I assume the purpose of cutting the Dr grip tip is to make room for the emboss felt tip... But what is the purpose of putting the emboss felt tips back in?
if you cut it with a utility blade (straight down like I normally do), it most likely won't be straight. it's also a bit easier cause 1 ring sections are really small to cut

you could probably use metal washers like the ones used in the Impact MX (Brass US size 6s) or washers that can fit inside an RSVP cap. otherwise, look for some washers around the size of the big side of your airblanc tip. I highly recommend using Penz Gear rings though. I think Eno has them, and Penwish does too.
