eat.

I didn’t find it biased and I can never get over how animal eaters, always feel they are getting personally attacked when anything like this comes out and instantly start with the finger pointing and statements of this is just biased, we’ve been eating meat for millennia, blah blah blah.
Whether folk like it or not, plenty of scientific studies have proven a whole food plant based diet is the way to go for both health and the environment.
Many are none bias/ none profit studies.
Also why argue against the cruelty you inflict by the food choices you make.
This isn’t kind at all, and by many getting defensive over these type of shows just shows you can’t handle your own conscience and what it is telling you.

    B) Carnivore Diet. 100% animal based, no supplements.
    C) Control. Standard American Diet, no supplements.

Similar caloric content for all groups.
Participants must agree to consume only food provided by the study.
Study controlled for other factors (smoking, alcohol, age, activity level, etc.)
Measures: risk of heart disease, cancer, blood work, etc.
I can tell you that if you took the supplements away from the vegan group, their health would nosedive during the study. That is one of my main arguments against the efficacy of the vegan lifestyle - if we're meant to eat a plant-based diet, then why can't you be healthy without supplementing your diet? What would your ancestors do to fill in the nutritional gaps even just a hundred years ago? There were no vitamin stores back in the cave man days.

@@RobTcobra Overeating of fruit can cause diabetes.
Then don't overeat fruit if that's the case .
Overeating animal products will this cause problems as well ?
The carnivore keto people seem not to think so .

Gary Taubes has dedicated his new book to Sarah Halberg. So beautiful, I'm crying.
"For showing us how to live and helping change the world."
She was so young, passionate, & had such young children. Is anyone working on a cure for that horrendous disease that takes such beautiful people?

UPSIDE Foods, a world leader in cultivated meat, poultry and seafood (also known as cell-cultured meat), today announced the appointment of Kyle Vogt to its Board of Directors.
"When I first invested in Uma's vision in 2017, I was immediately inspired by UPSIDE's transformative potential for the environment and animal welfare," said Vogt. "My confidence that UPSIDE is the future of meat has only increased, and I'm thrilled to join the UPSIDE board as we prepare to introduce products to the public."

Every cardiologist worth a damn today knows the important role that HDL and triglycerides play in evaluating cardiovascular risk. I’m guessing that there was a reason that HDL and triglycerides were not compared in this “study.” veganism has always been about ethics, never about health.

I am no professional but felt this group of people didn't rep eveyone. Not many were over 50 or were obessed. They didn't even discussed what the group that ate meat had. No one discussed how expensive those plant based foods are. They had completely ignored those companies that do treat their animals better. They didn't show how eating healthier with meat could be possible.

Folks, very strange. My adult daughter is very well educated and is a professional in the psychological world. She fell head over heels for this documentary. I as her father now 73 years old have lost 40 lbs. of deadly fat on keto. She dismissed that. I did not have the heart to tell her that no way would she recommend treatments for her patients based on studies of 8 weeks. Media exerts a lot of influence on us all.
