    Can you please provide me with the part number for the LED DRL ?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад +3

      Hi, the part numbers I believe are driver side: 55112885AF and passenger side: 55112884AF but sometimes they change. Also, they only work on Rubicon, Overland, and Sahara. They do not fit on a Sport models because of the fenders being 1-piece. So you would need to also swap the fenders. Or look at the morimoto options. Thanks!

      @Fred Wills He is talking about the side marker/turn signal/ DRL. They won't work on a sport from what I've seen as it is slightly different than the Rubicon/Sahara trims, but I've never tested it.

    Glad I found your video. Really helped with my swap/install, especially the 3M tape observation. I would have racked my brain trying to figure out why it wouldn't detach. I found I had to remove the fenders in the end to complete the job. I think it made the job of replacing the harness and removing the 3M double sided tape much easier as well. The first fender I yanked and broke two clips so waiting for replacements in the mail. I found with the second fender you can squeeze the clip retention ends with a needle nose plier and it releases. No broken clips. Thanks again!

    Did you try just using your Tazer mini and try just turning on your halo? I added the oem led’s and was able to just turn on my halo’s without any additional wiring

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  2 года назад

      For 2018-2022 JL Wranglers, they are missing the wire that actually powers the HALO itself, so even if you enable it, there's no physical wire to power the HALO. If you have a 2020.5 or newer, they come with that extra wire already, so in that case all you have to do is enable the HALO with the Tazer and it will work. For the older JLs like mine, you need to get the Mopar wire kit which is like $60 and install it. I have in another video with the headlights.

      You need to reprogram the ECU to LED. Even if they work without coding, eventually they error our or hyper flash. I’m assuming you meant OEM LED? A dealer is going to charge more than the cost of the Tazer Jl mini and it’s one time deal. The Tazer also has multiple uses. In the programming you change from non led STD to LED. Hope they helps.

      yes, if your Jeep didn't come with LED lights originally and you are using the OEM ones, you will need a Tazer Mini JL or the dealer to program LED lights. There are options on the Wrangler Forums if you search for LED light conversion of wiring harnesses that do not require programming but I'm not super familiar with them.

    So i now have these factory LED DRL/blinkers to put in. But i've already wired in aftermarket LED headlights and tapped the factory halogen DRL/blinkers for the halo and blinker. Since you have both harnesses for halogen and LED, could you by chance tell me if the color coding on the wires are the same? In other words when i install the LED DRL/blinker will i be able to find the green and the tan wires i tapped w/ the halogen harness? thanks

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  2 года назад

      Unfortunately it has been a while since I did this but the Halo wiring I purchased was blue and white because it was an entire new wire that my 18 JL didn't come with. After 2020 they included the HALO wires even if you didn't have LED light option. I think the best way and easiest way will be to turn on the ignition and use a test light to see where the current is. If you have a 2020 or newer, it will be plug and play, and just need to enable LED option using something like a Tazer JL Mini or dealer programming it for you. I'll see if I can have a look a this thread it has a lot of info on wiring a few different ways with or without a tazer too. www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/wiring-halo-drl-amber-turn-switchbacks-fender-led-drl-switchbacks-on-jl-sport.25959/#post-615801

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  Год назад

      Yes the wiring plugs into the same place as the halogen one. The only thing you have to make sure of is that the LED lights come with the wiring harness attached to them and haven’t been cut. The halogen light harness does not work on the LED light. I got the lights of Facebook Market place, but you can find them on eBay or Jeep forums used as many owners remove the fenders for bigger tires.

    Do you leave the TAZER connected all the time?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  2 года назад

      I do because it doesn't actually connect to the OBDII Port, it connects to the SGW module above that. You don't have to leave it installed after programming, but you would lose some features that are called LIVE FEATURES. Like disabling the autostart/stop feature that I hate. The Live function remembers last state, meaning if I turn it off, it always stays off until I turn that feature back on. If the Tazer is not in the car, those live features don't work, but the LED programming would still work as those are not LIVE features. Check out their guide for a complete list of LIVE features - www.zautomotive.com/zpu/instructions/TazerJLMiniUserGuide1120.pdf

      If you are talking about the wiring for the HALOs this is how you order (there's no direct link as it changes all the time) You have to order a harness called the "Wiring-Jumper Part #68347117AB" from any online Mopar parts resellers. The dealer will charge you double, so look online. Also, if they ask you to put your VIN number in the order, and you have a non-led headlight from factory, they will cancel the order because it shows as not-compatible in their system. Leave the VIN # blank.

For example, in order for my LED SWAP to work properly, i have to tell the ECU I now have LED lights vs halogen ones, or I'll get weird flickering/blinking. The DRL LED harness is attached to the lights and cannot be removed, but I've seen people cut them and sell the lights with no harness which won't work. As for the tazer part, they work without programming but will do rapid blinking sometimes, so a tool like the Tazer allows you to easily reprogram your Jeeps computer from Halogen DRL to LED DRL so that you don't have the rapid blinking issue.

      I do not sorry. I replaced my OEM halogen housings/lamps with the OEM LED DRL that came from a take off. There are several options. You can use LED Bulbs, you can use aftermarket LED lights from Oracle for example that replace the OEM Halogen ones, or you can use OEM DRL LED lights. But I'm not sure on the resistors. Thank you!

    I recently bought a 2021 Rubicon that was loaded with everything but LED lights. Since I traded in my '18 which did have them, I knew this was something I wanted to swap out. I bought the headlights, fog lights, and running lights/turn signals. My local mechanic said he'd try to install them but wasn't sure how to do it. I then went to the local Jeep dealer and was told they could install them to get them to work, but it would confuse the computer/circuit boards or something like that and I'd get error messages all the time. Now I'm afraid to have it done, but like you, I really don't like the stock lighting. Is there any merit to the Jeep dealer's fears? Thanks.

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  2 года назад +2

      I can't speak for the dealer, and they may have a valid point in terms of something causing damage that their warranty wouldn't cover. However, hundreds, if not thousands of JL owners have done the upgrade with used, or new OEM lights, and a Tazer or something similar to enable the LED code in the ECU, with no issues. I've now had mine for nearly two years with no issues. In the JL Jeeps after 2020, it is even easier to upgrade because you now have the correct wiring harness, where mine and other 2018-2020 JLs needed that extra wiring harness to make it work.

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  4 года назад

      No. It depends what year JL you have. This applies to 18-20 JLs that didn't come with the LED package. So if you purchase used OEM DRLs and OEM LED headlights you need the wire kit, need to have either dealer code for LEDs, or use something like a Tazer Mini JL to enable LED lights or you will have hyper-flashing, or lights not working properly. Morimoto DRLs do not require any special coding from what I've read on their website but I would recommend verifying with Morimoto first. 2020 JLs and newer appear to already have the extra wire so its plug and play, but you will still need to code for LEDs for them to work either through your Jeep dealer, or a Tazer. Hope that helps.

      Martin that's a good question. I know that the DRL Harness is wired to the LEDs directly so you can't really unplug it. What you might be able to do is use your halogen harness to see if you can wire it up with the DRL one as you suggested. These are normally two or three wires, just make sure you line them up correctly and test them before you put everything together. Get a good soldering iron if you don't already have one, they're pretty cheap at home depot/lowes or any hardware store. then use a good shrink wrap to cover them up so it holds up longer. But yeah should be doable. Let me know!

Then install it on your JL per the instructions linked here. Once you install it, turn the ignition on but not the Jeep. Cycle with the buttons until you see Audio info on the evic screen between the gauges using the left up and down arrows. Once there hold the left arrow and tap cancel on the cruise control buttons. Once there keep holding the left arrow and tap cancel until you get to lighting, then to change settings keep holding left and use the on/offf buttons for cruise. Once you make a chance holding the left button and press RES on the cruise buttons. They will accept the change. www.zautomotive.com/zpu/instructions/TazerJLMiniUserGuide1110.pdf
