    7:42 Band gap is supposed to be a distance then how we can measure it in electron volt, ev is energy unit?

    • @tarunkumarkottapu3022
      @tarunkumarkottapu3022 10 месяцев назад +1

      Band gap means that difference in energy levels
      There may be difference in distances in energy levels in accordance with bohr distance but we are interested in energy soo
      We considered energy band gap

      Not explaining by details. I think these courses require solid state understanding first.

    • @Fucos_on
      @Fucos_on 4 месяца назад

      Because, we measured the distance in Energy Axis. and usually we use the unit of energy as the eV unit instead of joul....

    Sir,is the bang gap empty?
    If so...how can we differentiate between band gap nd empty band?

    • @Upgradezz
      @Upgradezz 4 года назад +2

      Empty band is a band. Band gap is the difference in every between two adjacent bands

    • @ArifKhan-nq4ru
      @ArifKhan-nq4ru 4 года назад +12

      Band gap is the forbidden region where electrons are not allowed to exist as per allowed quantum energy states. Conduction Band has allowed quantum energy states where electron can exist, but are empty.

    Why did the 2m come in the denominator 16:46

    • @ishandhawan9011
      @ishandhawan9011 5 лет назад +5

      hk is the momentum. Which is basically mv. Since we write (hk)^2, that represents m^2.v^2. KE is m.v^2/2. So it's divided by 1/2m
