For non VR users, this patch is the best thing that happened to this game since release. Haven't had this much fun flying online since IL-2 1946.

@@airsheep guys how is it a game changer?? I have vr but had trouble id ing planes. So I switched back to flat screen. Any tips on how to improve texture and visibility? Or that something you just deal with?

@@tlofrank5689 unfortunately Rift has low resolution (2560x1440) so that this game update does not help you much. My Reverb' resolution is 4320x2160 that means in vr the game looks like you play in a full hd monitor. Try a Reverb if you can and you will see a difference, but you also need a decent gpu+cpu too. I have also a rift s and id ing plan is almost impossible for e.x. in the scrpted capaign with many plane. Without the HUD there's no chance. The resolution is just too bad. I think the hp reverb g2 will change that.
I feel they have found a real nice place for the spotting with his new patch. Only flown a few sorties but feels alot better but not to over done also.
I have the impression that it is actually more realistic now, because there are no pixels in reality. I flew around as a passenger in a cessna 172 a few times and always helped the pilot to watch out for traffic. It is a lot easier than in il2 pre-patch, even if the other plane is small and 10km away.
I used to fly tons of IL2 1946. Just got into GB and was dismayed at the visibility. New patch fixes this. Looks like I got back into Il2 at the right time. Love your channel!

I feel like there is definitely an improvement for VR users. Hopefully the framerate issue some users face isn't going to be a permenant thing.
so some users of VR are seeing FPS drops after the patch?
@@Skipcarey I've been getting mixed reports. Doesn't help that the performance of IL2 in VR has always been up and down depending on what happens with each patch. Will need to play it a bit more to be sure.
Yep I finally see the planes in the game so Im not a lost duck anymore. Flying under grass is over, now I can climb higher and see what happens. I only need a good vga to improve graphics :)
So clarify for me plz, BoS has better visibility for VR now?
@@dr.polansky4192 Definetly. I mean not the overall visibility improved, only the plane spotting. I use a HP Reverb and I can spot planes from a much greater distance than before.
Yep, you needed that improved spotting to avoid that 110. My God, I shat myself!

Very interesting update! I will have to check it out. I'm worried however, as I am a compromised performance user of IL-2. My humble graphics card is easily overcome by some settings and generally my experience of the game can be frustratingly blurry. I can't really say whether or not my own visibility problems are a consequence of the game, or my settings (MSAA antialiasing, very low detail on landscape, no fancy lighting). Ideally, this visibility update will not be confined to providing benefits for high setting options! We will see.
Should be better across the board
I have to play on lower settings too and of course that will have some effect on spotting, but this update definitely made an improvement IMO.

Great videos! What happened in the last 3 minutes? It all went dark. Love those German planes! They are the best! BTW, they used either 93 or 87 octane gas; 87 more prevalent in last years of the war. Keep up the great videos!

Depends on the book, I read it was 72% octane by wars end? But real low 60% or less for long time.

i love flying sorties in this server but it sucks not having a headset to look around with using the little analog stick on the throttle sucks
Ps3 webcam and the ir trackir clip off amazon for 30 bucks. Total cost 40 dollars for headtracking.
Just use head tracking. It’s WAY better than VR right now. Track IR is the best but the premium option.

This video is very non-smooth compared to previous ones. Is that because of game server issues or is it due to game performance post-patch?
I found the gameplay performance really smooth and noticed no problems while editing or later while playback. Maybe it was your playback? If you think it's not on your side can you tell me in which section ofthe video the performance problems are apparent?

Tracers are still WAYYY too bright. You should be looking for planes, not lightsabers. But the new spotting is good.

Pfff still abusing from zoom which is completely unrealistic and shit, all the people that complained about maintaining the crap visibility is abusing from zoom, I am donde with this game.
You realize that seeing a 3D world through a 2D screen is pretty unrealistic too, right? And that the human eye is much more capable to see details further away than in the non-zoomed state? Also we humans have a much wider field of view than the default FoV. The zoom is there to compensate for that.

I checked my six, cause my wingman was now in front of me and I was responsible for keeping him clear.
So I needed to check my six on my own as my wingman left the position. The rest was luck.
